However, growing health challenges in a city would raise attention to the planning quality of these community's assets. This research aims to measure the existing availability and distribution equity of POS in the context of Saudi Arabia using Riyadh city as a case study. The methodology for the POS availability was by calculating the total POS with respect to the population total (m²/inhabitant). All POS were mapped using geographical information systems (GIS), and the total area availability of POS was compared to global, regional, and local standards. To evaluate the significant differences in POS availability across low, medium, and high-income Riyadh neighborhoods, we used a One-way ANOVA analysis of covariance to test the differences. The results are as follows; POS availability was lower than global standers. Riyadh has only 1.40m² per capita of POS. Spatial equity of the availability were significantly different among Riyadh neighborhoods based on socioeconomic status. The future development of POS should be focused on increasing general POS availability and should be given priority to those low-income and unhealthy communities. Accessibility indicators of POS should be considered in future studies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20spaces%20availability" title="open spaces availability">open spaces availability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20spaces%20distribution" title=" open spaces distribution"> open spaces distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20equity" title=" spatial equity"> spatial equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthy%20city" title=" healthy city"> healthy city</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riyadh%20City" title=" Riyadh City"> Riyadh City</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158074/assessing-public-open-spaces-availability-and-distribution-in-a-socially-challenged-city-a-case-study-of-riyadh-saudi-arabia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158074.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">112</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">110</span> The Use of Continuous Improvement Methods to Empower the Osh MS With Leading Key Performance Indicators</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maha%20Rashid%20Al-Azib">Maha Rashid Al-Azib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Almuzn%20Qasem%20Alqathradi"> Almuzn Qasem Alqathradi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amal%20Munir%20Alshahrani"> Amal Munir Alshahrani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bilqis%20Mohammed%20Assiri"> Bilqis Mohammed Assiri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Almuflih"> Ali Almuflih</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Occupational Safety and Health Management System in one of the largest Saudi companies has been experiencing in the last 10 years extensive direct and indirect expenses due to lack of proactive leading indicators and safety leadership effective procedures. And since there are no studies that are associated with this department of safety in the company, this research has been conducted. In this study we used a mixed method approach containing a literature review and experts input, then a qualitative questionnaire provided by Institute for Work and Health related to determining the company’s occupational safety and health management system level out from three levels (Compliance - Improvement - Continuous Learning) and the output regarding the company’s level was in Continuous Learning. After that Deming cycle was employed to create a set of proactive leading indicators and analyzed using the SMART method to make sure of its effectiveness and suitability to the company. The objective of this research is to provide a set of proactive indicators to contribute in making an efficient occupational safety and health management system that has less accidents which results in less expenses. Therefore, we provided the company with a prototype of an APP, designed and empowered with our final results to contribute in supporting decisions making processes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proactive%20leading%20indicators" title="proactive leading indicators">proactive leading indicators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OSH%20MS" title=" OSH MS"> OSH MS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20leadership" title=" safety leadership"> safety leadership</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accidents%20reduction" title=" accidents reduction"> accidents reduction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162623/the-use-of-continuous-improvement-methods-to-empower-the-osh-ms-with-leading-key-performance-indicators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162623.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">80</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">109</span> Moderating Role of Psychological Contract in Relationship between Moral Disengagement and Counterproductive Work Behavior</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Afsheen%20Masood">Afsheen Masood</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sumaira%20Rashid"> Sumaira Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20Ijaz"> Nadia Ijaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shama%20Mazahir"> Shama Mazahir</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The current study examined the relationship between moral disengagement, psychological contract, organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive work behavior. It is hypothesized that there is likely to be a significant relationship between moral disengagement, psychological contract, organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive work behavior. A research addressing issues related to the curriculum standard is, therefore, essential to provide value added quality to the existing National Education Philosophy in ongoing efforts to produce an individual who is balanced in intellectual, spiritual, emotional and physical developments. The objective of this study is to examine the Philosophy of Language Theory, to review the content of the Malay language subject in relation to the Standard Curriculum for Primary Schools (KSSR), and to identify aspects of Theory of Philosophy in the Standard Curriculum for Primary Schools. The Malay language Primary School Curriculum is designed to enable students to be competent speakers and communicators of the language in order to gain knowledge, skills, information, values, and ideas and to enhance skills in social relations. Therefore, this study is designed to help educators to achieve all the stated goals. At the same time students at primary school level are expected to be able to apply the principle of language perfection as stated in the Philosophy of Language Theory to enable them to understand, appreciate and to take pride in being a Malaysian who speaks the language well. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language" title="language">language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=philosophy" title=" philosophy"> philosophy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=theory" title=" theory"> theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=curriculum" title=" curriculum"> curriculum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=standard" title=" standard"> standard</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=national%20education%20philosophy" title=" national education philosophy"> national education philosophy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27511/the-philosophy-of-language-theory-in-the-standard-malay-primary-school-curriculum-in-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27511.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">594</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">107</span> Health Promotion Program on Prevention of Zoonotic Diseases among Aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Fatimah%20Kader%20Maideen">Siti Fatimah Kader Maideen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Rashid"> Abdul Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Indah%20Ahmad"> Nur Indah Ahmad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Indigenous people have an increased risk of contracting zoonotic infections due to their practices. Similarly, the aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia, the Orang Asli, have a higher risk too. This study aimed to empower the Jahai children on the prevention of zoonotic infections by implementing a health promotion intervention program. Methods: A non-experimental pre and post-test interventional study was conducted among the indigenous primary school children aged between nine and 12 years in Perak, Malaysia. