Feed and water were provided for ad libitum consumption. At 15 d of age, chickens of challenge groups (from each strain) were individually inoculated with a mixture of 50000 of sporulated oocysts of 4 species including of E. acervulina (20%), E. maxima (40%), E. tenella (25%) and E. necatrix (15%) and also from the fourth day after Eimerial challenge, faecal droppings (litter samples) were collected 10 days consecutively for counting oocyst per gram (OPG). The results indicated that in the challenge groups, there was an increasing process of OPG in days of 4 to 7 post challenging and the pick level of OPG was seen at seventh day after challenging. From day 8 to 9, decreasing of OPG was happened. This decreasing continues with mild, fast and mild process to day of 13. Respectively and totally the average of OPG in the Arbor Acres group was lower than the group Ross in all days post inoculation and this difference was significant according to t-test. According to the obtained results in this study and since oocyst index almost always is considered as one of the most important indicators for coccidiosis evaluation, it can be realized that in the same surveillance condition the regarding the severity evaluation of coccidiosis, Arbor Acres strain broilers shed less oocysts than Ross strain broilers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arbor%20acres" title="arbor acres">arbor acres</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ross" title=" ross"> ross</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coccidiosis" title=" coccidiosis"> coccidiosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OPG" title=" OPG"> OPG</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3209/a-comparative-evaluation-of-broiler-strains-chickens-arbor-acres-and-ross-in-experimental-coccidiosis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">512</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">165</span> Promoting Community Food Security and Empowerment among Somali Bantu Refugees: A Case for Community Kitchen Gardens</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20D.%20Hand">Michelle D. Method: In order to develop this research, we used a systematic bibliographic review, following the process of investigation, cataloging, careful evaluation and synthesis of the documentation, associated with the method of thanatological hemenutics proposed by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. Conclusion: After a significant loss, especially the death of a loved one or family member, it is normal for the mourner, motivated by absence, to have a false perception of the presence of the deceased. This phenomenon happens whenever the mourner is in the middle of the crowd, because his selective attention causes him to perceive physical characteristics, tone of voice, or feel fragrance of the perfume that the deceased possessed. Details characterizing the dead are perceived by the mourner because he seeks the presence in the absence. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elisabeth%20K%C3%BCbler-Ross" title="Elisabeth Kübler-Ross">Elisabeth Kübler-Ross</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mourning" title=" mourning"> mourning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=selective%20attention" title=" selective attention"> selective attention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thanatology" title=" thanatology"> thanatology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83330/selective-attention-as-a-search-for-the-deceased-during-the-mourning-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83330.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">418</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">163</span> Combating Malaria: A Drug Discovery Approach Using Thiazole Derivatives Against Prolific Parasite Enzyme PfPKG</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hari%20Bezwada">Hari Bezwada</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20Cheon"> Michelle Cheon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ryan%20Divan"> Ryan Divan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hannah%20Escritor"> Hannah Escritor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20Kagramian"> Michelle Kagramian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Isha%20Korgaonkar"> Isha Korgaonkar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maya%20MacAdams"> Maya MacAdams</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Udgita%20Pamidigantam"> Udgita Pamidigantam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Richard%20Pilny"> Richard Pilny</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eleanor%20Race"> Eleanor Race</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Angadh%20Singh"> Angadh Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nathan%20Zhang"> Nathan Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LeeAnn%20Nguyen"> LeeAnn Nguyen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fina%20Liotta"> Fina Liotta</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Malaria is a deadly disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite, which continues to develop resistance to current antimalarial drugs. In this research project, the effectiveness of numerous thiazole derivatives was explored in inhibiting the PfPKG, a crucial part of the Plasmodium life cycle. This study involved the synthesis of six thiazole-derived amides to inhibit the PfPKG pathway. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Infrared (IR) spectroscopy were used to characterize these compounds. Furthermore, AutoDocking software was used to predict binding affinities of these thiazole-derived amides in silico. In silico, compound 6 exhibited the highest predicted binding affinity to PfPKG, while compound 5 had the lowest affinity. Compounds 1-4 displayed varying degrees of predicted binding affinity. In-vitro, it was found that compound 4 had the best percent inhibition, while compound 5 had the worst percent inhibition. Overall, all six compounds had weak inhibition (approximately 30-39% at 10 μM), but these results provide a foundation for future drug discovery experiments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Medicinal%20Chemistry" title="Medicinal Chemistry">Medicinal Chemistry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Malaria" title=" Malaria"> Malaria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20discovery" title=" drug discovery"> drug discovery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PfPKG" title=" PfPKG"> PfPKG</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thiazole" title=" Thiazole"> Thiazole</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Plasmodium" title=" Plasmodium"> Plasmodium</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174021/combating-malaria-a-drug-discovery-approach-using-thiazole-derivatives-against-prolific-parasite-enzyme-pfpkg" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174021.