nanoparticles (SLNs) were developed to improve oral bioavailability of oxyresveratrol (OXY). The SLNs were prepared by a high speed homogenization technique, at an effective speed and time, using Compritol® 888 ATO (5% w/w) as the solid lipid. The appropriate weight proportions (0.3% w/w) of OXY affected the physicochemical properties of blank SLNs. The effects of surfactant types on the properties of the formulations such as particle size and entrapment efficacy were also investigated. Conclusively, Tween 80 combined with soy lecithin was the most appropriate surfactant to stabilize OXY-loaded SLNs. The mean particle size of the optimized formulation was 134.40 ± 0.57 nm. In vitro drug release study, the selected S2 formulation showed a retarded release profile for OXY with no initial burst release compared to OXY suspension in the simulated gastrointestinal fluids. Therefore, these SLNs could provide a suitable system to develop for the oral OXY delivery. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20lipid%20nanoparticles" title="solid lipid nanoparticles">solid lipid nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physicochemical%20properties" title=" physicochemical properties"> physicochemical properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in%20vitro%20drug%20release" title=" in vitro drug release"> in vitro drug release</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxyresveratrol" title=" oxyresveratrol"> oxyresveratrol</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3625/novel-solid-lipid-nanoparticles-for-oral-delivery-of-oxyresveratrol-effect-of-the-formulation-parameters-on-the-physicochemical-properties-and-in-vitro-release" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3625.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Reactive Blending of Thermoplastic Starch, Ethylene-1-Butene Rubber, and Chitosan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kittisak%20Jantanasakulwong">Kittisak Jantanasakulwong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Toshiaki%20Ougizawa"> Toshiaki Ougizawa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Thermoplastic starch (TPS) was prepared by melt-blending of cassava starch with glycerol (70/30 wt%/wt%) at 130 ◦C for 10 min. Chitosan (CTS) was used as a compatibilizer. TPS/CTS blend was melt-blended with maleic anhydride grafted ethylene-1-butene rubber (EB-MAH) in the composition of 80/20 respectively. Addition of CTS in TPS/EB-MAH blend decreased particles size of EB-MAH rubber to 1µm in TPS matrix. Mechanical properties, solubility, swelling property, morphology, and water contact angle of TPS/EB-MAH blend were improved by CTS incorporation. FTIR confirmed a reaction had occurred between amino groups (-NH2) of CTS and the MAH groups of EB-MAH. This reaction and the enhanced miscibility between TPS and CTS improved morphology and properties of the TPS/EB-MAH/CTS blend. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermoplastic%20starch" title="thermoplastic starch">thermoplastic starch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rubber" title=" rubber"> rubber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactive%20blending" title=" reactive blending"> reactive blending</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chitosan" title=" chitosan"> chitosan</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79632/reactive-blending-of-thermoplastic-starch-ethylene-1-butene-rubber-and-chitosan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79632.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">199</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Model for Introducing Products to New Customers through Decision Tree Using Algorithm C4.5 (J-48)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Komol%20Phaisarn">Komol Phaisarn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anuphan%20Suttimarn"> Anuphan Suttimarn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vitchanan%20Keawtong"> Vitchanan Keawtong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kittisak%20Thongyoun"> Kittisak Thongyoun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chaiyos%20Jamsawang"> Chaiyos Jamsawang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article is intended to analyze insurance information which contains information on the customer decision when purchasing life insurance pay package. The data were analyzed in order to present new customers with Life Insurance Perfect Pay package to meet new customers’ needs as much as possible. The basic data of insurance pay package were collect to get data mining; thus, reducing the scattering of information. The data were then classified in order to get decision model or decision tree using Algorithm C4.5 (J-48). In the classification, WEKA tools are used to form the model and testing datasets are used to test the decision tree for the accurate decision. The validation of this model in classifying showed that the accurate prediction was 68.43% while 31.25% were errors. The same set of data were then tested with other models, i.e. Naive Bayes and Zero R. The results showed that J-48 method could predict more accurately. So, the researcher applied the decision tree in writing the program used to introduce the product to new customers to persuade customers’ decision making in purchasing the insurance package that meets the new customers’ needs as much as possible. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20tree" title="decision tree">decision tree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20mining" title=" data mining"> data mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=customers" title=" customers"> customers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=life%20insurance%20pay%20package" title=" life insurance pay package"> life insurance pay package</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11724/model-for-introducing-products-to-new-customers-through-decision-tree-using-algorithm-c45-j-48" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11724.