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the pre-and post-knowledge and attitudes towards zoonotic infections and hand hygiene practice. This is followed by three sessions of the health promotion program. Ethical approval was obtained prior to the data collection. Data were analysed using SPSS software. Results: The knowledge on whether diseases can spread from animals to humans, transmission via saliva and faeces, types of organisms that can infect, and signs and symptoms increased significantly between pre and post. Significant improvements were observed in the attitude and practices too. Conclusion: The intervention program demonstrated improvement in the knowledge, attitude, and practice among the children. The continuous program needs to be conducted for a sustainable outcome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20promotion" title="health promotion">health promotion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zoonotic%20infections" title=" zoonotic infections"> zoonotic infections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aborigines" title=" aborigines"> aborigines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge" title=" knowledge"> knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=practice" title=" practice"> practice</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137106/health-promotion-program-on-prevention-of-zoonotic-diseases-among-aborigines-in-peninsular-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137106.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">106</span> The Digital Library and Its Influential Role in Developing the Establishment of the Grand Egyptian Museum</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haitham%20Magdy%20Hamad">Haitham Magdy Hamad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Ahmed%20Madkour"> Mohamed Ahmed Madkour</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The essential role of the digital library in developing museum display methods, recording ancient Egyptian antiquities, facilitating scientific research, and storing antiquities in the Grand Egyptian Museum, which helped and saved a lot of time and money spent to equip the Grand Egyptian Museum. A SCC mix is defined as successful if it flows freely and cohesively without the intervention of mechanical compaction. The construction industry is showing high tendency to use SCC in many contemporary projects to benefit from the various advantages offered by this technology. At this point, a main question is raised regarding the effect of enhanced fluidity of SCC on the structural behavior of high strength self-consolidating reinforced concrete. A three phase research program was conducted at the American University of Beirut (AUB) to address this concern. The first two phases consisted of comparative studies conducted on concrete and mortar mixes prepared with second generation Sulphonated Naphtalene-based superplasticizer (SNF) or third generation Polycarboxylate Ethers-based superplasticizer (PCE). The third phase of the research program investigates and compares the structural performance of high strength reinforced concrete beam specimens prepared with two different generations of superplasticizers that formed the unique variable between the concrete mixes. The beams were designed to test and exhibit flexure, shear, or bond splitting failure. The outcomes of the experimental work revealed comparable resistance of beam specimens cast using self-compacting concrete and conventional vibrated concrete. The dissimilarities in the experimental values between the SCC and the control VC beams were minimal, leading to a conclusion, that the high consistency of SCC has little effect on the flexural, shear and bond strengths of concrete members. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-consolidating%20concrete%20%28SCC%29" title="self-consolidating concrete (SCC)">self-consolidating concrete (SCC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high-strength%20concrete" title=" high-strength concrete"> high-strength concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concrete%20admixtures" title=" concrete admixtures"> concrete admixtures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical%20properties%20of%20hardened%20SCC" title=" mechanical properties of hardened SCC"> mechanical properties of hardened SCC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20behavior%20of%20reinforced%20concrete%20beams" title=" structural behavior of reinforced concrete beams"> structural behavior of reinforced concrete beams</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6469/overview-studies-of-high-strength-self-consolidating-concrete" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6469.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">255</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">104</span> Levels of Loneliness and Quality of Life Among Retirees in Kuwait: Implication to Practice</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamad%20Alhamad">Hamad Alhamad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: The number of retirees in Kuwait is rising quickly, and this is causing more people to become concerned about their well-being. The results of the SF-36 health related questionnaire, participants scores in the eight domains: Physical functioning, general health, role limitations due to physical and emotional health, energy, social functioning, pain, and emotional wellbeing , scored low means. The average of the means was calculated and was (49.8), which indicated that all participants have moderately low Quality of life. Significant relationship with p value equal to ( p= 0.004), was found between a sociodemographic characteristic and level of loneliness in which retirees who were married indicated higher levels of loneliness compared to the single, divorced, and widowed retirees. Conclusion: The study revealed retirees in Kuwait feel moderate loneliness and have a low Quality of Time. The study indicates that retirees should be more considered emotionally and improved and help explore the negative effects on their quality of time In addition to exploring the leading factors to the feeling of loneliness. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=older%20adults" title="older adults">older adults</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20isolation" title=" social isolation"> social isolation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=work" title=" work"> work</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retirement" title=" retirement"> retirement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170287/levels-of-loneliness-and-quality-of-life-among-retirees-in-kuwait-implication-to-practice" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170287.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">103</span> Streptococcus anginosus Infections; Clinical and Bacteriologic Characteristics: A 6-Year Retrospective Study of Adult Patients in Qatar</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adila%20Shaukat">Adila Shaukat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hussam%20Al%20Soub"> Hussam Al Soub</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muna%20Al%20Maslamani"> Muna Al Maslamani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdullatif%20Al%20Khal"> Abdullatif Al Khal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: The aim of this study was to assess clinical presentation and antimicrobial susceptibility of Streptococcus (S.) anginosus group infections in Hamad General Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in the state of Qatar, which is a multinational community. The S. anginosus group is a subgroup of viridans streptococci that consist of 3 different species: S. anginosus, S. constellatus, and S. intermedius. Although a part of the human bacteria flora, they have potential to cause suppurative infections. Method: We studied a total of 101 patients with S. anginosus group infections from January 2006 until March 2012 by reviewing medical records and identification of organisms by VITEK 2 and MALDI-TOF. Results: The most common sites of infection were skin and soft tissue, intra-abdominal, and bacteremia (28.7%, 24.8%, and 22.7%, respectively). Abscess formation was seen in approximately 30% of patients. Streptococcus constellatus was the most common isolated species (40%) followed by S. anginosus(30%) and S. intermedius(7%). In 23% of specimens, the species was unidentified. The most common type of specimen for organism isolation was blood followed by pus and tissue (50%, 22%, and 8%, respectively). Streptococcus constellatus was more frequently associated with abdominal and skin and soft tissue infections than the other 2 species, whereas S. anginosus was isolated more frequently from blood. All isolates were susceptible to penicillin, ceftriaxone, and vancomycin. Susceptibility to erythromycin and clindamycin was also good, reaching 91% and 95%, respectively. Forty percent of patients needed surgical drainage along with antibiotic therapy. Conclusions: Identification of S. anginosus group to species level is helpful in clinical practice because different species exhibit different pathogenic potentials. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=abscess" title="abscess">abscess</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bacterial%20infection" title=" bacterial infection"> bacterial infection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bacteremia" title=" bacteremia"> bacteremia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Streptococcus%20anginosus" title=" Streptococcus anginosus"> Streptococcus anginosus</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124523/streptococcus-anginosus-infections-clinical-and-bacteriologic-characteristics-a-6-year-retrospective-study-of-adult-patients-in-qatar" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124523.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">143</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">102</span> Improved Image Retrieval for Efficient Localization in Urban Areas Using Location Uncertainty Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdi%20Salarian">Mahdi Salarian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xi%20Xu"> Xi Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Ansari"> Rashid Ansari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Accurate localization of mobile devices based on camera-acquired visual media information usually requires a search over a very large GPS-referenced image database. This paper proposes an efficient method for limiting the search space for image retrieval engine by extracting and leveraging additional media information about Estimated Positional Error (EP E) to address complexity and accuracy issues in the search, especially to be used for compensating GPS location inaccuracy in dense urban areas. The improved performance is achieved by up to a hundred-fold reduction in the search area used in available reference methods while providing improved accuracy. To test our procedure we created a database by acquiring Google Street View (GSV) images for down town of Chicago. Other available databases are not suitable for our approach due to lack of EP E for the query images. We tested the procedure using more than 200 query images along with EP E acquired mostly in the densest areas of Chicago with different phones and in different conditions such as low illumination and from under rail tracks. The effectiveness of our approach and the effect of size and sector angle of the search area are discussed and experimental results demonstrate how our proposed method can improve performance just by utilizing a data that is available for mobile systems such as smart phones. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=localization" title="localization">localization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=retrieval" title=" retrieval"> retrieval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GPS%20uncertainty" title=" GPS uncertainty"> GPS uncertainty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bag%20of%20word" title=" bag of word"> bag of word</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51760/improved-image-retrieval-for-efficient-localization-in-urban-areas-using-location-uncertainty-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/51760.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">283</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">101</span> Use of High Hydrostatic Pressure as an Alternative Preservation Method in Camels Milk</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fahad%20Aljasass">Fahad Aljasass</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamza%20Abu-Tarboush"> Hamza Abu-Tarboush</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salah%20Aleid"> Salah Aleid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siddig%20Hamad"> Siddig Hamad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The effects of different high hydrostatic pressure treatments on the shelf life of camel’s milk were studied. Treatments at 300 to 350 MPa for 5 minutes at 40°C reduced microbial contamination to levels that prolonged the shelf life of refrigerated (3° C) milk up to 28 days. The treatment resulted in a decrease in the proteolytic activity of the milk. The content of proteolytic enzymes in the untreated milk sample was 4.23 µM/ml. This content decreased significantly to 3.61 µM/ml when the sample was treated at 250 MPa. Treatment at 300 MPa decreased the content to 3.90 which was not significantly different from the content of the untreated sample. The content of the sample treated at 350 MPa dropped to 2.98 µM/ml which was significantly lower than the contents of all other treated and untreated samples. High pressure treatment caused a slight but statistically significant increase in the pH of camel’s milk. The pH of the untreated sample was 6.63, which increased significantly to 6.70, in the samples treated at 250 and 350 MPa, but insignificantly in the sample treated at 300 MPa. High pressure treatment resulted in some degree of milk fat oxidation. The thiobarbituric acid (TBA) value of the untreated sample was 0.86 mg malonaldehyde/kg milk. This value remained unchanged in the sample treated at 250 MPa, but then it increased significantly to 1.25 and 1.33 mg/kg in the samples treated at 300 and 350 MPa, respectively. High pressure treatment caused a small increase in the greenness (a* value) of camel’s milk. The value of a* was reduced from -1.17 for the untreated sample to -1.26, -1.21 and -1.30 for the samples treated at 250, 300 and 350 MPa, respectively. Δa* at the 250 MPa treatment was -0.09, which then decreased to -0.04 at the 300 MPa treatment to increase again to -0.13 at the 350 MPa treatment. The yellowness (b* value) of camel’s milk increased significantly as a result of high pressure treatment. The b* value of the untreated sample was 1.40, this value increased to 2.73, 2.31 and 2.18 after treatments at 250, 300 and 350 MPa, respectively. The Δb* value was +1.33 at the treatment 250 MPa, decreased to +0.91 at 300 MPa and further to +0.78 at 350 MPa. The pressure treatment caused slight effect on color, slight decrease in protease activity and a slight increase in the oxidation products of lipids. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20hydrostatic%20pressure" title="high hydrostatic pressure">high hydrostatic pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=camel%E2%80%99s%20milk" title=" camel’s milk"> camel’s milk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mesophilic%20aerobic%20bacteria" title=" mesophilic aerobic bacteria"> mesophilic aerobic bacteria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clotting" title=" clotting"> clotting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protease" title=" protease "> protease </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56106/use-of-high-hydrostatic-pressure-as-an-alternative-preservation-method-in-camels-milk" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56106.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">268</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">100</span> Application of Computational Flow Dynamics (CFD) Analysis for Surge Inception and Propagation for Low Head Hydropower Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Mohsin%20Munir">M. Several mathematical models exist that employ one-dimensional modeling for the determination of surge but none of these perfectly simulate real-time circumstances. The paper envisages investigation of surge inception and propagation for a Low Head Hydropower project using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis on FLOW-3D software package. The fluid dynamic model utilizes its analysis for surge by employing Reynolds’ Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations (RANSE). The CFD model is designed for a case study at Taunsa hydropower Project in Pakistan. Various scenarios have run through the model keeping in view upstream boundary conditions. The prototype results were then compared with the results of physical model testing for the same scenarios. The results of the numerical model proved quite accurate coherence with the physical model testing and offers insight into phenomenon which are not apparent in physical model and shall be adopted in future for the similar low head projects limiting delays and cost incurred in the physical model testing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surge" title="surge">surge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FLOW-3D" title=" FLOW-3D"> FLOW-3D</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20model" title=" numerical model"> numerical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taunsa" title=" Taunsa"> Taunsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RANSE" title=" RANSE"> RANSE</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36198/application-of-computational-flow-dynamics-cfd-analysis-for-surge-inception-and-propagation-for-low-head-hydropower-projects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36198.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">361</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">99</span> Screening of Potential Cytotoxic Activities of Some Medicinal Plants of Saudi Arabia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Farooq%20Adil">Syed Farooq Adil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Merajuddinkhan"> Merajuddinkhan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mujeeb%20Khan"> Mujeeb Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamad%20Z.