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">98</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">162</span> Influence of Canola Oil and Lysine Supplementation Diets on Growth Performance and Fatty Acid Composition of Meat in Broiler Chicks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Kiani">Ali Kiani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Davod.%20Sharifi"> Seyed Davod. The experimental diets were iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous. Feed intake and body weight gain were recorded at the end of starter (10 d), grower (24 d) and finisher (42 d) periods, and feed conversion ratio was calculated. The results showed that the weight gain of chickens fed diets containing 5% canola oil were greater than those of birds fed on other diets (P<0.05). The dietary lysine had significant effect on feed intake and diets with 25% more than recommended, increased feed intake significantly (P<0.05). The canola oil×lysine interaction effects on performance were not significant. Among all treatment birds, those fed diets containing 5% canola oil had the highest meristic acid and oleic acid content in their meat. Broilers fed diets containing 3 or 5% canola oil possessed the higher content of linolenic acid and lower content of arachidonic acid in their meat (P<0.05). The results of the present experiment indicated that the diets containing canola oil (5%) and lysine at 25% higher than requirement, improve the growth performance, carcass and breast yield of broiler, and increase the accumulation of Omega-3 fatty acids in breast meat. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=broiler" title="broiler">broiler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=canola%20oil.%20lysine" title=" canola oil. lysine"> canola oil. lysine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatty%20acid" title=" fatty acid"> fatty acid</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57810/influence-of-canola-oil-and-lysine-supplementation-diets-on-growth-performance-and-fatty-acid-composition-of-meat-in-broiler-chicks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57810.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">293</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">161</span> Hybrid Equity Warrants Pricing Formulation under Stochastic Dynamics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Teh%20Raihana%20Nazirah%20Roslan">Teh Raihana Nazirah Roslan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Zulaiha%20Ibrahim"> Siti Zulaiha Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharmila%20Karim"> Sharmila Karim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A warrant is a financial contract that confers the right but not the obligation, to buy or sell a security at a certain price before expiration. The standard procedure to value equity warrants using call option pricing models such as the Black–Scholes model had been proven to contain many flaws, such as the assumption of constant interest rate and constant volatility. In fact, existing alternative models were found focusing more on demonstrating techniques for pricing, rather than empirical testing. Therefore, a mathematical model for pricing and analyzing equity warrants which comprises stochastic interest rate and stochastic volatility is essential to incorporate the dynamic relationships between the identified variables and illustrate the real market. Here, the aim is to develop dynamic pricing formulations for hybrid equity warrants by incorporating stochastic interest rates from the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) model, along with stochastic volatility from the Heston model. The development of the model involves the derivations of stochastic differential equations that govern the model dynamics. The resulting equations which involve Cauchy problem and heat equations are then solved using partial differential equation approaches. The analytical pricing formulas obtained in this study comply with the form of analytical expressions embedded in the Black-Scholes model and other existing pricing models for equity warrants. This facilitates the practicality of this proposed formula for comparison purposes and further empirical study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cox-Ingersoll-Ross%20model" title="Cox-Ingersoll-Ross model">Cox-Ingersoll-Ross model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=equity%20warrants" title=" equity warrants"> equity warrants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heston%20model" title=" Heston model"> Heston model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20models" title=" hybrid models"> hybrid models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stochastic" title=" stochastic"> stochastic</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124157/hybrid-equity-warrants-pricing-formulation-under-stochastic-dynamics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124157.