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">427</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Development of Microsatellite Markers for Genetic Variation Analysis in House Cricket, Acheta domesticus</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yash%20M.%20Gupta">Yash M. Although it is very commonly used as food and feed, the genomic information of house cricket is still missing for genetic investigation. DNA sequencing technology has evolved over the decades, and it has also revolutionized the molecular marker development for genetic analysis. In the present study, we have sequenced the whole genome of A. domesticus using illumina platform based HiSeq X Ten sequencing technology for searching simple sequence repeats (SSRs) in DNA to develop polymorphic microsatellite markers for population genetic analysis. A total of 112,157 SSRs with primer pairs were identified, 91 randomly selected SSRs used to check DNA amplification, of which nine primers were polymorphic. These microsatellite markers have shown cross-amplification with other three species of crickets which are Gryllus bimaculatus, Gryllus testaceus and Brachytrupes portentosus. These nine polymorphic microsatellite markers were used to check genetic variation for forty-five individuals of A. domesticus, Phitsanulok population, Thailand. For nine loci, the number of alleles was ranging from 5 to 15. The observed heterozygosity was ranged from 0.4091 to 0.7556. These microsatellite markers will facilitate population genetic analysis for future studies of A. domesticus populations. Moreover, the transferability of these SSR makers would also enable researchers to conduct genetic studies for other closely related species. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cross-amplification" title="cross-amplification">cross-amplification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microsatellite%20markers" title=" microsatellite markers"> microsatellite markers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=observed%20heterozygosity" title=" observed heterozygosity"> observed heterozygosity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=population%20genetic" title=" population genetic"> population genetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simple%20sequence%20repeats" title=" simple sequence repeats"> simple sequence repeats</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/109733/development-of-microsatellite-markers-for-genetic-variation-analysis-in-house-cricket-acheta-domesticus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/109733.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">140</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Elderly Health Care Process by Community Participation: A Sub-District in the Lower Northern Region of Thailand</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amaraporn%20Puraya">Amaraporn Puraya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roongtiva%20Boonpracom"> Roongtiva Boonpracom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Somsak%20Thojampa"> Somsak Thojampa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sirikanok%20Klankhajhon"> Sirikanok Klankhajhon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kittisak%20Kumpeera"> Kittisak Kumpeera</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective of this qualitative research was to study the elderly health care process by community participation. Data were collected by quality research methods, including secondary data study, observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions and analyzed by content analysis, reflection and review of information. The research results pointed out that the important elderly health care process by community participation consisted of 2 parts, namely the community participation development process in elderly health care and the outcomes from the participation development process. The community participation development process consisted of 4 steps as follows: 1) Building the leadership team, an important social capital of the community, which started from searching for both formal and informal leaders by giving the opportunity for public participation and creating clear agreements defining roles, duties and responsibilities; 2) investigating the problems and the needs of the community, 3) designing the elderly health care activities under the concept of self-care potential development of the elderly through participation in community forums and meetings to exchange knowledge with common goals, plans and operation and 4) the development process of sustainable health care agreement at the local level, starting from opening communication channels to create awareness and participation in various activities at both individual and group levels as well as pushing activities/projects into the community development plan consistent with the local administration policy. The outcomes from the participation development process were as follows. 1) There was the integration of the elderly for doing the elderly health care activities/projects in the community managed by the elderly themselves. 2) The service system was changed from the passive to the proactive one, focusing on health promotion rather than treating diseases or illnesses. 3) The registered nurses / the public health officers can provide care for the elderly with chronic illnesses through the implementation of activities/projects of elderly health care so that the elderly can access the services more. 4) The local government organization became the main mechanism in driving the elderly health care process by community participation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