%20Alkhathlan"> Hamad Z. However, plants of different origins exhibit diverse chemical compositions and bioactivities. Therefore, the discovery of plants based new anticancer agents from different parts of the world is always challenging. In this study, methanolic extracts of different parts of 11 plants from Saudi Arabia have been tested in vitro for their anticancer potential on human liver cancer cell line (HepG2). Particularly, for this study, plants from Asteraceae, Resedaceae, and Polygonaceae families were chosen on the basis of locally available ethnobotanical data and their medicinal properties. Among 12 tested extract samples, three samples obtained from Artemisia monosperma stem, Ochradenus baccatus aerial parts, and Pulicaria glutinosa stem have demonstrated interesting cytotoxic activities with a cell viability of 29.3%, 28.4% and 24.2%, respectively. Whereas, four plant extracts including Calendula arvensis aerial parts, Scorzonera musilii whole plant, A. monosperma leaves show moderate anticancer properties bearing a cell viability ranging from 11.9 to 16.7%. The remaining extracts have shown poor cytotoxic activities. Subsequently, GC-MS analysis of methanolic extracts of the four most active plants extracts such as C. comosum, O. baccatus, P. glutinosa and A. monosperma detected the presence of 41 phytomolecules. Among which 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propionitrile (1), 8,11-octadecadiynoic acid methyl ester (2), 6,7-dimethoxycoumarin (3), and 1-(2-hydroxyphenyl) ethenone (4) were found to be the lead compounds of C. comosum, O. baccatus P. glutinosa and A. monosperma, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medicinal%20plants" title="medicinal plants">medicinal plants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asteraceae" title=" asteraceae"> asteraceae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polygonaceae" title=" polygonaceae"> polygonaceae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hepg2" title=" hepg2"> hepg2</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147969/screening-of-potential-cytotoxic-activities-of-some-medicinal-plants-of-saudi-arabia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147969.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">127</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">98</span> Teaching Tools for Web Processing Services</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Javed">Rashid Javed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hardy%20Lehmkuehler"> Hardy Lehmkuehler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Franz%20Josef-Behr"> Franz Josef-Behr</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Web Processing Services (WPS) have up growing concern in geoinformation research. However, teaching about them is difficult because of the generally complex circumstances of their use. They limit the possibilities for hands- on- exercises on Web Processing Services. To support understanding however a Training Tools Collection was brought on the way at University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart (HFT). It is limited to the scope of Geostatistical Interpolation of sample point data where different algorithms can be used like IDW, Nearest Neighbor etc. The Tools Collection aims to support understanding of the scope, definition and deployment of Web Processing Services. For example it is necessary to characterize the input of Interpolation by the data set, the parameters for the algorithm and the interpolation results (here a grid of interpolated values is assumed). This paper reports on first experiences using a pilot installation. This was intended to find suitable software interfaces for later full implementations and conclude on potential user interface characteristics. Experiences were made with Deegree software, one of several Services Suites (Collections). Being strictly programmed in Java, Deegree offers several OGC compliant Service Implementations that also promise to be of benefit for the project. The mentioned parameters for a WPS were formalized following the paradigm that any meaningful component will be defined in terms of suitable standards. E.g. the data output can be defined as a GML file. But, the choice of meaningful information pieces and user interactions is not free but partially determined by the selected WPS Processing Suite. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deegree" title="deegree">deegree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interpolation" title=" interpolation"> interpolation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IDW" title=" IDW"> IDW</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web%20processing%20service%20%28WPS%29" title=" web processing service (WPS)"> web processing service (WPS)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36347/teaching-tools-for-web-processing-services" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36347.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">355</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">97</span> Means of Securing Graves in the Egyptian Kingdom Era</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Ahmed%20Madkour">Mohamed Ahmed Madkour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haitham%20Magdy%20Hamad"> Haitham Magdy Hamad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research aims to study the means of securing graves in the Egyptian kingdom era, and revolves around many basic ideas used by the ancient Egyptian to protect his graves from thieves, which included architectural characteristics, which gave it importance only others. The most important of which was the choice of the place of the grave, which chose a kohl place in the desert to protect the graves, which is the valley of kings, and whether the choice of that place had an impact in protecting the grave or not, in addition to other elements followed in the architectural planning, which was in the valley of kings. The multiplicity of the tomb, the construction of the well chamber to deceive the thieves by the end of the graves suddenly, the construction of the wells of the tombs, which contained the burial chamber at the bottom of the main well and the effect of all these factors on the graves, and this shows the importance of the graves to the ancient Egyptian and his belief in resurrection and immortality. The Egyptian resorted to the elements of protection and was a religious worker by The protector gods and special texts to protect the deceased from any danger to protect the tomb. Cyclic CO2 injection is an enhanced oil recovery process consisting of injection, shut-in, and production. The study of cyclic CO2 injection and hydrocarbon recovery in ultra-low permeability reservoirs is mainly a function of rock, fluid, and operational parameters. CMG-GEM was used to study several design parameters of cyclic CO2 injection process to distinguish the parameters with maximum effect on the oil recovery and to comprehend the behavior of cyclic CO2 injection in tight reservoir. On the other hand, permeability reduction induced by asphaltene precipitation is one of the major issues in the oil industry due to its plugging onto the porous media which reduces the oil productivity. In addition to asphaltene deposition, solubility of CO2 in the aquifer is one of the safest and permanent trapping techniques when considering CO2 storage mechanisms in geological formations. However, the effects of the above uncertain parameters on the process of CO2 enhanced oil recovery have&nbsp;not&nbsp;been understood systematically. Hence, it is absolutely necessary to study the most significant parameters which dominate the process. The main objective of this study is to improve techniques for designing cyclic CO2 injection process while considering the effects of asphaltene deposition and solubility of CO2 in the brine in order to prevent asphaltene precipitation, minimize CO2 emission, optimize cyclic CO2 injection, and maximize oil production. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tight%20reservoirs" title="tight reservoirs">tight reservoirs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclic%20O%E2%82%82%20injection" title=" cyclic O₂ injection"> cyclic O₂ injection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asphaltene" title=" asphaltene"> asphaltene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solubility" title=" solubility"> solubility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reservoir%20simulation" title=" reservoir simulation"> reservoir simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72427/simulation-study-of-asphaltene-deposition-and-solubility-of-co2-in-the-brine-during-cyclic-co2-injection-process-in-unconventional-tight-reservoirs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/72427.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">386</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">95</span> Empowering Nigerian Rural Women through Ownership of Productive Resources</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sidiqat%20A.