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">129</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">160</span> Maramataka ki te Tiri o Te Moana (Maramataka in Antarctica).: A Conceptual Maramataka in the Southwestern Ross Sea Region of Antarctica</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ayla%20Hoeta">Ayla Hoeta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Holly%20Winton"> Holly Winton</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Maramataka is an ancestral lunar environmental knowledge system based on environmental tohu (signs, observations or indicators), that continues to impart maatauranga (knowledge) to tangata whenua, people of the land after thousands of years. Maramataka is the mauri (energy) flow between whenua (land), moana (water) and rangi (sky), experienced through tirotiro (observing), connecting and attuning to the natural environment. Tohu serve as guidance to practises of kaiawhina (protection) a key value driving Aotearoa New Zealand led research in Antarctica. Recent developments recognise the importance of including and integrating indigenous knowledge and perspectives such as maatauranga Maaori which can provide insights into the conservation of Antarctica. We use an ancient kaupapa Maaori framework of weaving, wayfinding and attunement to navigate complexities using Hautu Waka. We investigate and weave together learnings from Antarctic and western science and indigenous Maaori maatauranga and tohu of moana, whenua and rangi to provide an indigenous perspective of Antarctica taiao and Maramataka. Drawing on past and present knowledge of environmental calendars contained in maatauranga Maaori and paleoclimate knowledge bases, field observations, interviews and whakataukii (proverbs), we aim to provide a conceptual Maramataka of the southwestern Ross Sea region and area of Antarctica. A key area of interest are the tohu related to the marama which are connected to all three interweaving spheres of moana, rangi, whenua. Maatauranga Maramataka in Aotearoa has been developed over millennia and we acknowledge the mana and sacredness of this tupuna knowledge and that this conceptual Maramataka serves as the starting point of a journey to shine light on indigenous perspectives using Maaori methods and frameworks in a dominant western science paradigm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maramataka" title="Maramataka">Maramataka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Antarctica" title=" Antarctica"> Antarctica</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aotearoa" title=" Aotearoa"> Aotearoa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maaori" title=" Maaori"> Maaori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tohu" title=" tohu"> tohu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=moon" title=" moon"> moon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lunar%20calendar" title=" lunar calendar"> lunar calendar</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172755/maramataka-ki-te-tiri-o-te-moana-maramataka-in-antarctica-a-conceptual-maramataka-in-the-southwestern-ross-sea-region-of-antarctica" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172755.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">159</span> Methylphenidate Use by Canadian Children and Adolescents and the Associated Adverse Reactions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming-Dong%20Wang">Ming-Dong Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abigail%20F.%20Ruby"> Abigail F. Ross</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Methylphenidate is a first-line treatment drug for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), a common mental health disorder in children and adolescents. Over the last several decades, the rate of children and adolescents using ADHD medication has been increasing in many countries. A recent study found that the prevalence of ADHD medication use among children aged 3-18 years increased in 13 different world regions between 2001 and 2015, where the absolute increase ranged from 0.02 to 0.26% per year. The goal of this study was to examine the use of methylphenidate in Canadian children and its associated adverse reactions. Methylphenidate use information among young Canadians aged 0-14 years was extracted from IQVIA data on prescriptions dispensed by pharmacies between April 2014 and June 2020. The adverse reaction information associated with methylphenidate use was extracted from the Canada Vigilance database for the same time period. Methylphenidate use trends were analyzed based on sex, age group (0-4 years, 5-9 years, and 10-14 years), and geographical location (province). The common classes of adverse reactions associated with methylphenidate use were sorted, and the relative risks associated with methylphenidate use as compared with two second-line amphetamine medications for ADHD were estimated. This study revealed that among Canadians aged 0-14 years, every 100 people used about 25 prescriptions (or 23,000 mg) of methylphenidate per year during the study period, and the use increased with time. Boys used almost three times more methylphenidate than girls. The amount of drug used was inversely associated with age: Canadians aged 10-14 years used nearly three times as many drugs compared to those aged 5-9 years. Seasonal methylphenidate use patterns were apparent among young Canadians, but the seasonal trends differed among the three age groups. Methylphenidate use varied from region to region, and the highest methylphenidate use was observed in Quebec, where the use of methylphenidate was at least double that of any other province. During the study period, Health Canada received 304 adverse reaction reports associated with the use of methylphenidate for Canadians aged 0-14 years. The number of adverse reaction reports received for boys was 3.5 times higher than that for girls. The three most common adverse reaction classes were psychiatric disorders, nervous system disorders and injury, poisoning procedural complications. The number one commonly reported adverse reaction for boys was aggression (11.2%), while for girls, it was a tremor (9.6%). The safety profile in terms of adverse reaction classes associated with methylphenidate use was similar to that of the selected control products. Methylphenidate is a commonly used pharmaceutical product in young Canadians, particularly in the province of Quebec. Boys used approximately three times more of this product as compared to girls. Future investigation is needed to determine what factors are associated with the observed geographic variations in Canada. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adverse%20reaction%20risk" title="adverse reaction risk">adverse reaction risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methylphenidate" title=" methylphenidate"> methylphenidate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prescription%20trend" title=" prescription trend"> prescription trend</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=use%20variation" title=" use variation"> use variation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139200/methylphenidate-use-by-canadian-children-and-adolescents-and-the-associated-adverse-reactions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/139200.