Turbulent Flow in the interface of the soil surface is similar to but much complicated than the turbulent flow in the boundary layer near the wall. The biomass and solute transportation underneath the soil surface is mainly related to the air flow velocity profile within the porous media of soil. In this presentation, we will report the numerical simulation results of turbulent flow in the soil interface. A continuous velocity profile from out layer to inner layer and sublayer until porous media of soil was predicted. The critical issue of the simulation is how to model turbulent structure across the soil interface. In the out layer and inner layer, a modified Prandtl’s Mixing Length method was adopted to model turbulent viscosity, which was integrated into Lattice Boltzmann Large Eddy Simulation. In the sublayer, the turbulent structure was controlled by a turbulent background viscosity. The air flow within soil was simulated using our Gray Lattice Boltzmann Model.