%20Aderinoye-Abdulwahab">Sidiqat A. The study adopted a case study design while employing qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to identify 7 locations, where 88 women were selected based on simple random sampling technique. Focus group discussions and questionnaire were used to elicit information. Gender analysis framework was used to explore and analyse the data generated for the study. The study found that the rural women desire to engage in gainful economic activities. However, cultural barriers prevent them from adequately exploring livelihood-improving opportunities. It was established that ownership of productive resources such as land and livestock can enhance their livelihoods provided cultural and governance issues do not deter them from accessing the services. It was therefore recommended that appropriate policies that will favour the access and ownership of assets by women so as to empower them need to be in place. The study provides a nuanced perspective on the influence and relevance of possession of physical assets in enhancing women’s livelihood diversification and overall development of rural livelihoods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=livelihoods" title="livelihoods">livelihoods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=productivity" title=" productivity"> productivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development" title=" development"> development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economic%20activities" title=" economic activities"> economic activities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=socio-economic%20empowerment" title=" socio-economic empowerment"> socio-economic empowerment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9004/empowering-nigerian-rural-women-through-ownership-of-productive-resources" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9004.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">259</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">94</span> Predictors and 3-Year Outcomes of Compromised Left Circumflex Coronary Artery After Left Main Crossover Stenting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hameed%20Ullah">Hameed Ullah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karim%20Elakabawi"> Karim Elakabawi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Han%20KE"> Han KE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Najeeb%20Ullah"> Najeeb Ullah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Habib%20Ullah"> Habib Ullah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sardar%20Ali%20Shah"> Sardar Ali Shah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamad%20Haider%20Khan"> Hamad Haider Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Asad%20Khan"> Muhammad Asad Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ning%20Guo"> Ning Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zuyi%20Yuan"> Zuyi Yuan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Predictors of decreased fractional flow reserve at left circumflex coronary artery after left main (LM) crossover stenting are still lacking. The objectives of the present study were to provide the predictors for low Fractional flow reserve (FFR) at coronary artery (LCx) and the possible treatment strategies for the compromised LCx-together with their long term outcomes. Methods: A total of 563 included patients out of 1974 patients admitted to our hospital from February 2015 to November 2020 with significant distal LM-bifurcation lesions. The enrolled patients underwent single-stent cross-over PCI under IVUS guidance with further LCx intervention as indicated by measured FFR. Results: The included patients showed angiographic significant LCx ostial affection after LM-stenting, but only 116 (20.6%) patients had FFR <0.8. The 3-year composite MACE rates were comparable between the high and low FFR groups (16.8% vs. 15.5%, respectively; P=0.744). In a multivariable analysis, a low FFR in the LCx was associated with post-stenting MLA of the LCx (OR: 0.032, P <0.001), post-stenting LCx-plaque burden (OR: 1.166, P <0.001), post-stenting LM-MLA (OR: 0.821, P =0.038) and pre-stenting LCx-MLA (OR: 0.371, P =0.044). In patients with low FFR, management of compromised LCx with DEB had the lowest 3-year MACE rate (8.1%) as compared to either KBI (17.5%) or stenting group (20.5%), P =0.299. Conclusion: FFR-guided LCx intervention can avoid unnecessary LCx intervention. The post-stenting predictors of low FFR include post-stenting MLA and plaque burden of the LCx and MV stent length. The 3-year MACE rates were comparable between high FFR patients and patients who had low FFR and were adequately managed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fractional%20flow%20reserve" title="fractional flow reserve">fractional flow reserve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=left%20main%20stem" title=" left main stem"> left main stem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=percutaneous%20coronary%20interventions" title=" percutaneous coronary interventions"> percutaneous coronary interventions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intravascular%20ultrasound" title=" intravascular ultrasound"> intravascular ultrasound</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185752/predictors-and-3-year-outcomes-of-compromised-left-circumflex-coronary-artery-after-left-main-crossover-stenting" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185752.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">39</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">93</span> Foliar Feeding of Methyl Jasmonate Induces Resistance in Normal and Salinity Stressed Tomato Plants, at Different Stages</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Manan">Abdul Manan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Choudhary%20Muhammad%20Ayyub"> Choudhary Muhammad Ayyub</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Ahmad"> Rashid Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Adnan%20Bukhari"> Muhammad Adnan Bukhari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A project was designed to investigate the effect of foliar application of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) on physiological, biochemical and ionic attributes of salinity stressed and normal tomato plants at different stages. Salinity stress at every stage markedly reduced the net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, water relations parameters, protein contents, total free aminoacids and potassium (K+) contents. While, antioxidant enzymes (peroxidase (POX) and catalase (CAT)), sodium (Na+) contents and proline contents were increased substantially. Foliar application of MeJA ameliorated the drastic effects of salinity regime by recovery of physiological and biochemical attributes by enhanced production of antioxidant enzymes and osmoprotectants. The efficacy of MeJA at very initial stage (15 days after sowing (15 DAS)).proved effective for attenuating the deleterious effects of salinity stress than other stages (15 days after transplanting (15 DAT) and 30 days after transplanting (30 DAT)). To the best of our knowledge, different times of foliar feeding of MeJA was observed first time for amelioration of salinity stress in tomato plants that would be of pivotal significance for scientist to better understand the dynamics of physiological and biochemical processes in tomato. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methyl%20jasmonate" title="methyl jasmonate">methyl jasmonate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=osmoregulation" title=" osmoregulation"> osmoregulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=salinity%20stress" title=" salinity stress"> salinity stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stress%20tolerance" title=" stress tolerance"> stress tolerance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tomato" title=" tomato"> tomato</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54170/foliar-feeding-of-methyl-jasmonate-induces-resistance-in-normal-and-salinity-stressed-tomato-plants-at-different-stages" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/54170.