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">160</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">158</span> Stop Forced Child Marriage: A Comparative Global Law Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20J.%20Miller">Michelle J. In this paper, it is assumed that such leadership decisions are made according to the situation. Thus, the optimal or at least a permissible leadership style has to be selected from a set of several possible leadership styles. For this choice, a wide range of models has been developed in the scientific literature, from which the so-called normative decision model will be picked out and focused on. In this work we study unsupervised feature learning in the context of temporally coherent video data. We focus on feature learning from unlabeled video data, using the assumption that adjacent video frames contain semantically similar information. This assumption is exploited to train a convolutional pooling auto-encoder regularized by slowness and sparsity. We establish a connection between slow feature learning to metric learning and show that the trained encoder can be used to define a more temporally and semantically coherent metric. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title="machine learning">machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pattern%20clustering" title=" pattern clustering"> pattern clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pooling" title=" pooling"> pooling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classification" title=" classification "> classification </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29488/unsupervised-learning-of-spatiotemporally-coherent-metrics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29488.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">456</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">153</span> Offshore Outsourcing: Global Data Privacy Controls and International Compliance Issues</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20J.%20Miller">Michelle J. A smaller proportion of young workers relative to older workers raises relative youth wages given imperfect labour substitution by age. Discounted lifetime labour income rises which provides a consumption dividend. Simulation results are reported for the four Scandinavian countries, adopting a simple overlapping generations model. Imperfect labour substitution is modelled using a CRESH functional form of an aggregate labour index. The magnitudes of this new consumption dividend from a Low fertility projection compared with a high fertility projection are found to be approximately 4 percent annually, on average over the Scandinavian countries in the very long run, but somewhat lower in the short term. There is some sensitivity to the interest rate and the degree of consumption smoothing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fertility" title="fertility">fertility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consumption" title=" consumption"> consumption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=productivity" title=" productivity"> productivity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=labour%20substitution" title=" labour substitution"> labour substitution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13514/the-role-of-labour-substitution-by-age-in-the-effect-of-fertility-on-living-standards-simulations-for-scandinavia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13514.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">350</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">146</span> Effects of Novel Protease Enzyme From Bacillus subtilis on Low Protein and Low Energy Guar Meal (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) Meal Based Diets on Performance and Nutrients Digestibility in Broilers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aqeel%20Ahmed%20Shad">Aqeel Ahmed Shad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tanveer%20Ahmad"> Tanveer Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Farooq%20Iqbal"> Muhammad Farooq Iqbal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Javaid%20Asad"> Muhammad Javaid Asad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The supplemental effects of novel protease produced from Bacillus subtilis K-5 and beta-mannanase were evaluated on growth performance, carcass characteristics, nutrients digestibility, blood profile and intestinal morphometry of broilers fed guar meal (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) based diets with reduced Crude Protein (CP), Essential Amino Acids (EAAs), and Metabolizable energy (ME) contents. One-day old Ross 308 broiler chicks (n=360) were randomly allotted to thirty six experimental units in a way that each of the nine dietary treatments received four replicates with ten birds per replicate. A control diet without guar meal (0GM) was formulated with standard nutrient specifications of Ross 308 for the starter and finisher phases. Two negative control diets, one with 5% (5GM) and second with 10% (10GM) guar meal, were formulated with reduction of 5% CP, 5% EAAs and 80 Kcal/kg ME. These three basal diets (no enzyme) were supplemented with novel protease enzyme (PROT) and commercial beta-mannanase (Beta-M) enzyme. The birds were reared up to 35d of age. The data on weekly body weight gain (BWG) and feed intake were recorded to compute feed:gain for the starter (0-21d) and finisher (22-35d) phases. At the end of 35d of experimental period, four birds per experimental unit were randomly selected for blood samples collection and later slaughtered for ileal digesta, intestinal tract and carcass trait sampling. The data on overall performance (1-35d) indicated improved (P<0.05) BWG and feed:gain in birds supplemented with PROT (1.41% and 1.67) and Beta-M (2.79% and 1.64) than non-supplemented groups. Improved (P<0.05) carcass yield, breast meat yield and thigh meat yield were noted with the supplementation of Beta-M. However, non-significant (P>0.05) effect on carcass traits was noted in broiler fed guar meal based PROT supplemented diets. Crude protein digestibility, nitrogen retention (Nret) and apparent digestibility coefficient for nitrogen (ADCN) were improved (P<0.05) only with PROT. The improvement in apparent metabolizable energy (AME) and apparent metabolizable energy corrected for nitrogen (AMEn) was noted (P<0.05) with both supplemented enzymes. However, no effect (P>0.05) of enzyme addition was noted on blood glucose, total protein and cholesterol. Improved villus height of duodenum, jejunum and ileum was noted (P<0.05) with the addition of both enzymes. The EAAs digestibility was improved (P<0.05) only with PROT. In conclusion, beta-mannanase and protease supplementation better improved the overall bird performance in low nutrient profile guar meal based diets than non-supplemented diets. