On the second play of the ensuing drive Newton threw an interception to <a href="/wiki/Cliff_Harris_(cornerback)" title="Cliff Harris (cornerback)">Cliff Harris</a>. On the following drive after moving the ball to the Auburn 27, Thomas threw his second interception, this time to safety Zac Etheridge. Auburn once again failed to capitalize on a Thomas interception and punted. </p><p>Early in the second quarter, Oregon scored the first points on a 26-yard field goal, to go up 3-0. Auburn then claimed the lead on an 82-yard drive, finishing with a <a href="/wiki/Kodi_Burns" title="Kodi Burns">Kodi Burns</a> touchdown reception.