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">92</span> Hybrid Sol-Gel Coatings for Corrosion Protection of AA6111-T4 Aluminium Alloy </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shadatul%20Hanom%20Rashid">Shadatul Hanom Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaorong%20Zhou"> Xiaorong Zhou</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Hybrid sol-gel coatings are the blend of both advantages of inorganic and organic networks have been reported as environmentally friendly anti-corrosion surface pre-treatment for several metals, including aluminum alloys. In this current study, Si-Zr hybrid sol-gel coatings were synthesized from (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS), tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and zirconium(IV) propoxide (TPOZ) precursors and applied on AA6111 aluminum alloy by dip coating technique. The hybrid sol-gel coatings doped with different concentrations of cerium nitrate (Ce(NO3)3) as a corrosion inhibitor were also prepared and the effect of Ce(NO3)3 concentrations on the morphology and corrosion resistance of the coatings were examined. The surface chemistry and morphology of the hybrid sol-gel coatings were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The corrosion behavior of the coated aluminum alloy samples was evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Results revealed that good corrosion resistance of hybrid sol-gel coatings were prepared from hydrolysis and condensation reactions of GPTMS, TEOS and TPOZ precursors deposited on AA6111 aluminum alloy. When the coating doped with cerium nitrate, the properties were improved significantly. The hybrid sol-gel coatings containing lower concentration of cerium nitrate offer the best inhibition performance. A proper doping concentration of Ce(NO3)3 can effectively improve the corrosion resistance of the alloy, while an excessive concentration of Ce(NO3)3 would reduce the corrosion protection properties, which is associated with defective morphology and instability of the sol-gel coatings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AA6111" title="AA6111">AA6111</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ce%28NO3%293" title=" Ce(NO3)3"> Ce(NO3)3</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corrosion" title=" corrosion"> corrosion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20sol-gel%20coatings" title=" hybrid sol-gel coatings"> hybrid sol-gel coatings</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86720/hybrid-sol-gel-coatings-for-corrosion-protection-of-aa6111-t4-aluminium-alloy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86720.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">158</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">91</span> The Influence of Mobile Phone Addiction on Academic Performance among Teenagers in Shah Alam, Malaysia </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamaluddin%20Abd%20Rashid">Jamaluddin Abd Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aris%20Abdul%20Rahman"> Aris Abdul Rahman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mobile phones have become the most popular way to communicate with other individuals and it has created an unspoken social dependency. Making phone calls, instant messaging, playing online games and accessing the Internet are among the features added to a mobile phone, attracting teenagers to spend more hours fixated on their gadgets. As such, this study attempted to examine the frequency of time spent on mobile phones and how this influenced academic performance. A quantitative methodology was applied in this study, where face to face survey through the distribution of questionnaires was facilitated onto a group of 200 secondary school students from the Shah Alam community in Selangor,Malaysia. Both genders, male and females were assessed equally to find out if there exists a correlation between genders when measuring higher or lower frequency of attachment to mobile phones. It can also be seen that 100% correspondents have a mobile phone in their possession. The adolescents uses mobile phones daily, which shows students being somewhat addicted, as they tend to feel that it is necessary to use a mobile phone. The main findings of this research found out that, students that are mobile phone addictive received a lower grade in schools. Mobile phone addiction does affect academic performance negatively. As this study discusses the modern-day phenomenon, it is hoped that the findings and discussion could add to present literary works and help future researchers understand the relationship between mobile phone addiction and academic performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20performance" title="academic performance">academic performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20phone%20addiction" title=" mobile phone addiction"> mobile phone addiction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20media" title=" social media"> social media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=student" title=" student "> student </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93790/the-influence-of-mobile-phone-addiction-on-academic-performance-among-teenagers-in-shah-alam-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93790.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">346</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">90</span> Incidence of Post Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography Biliary Ascariasis Diagnosed on Ultrasound</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shehzad%20Khan">Shehzad Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jehangir%20Khan"> Jehangir Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shah%20Babar"> Shah Babar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Mahmood"> Rashid Mahmood</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rizwan%20Khan"> Rizwan Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sanya%20Hadi"> Sanya Hadi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Ascaris lumbricoides are familiar with the roundworm that causes biliary infections in humans. Nevertheless, ascariasis is primarily found in the jejunum and transferred in numerous body parts with the intake of Ascaris lumbricoides present in food and water. These study methods were implemented at the Saidu Teaching Hospital Radiology Department from December 2021 to January 2023. This study includes the participants suffering from biliary ascariasis admitted or visited Saidu Teaching Hospital in that time frame. Clinical assessment of the participants was done based on the appearance of signs and symptoms present in them. The participant's laboratory test was done to determine the level of basic body parameters. After that ultrasonography was used to diagnose the presence and appearance of worms. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) was used to extract worms from biliary channels, and the incidence of post-ERCP biliary ascariasis was accessed with ultrasonography. This study's results show the presence of numerous types of worms in the biliary channels of patients. Also, the level of body parameters, for instance, neutrophil, hemoglobin, and others, were compared at the time of admission and at the time of discharge from the hospital. Furthermore, the incidence of post-ERCP biliary ascariasis was reported as 4% in females, and 1% in males, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ascaris" title="Ascaris">Ascaris</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biliary" title=" biliary"> biliary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ERCP" title=" ERCP"> ERCP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasound" title=" ultrasound"> ultrasound</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165591/incidence-of-post-endoscopic-retrograde-cholangiopancreatography-biliary-ascariasis-diagnosed-on-ultrasound" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165591.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">101</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">89</span> The Role of Universities in Saudi Arabia in Environmental Awareness</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamad%20Albadr">Hamad Albadr</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With the growth that has occurred in the orientation of universities from liability cognitive and maintain the culture of the community to liability functional creating graduates to work according to the needs of the community development; representing the university in today's world, the prime mover of the wheel of development in the community and find appropriate solutions to the problems they are facing and adapt to the demands of the changing environment. A two phase flow is susceptible to thermal-hydrodynamic instabilities, which may cause flow oscillations of constant amplitude or diverging amplitude. These oscillations may induce boiling crisis, disturb control systems, or cause mechanical damage. Based on their mechanisms, various types of instabilities can be classified for a nuclear reactor. From a practical engineering point of view one of the major design difficulties in dealing with multiphase flow is that the mass, momentum, and energy transfer rates and processes may be quite sensitive to the geometric configuration of the heat transfer surface. Moreover, the flow within each phase or component will clearly depend on that geometric configuration. The complexity of this two-way coupling presents a major challenge in the study of multiphase flows and there is much that remains to be done. Yet, the parametric effects on flow instability such as the effect of aspect ratio, pressure drop, channel length, its orientation inlet subcooling and surface roughness etc. have been analyzed. Another frequently occurring instability, known as the Kelvin–Helmholtz instability has been briefly reviewed. Various analytical techniques for predicting parametric effect on the instability are analyzed in terms of their applicability and accuracy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two%20phase%20flows" title="two phase flows">two phase flows</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=boiling%20crisis" title=" boiling crisis"> boiling crisis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal-hydrodynamic%20instabilities" title=" thermal-hydrodynamic instabilities"> thermal-hydrodynamic instabilities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20cooled%20nuclear%20reactors" title=" water cooled nuclear reactors"> water cooled nuclear reactors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kelvin%E2%80%93helmholtz%20instability" title=" kelvin–helmholtz instability"> kelvin–helmholtz instability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40906/analysis-of-two-phase-flow-instabilities-in-conventional-channel-of-nuclear-power-reactor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40906.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">87</span> Prasugrel as First-line Therapy for Stemi Patients Undergoing PPCI</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Diab%20Z.">Diab Z.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamad%20A."> Hamad A.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dixit%20A."> Dixit A.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Al-Rikabi%20M."> Al-Rikabi M.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Keshaverzi%20F."> Keshaverzi F.</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: According to the NICE guidelines, 2020Prasugrel is the recommended first line treatment in adults with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) in patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), defined as ST elevation or new left bundle branch block on ECG , that cardiologists intend to treat with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The current literature suggests that this is largely due to safety and efficacy, and cost effectiveness. We wanted to do an audit to examine the adherence of the MRI hospital with guidelines in using prasugrel as first-line therapy in patients with STEMI and undergoing PPCI. AIM: To examine the adherence of the MRI hospital with guidelines in using prasugrel as first-line therapy in patients with STEMI and undergoing PPCI Methods: We looked at the patients presented to MRI during1^st of January 2022 to 28th February 2022. We included all the people who were above 18 and were brought to the hospital through the PPCI pathway and diagnosed as ACS and underwent PPCI. We excluded Patients who were brought to the hospital through the PPCI pathway and underwent coronary angiography and their diagnosis was found other than STEMI or if the outcome was death before discharge or they were above age >75 (as per guideline increase bleeding risk of prasugrel in a person aged 75 or older). Results: The total number of patients was 100. There were a total of seventy patients who had STEMI and fit the criteria for inclusion. Out of these, only 72.9% (51) were given Prasugrel as a first line. Seventeen (17) 24.3% STEMI patients were candidates for prasugrel as first-line therapy but were instead offered (clopidogrel/ticagrelor). Two 2 (2.9%) STEMI patients were not given prasugrel as first-line therapy because of C/I (CVA) or the use of anticoagulant Nine 9 (9%) of them died before discharge. Eleven 11 (11%) were above the age of 75. Ten 10 (10%) of patients had a diagnosis other than STEMI. Conclusions and recommendations: Our audit has shown the need to increase awareness amongst staff re: the first line use of Prasugrel as per NICE guidelines. We aim to arrange awareness sessions for staff and increase visibility of the guidelines for the staff to encourage them to adhere to the guideline. Further research is needed to find the optimum treatment in patients above 75. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pasurgrel" title="pasurgrel">pasurgrel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PCI" title=" PCI"> PCI</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NICE" title=" NICE"> NICE</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=STEMI" title=" STEMI"> STEMI</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156523/prasugrel-as-first-line-therapy-for-stemi-patients-undergoing-ppci" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156523.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">74</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">86</span> Magnetic Field Effects on Seed Germination of Phaseolus Vulgaris, Early Seedling Growth, and Chemical Composition</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farzad%20Tofigh">Farzad Tofigh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeideh%20Najafi"> Saeideh Najafi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Heidari"> Reza Heidari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashid%20Jamei"> Rashid Jamei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to study the effects of magnetic field on the root system and growth of Phaseolus vulgaris, an experiment was conducted in 2012. The possible involvement of magnetic field (MF) pretreatment in physiological factors of Phaseolus vulgaris was investigated. Seeds were subjected to 10 days with 1.8 mT of magnetic field for 1h per day. MF pretreatment decreased the plant height, fresh and dry weight, length of root and length of shoot, Chlorophyll a, Chlorophyll b and carotenoid in 10 days old seedling. In addition, activity of enzymes such as Catalase and Guaiacol peroxidase was decreased due to MF exposure. Also, the total Protein and DPPH content of the treated by magnetic field was not significantly changed in compare to control groups, while the flavonoid, Phenol and prolin content of the treated of the treated by magnetic field was significantly changed in compare to control groups. Lateral branches of roots and secondary roots increased with MF. The results suggest that pretreatment of this MF plays important roles in changes in crop productivity. In all cases there was observed a slight stimulating effect of the factors examined. The growth dynamics were weakened. The plants were shorter. Moreover, the effect of a magnetic field on the crop of Phaseolus vulgaris and its structure was small. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carotenoid" title="carotenoid">carotenoid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chlorophyll%20a" title=" chlorophyll a"> chlorophyll a</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chlorophyll%20b" title=" chlorophyll b"> chlorophyll b</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DPPH" title=" DPPH"> DPPH</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=enzymes" title=" enzymes"> enzymes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flavonoid" title=" flavonoid"> flavonoid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=germination" title=" germination"> germination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth" title=" growth"> growth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phenol" title=" phenol"> phenol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=proline" title=" proline"> proline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein" title=" protein"> protein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20field" title=" magnetic field"> magnetic field</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21836/magnetic-field-effects-on-seed-germination-of-phaseolus-vulgaris-early-seedling-growth-and-chemical-composition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21836.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">502</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">85</span> Preparing Data for Calibration of Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide in Central Saudi Arabia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdulraaof%20H.%20Alqaili">Abdulraaof H. Nowadays, the evolution in roads network and highways is observed in Saudi Arabia as a result of increasing in traffic volume. Therefore, the MEPDG currently is implemented for flexible pavement design by the Saudi Ministry of Transportation. Implementation of MEPDG for local pavement design requires the calibration of distress models under the local conditions (traffic, climate, and materials). This paper aims to prepare data for calibration of MEPDG in Central Saudi Arabia. Thus, the first goal is data collection for the design of flexible pavement from the local conditions of the Riyadh region. Since, the modifying of collected data to input data is needed; the main goal of this paper is the analysis of collected data. The data analysis in this paper includes processing each: Trucks Classification, Traffic Growth Factor, Annual Average Daily Truck Traffic (AADTT), Monthly Adjustment Factors (MAFi), Vehicle Class Distribution (VCD), Truck Hourly Distribution Factors, Axle Load Distribution Factors (ALDF), Number of axle types (single, tandem, and tridem) per truck class, cloud cover percent, and road sections selected for the local calibration. Detailed descriptions of input parameters are explained in this paper, which leads to providing of an approach for successful implementation of MEPDG. Local calibration of MEPDG to the conditions of Riyadh region can be performed based on the findings in this paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanistic-empirical%20pavement%20design%20guide%20%28MEPDG%29" title="mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (MEPDG)">mechanistic-empirical pavement design guide (MEPDG)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traffic%20characteristics" title=" traffic characteristics"> traffic characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=materials%20properties" title=" materials properties"> materials properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate" title=" climate"> climate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riyadh" title=" Riyadh"> Riyadh</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63089/preparing-data-for-calibration-of-mechanistic-empirical-pavement-design-guide-in-central-saudi-arabia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63089.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">226</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">84</span> Neo-Adjuvant B-CAT Chemotherapy in Triple Negative Breast Cancer</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muneeb%20Nasir">Muneeb Nasir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Misbah%20Masood"> Misbah Masood</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farrukh%20Rashid"> Farrukh Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abubabakar%20Shahid"> Abubabakar Shahid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Neo-adjuvant chemotherapy is a potent option for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) as these tumours lack a clearly defined therapeutic target. Several recent studies lend support that pathological complete remission (pCR) is associated with improved disease free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) and could be used as surrogate marker for DFS and OS in breast cancer patients. Methods: We have used a four-drug protocol in T3 and T4 TNBC patients either N+ or N- in the neo-adjuvant setting. The 15 patients enrolled in this study had a median age of 45 years. 12 patients went on to complete four planned cycles of B-CAT protocol. The chemotherapy regimen included inj. Bevacizumab 5mg/kg D1, inj. Adriamycin 50mg/m2 D1 and Docetaxel 65mg/m2 on D1. Inj. Cisplatin 60mg/m2 on D2. All patients received GCF support from D4 to D9 of each cycle. Results: Radiological assessment using ultrasound and PET-CT revealed a high percentage of responses. Radiological CR was documented in half of the patients (6/12) after four cycles. Remaining patients went on to receive 2 more cycles before undergoing radical surgery. pCR was documented in 7/12 patients and 3 more had a good partial response. The regimen was toxic and grade ¾ neutropenia was seen in 58% of patients. Four episodes of febrile neutropenia were reported and managed. Non-hematatological toxicities were common with mucositis, diarrhea, asthenia and neuropathy topping the list. Conclusion: B-CAT is a very active combination with very high pCR rates in TNBC. Toxicities though frequent, were manageable on outpatient basis. This protocol warrants further investigation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B-CAT%3Abevacizumab" title="B-CAT:bevacizumab">B-CAT:bevacizumab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cisplatin" title=" cisplatin"> cisplatin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adriamycin" title=" adriamycin"> adriamycin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=taxotere" title=" taxotere"> taxotere</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CR%3A%20complete%20response" title=" CR: complete response"> CR: complete response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pCR%3A%20pathological%20complete%20response" title=" pCR: pathological complete response"> pCR: pathological complete response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TNBC%3A%20triple%20negative%20breast%20cancer" title=" TNBC: triple negative breast cancer"> TNBC: triple negative breast cancer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42915/neo-adjuvant-b-cat-chemotherapy-in-triple-negative-breast-cancer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42915.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">260</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">83</span> Cascade Screening for Beta-Thalassemia in Pakistan: Relatives’ Experiences of a Decision Support Intervention in Routine Practice</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shenaz%20Ahmed">Shenaz Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hussain%20Jafri"> Hussain Jafri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammed%20Faran"> Muhammed Faran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wajeeha%20Naseer%20Ahmed"> Wajeeha Naseer Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yasmin%20Rashid"> Yasmin Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yasmin%20Ehsan"> Yasmin Ehsan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shabnam%20Bashir"> Shabnam Bashir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mushtaq%20Ahmed"> Mushtaq Ahmed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Low uptake of cascade screening for βeta-Thalassaemia Major (β-TM) in the ‘Punjab Thalassaemia Prevention Project’ (PTPP) in Pakistan led to the development of a ‘decision support intervention for relatives’ (DeSIRe). This paper presents the experiences of relatives of children with β-TM of the DeSIRe following its use by PTPP field officers in routine clinical practice. Fifty-four semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted (April to June 2021) with relatives in seven cities in the Punjab province (Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahab, Kasur, Gujranwala, Multan, and Faisalabad). Thematic analysis shows that participants were satisfied with the content of the DeSIRe and its delivery by the field officers in a family meeting. They understood the main purpose of the DeSIRe was to improve their knowledge of β-TM and its inheritance, to enable them to make decisions about thalassemia carrier testing, particularly before marriage. While participants raised concerns about the stigma of testing positive, they believed the DeSIRe was an appropriate intervention, which supported relatives to make informed decisions. Our findings show the DeSIRe is appropriate for use by healthcare professionals in routine practice in a low-middle income country and has the potential to facilitate shared decision-making about cascade screening for thalassemia. Further research is needed to prove the efficacy of the DeSIRe. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thalassemia" title="thalassemia">thalassemia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pakistan" title=" Pakistan"> Pakistan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cascade%20screening" title=" cascade screening"> cascade screening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=decision%20support" title=" decision support"> decision support</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141259/cascade-screening-for-beta-thalassemia-in-pakistan-relatives-experiences-of-a-decision-support-intervention-in-routine-practice" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/141259.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">240</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">82</span> Organotin (IV) Based Complexes as Promiscuous Antibacterials: Synthesis in vitro, in Silico Pharmacokinetic, and Docking Studies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wajid%20Rehman">Wajid Rehman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sirajul%20Haq"> Sirajul Haq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bakhtiar%20Muhammad"> Bakhtiar Muhammad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Fahad%20Hassan"> Syed Fahad Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amin%20Badshah"> Amin Badshah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Waseem"> Muhammad Waseem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fazal%20Rahim"> Fazal Rahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Obaid-Ur-Rahman%20Abid"> Obaid-Ur-Rahman Abid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farzana%20Latif%20Ansari"> Farzana Latif Ansari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umer%20Rashid"> Umer Rashid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Five novel triorganotin (IV) compounds have been synthesized and characterized. Data mining and computational analysis were utilized to derive compound promiscuity phenomenon to avoid drug attrition rate in designing antibacterials. Xanthine oxidase and human glucose- 6-phosphatase were found as only true positive off-target hits by ChEMBL database and others utilizing similarity ensemble approach. Propensity towards a-3 receptor, human macrophage migration factor and thiazolidinedione were found as false positive off targets with E-value 1/4> 10^-4 for compound 1, 3, and 4.