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=novel%20protease" title="novel protease">novel protease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=guar%20meal" title=" guar meal"> guar meal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=broilers" title=" broilers"> broilers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20protein%20diets" title=" low protein diets"> low protein diets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20metabolizable%20energy%20diets" title=" low metabolizable energy diets"> low metabolizable energy diets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nutrients%20digestibility" title=" nutrients digestibility"> nutrients digestibility</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171631/effects-of-novel-protease-enzyme-from-bacillus-subtilis-on-low-protein-and-low-energy-guar-meal-cyamopsis-tetragonoloba-meal-based-diets-on-performance-and-nutrients-digestibility-in-broilers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171631.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">62</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">145</span> Impacts of Racialization: Exploring the Relationships between Racial Discrimination, Racial Identity, and Activism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brianna%20Z.%20Ross">Brianna Z. Racial discrimination has become one of the most common experiences within the Black American population. Likewise, Black individuals have indicated a need to address their racial identities at an earlier age than their non-Black peers. Further, Black individuals have been found at the forefront of multiple social and political movements, including but not limited to the Civil Rights Movement, Black Lives Matter, MeToo, and Say Her Name. Moreover, the present study sought to explore the predictive relationships that exist between racial discrimination, racial identity, and activism in the Black community. The results of standard and hierarchical regression analyses revealed that racial discrimination and racial identity significantly predict each other, but only racial discrimination is a significant predictor for the relationship to activism. Nonetheless, the results from this study will provide a basis for social scientists to better understand the impacts of racialization on the Black American population. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=activism" title="activism">activism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=racialization" title=" racialization"> racialization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=racial%20discrimination" title=" racial discrimination"> racial discrimination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=racial%20identity" title=" racial identity"> racial identity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129426/impacts-of-racialization-exploring-the-relationships-between-racial-discrimination-racial-identity-and-activism" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129426.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">152</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">144</span> Performance and Pellet Quality in Broiler Fed with Different Levels of Fat and Pellet Binders</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Vakili">Reza Vakili</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To assess the effect of different levels of soybean oil (SO: 1, 2%) and different types of pellet binders (sodium bentonite (SB), calcium lignosulfonate (Ca-Ls), and plant compounds (PC) on the pellet quality, and broilers’ performance, 480 one-day-old male broiler chickens (Ross 308) were used. When considering individual interactions, there is a need to determine what characteristics increase or predict dehumanization. The present study investigated dehumanization tendencies related to social dominance orientation (SDO) and right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) while factoring in political affiliation. Two-hundred and seven individuals participated in an anonymous study to reveal that there was a significant relationship between high SDO and high RWA scores. There was also a significant correlation between the dehumanization of Black Lives Matter and SDO. These findings suggest that those who are “double high” (scoring highly on both SDO and RWA are more likely to dehumanize others, particularly social groups they disagree with. Acknowledging that there are significant changes occurring in the sociopolitical atmosphere, it is essential that researchers understand dehumanization tendencies in modern society to better define the concept of othering and its consequences on social interaction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dehumanization" title="dehumanization">dehumanization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20dominance%20orientation" title=" social dominance orientation"> social dominance orientation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=right-wing%20authoritarianism" title=" right-wing authoritarianism"> right-wing authoritarianism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=political%20affiliation" title=" political affiliation"> political affiliation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129328/half-human-examining-right-wing-authoritarianism-and-social-dominance-orientation-effects-on-dehumanization-tendencies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129328.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">142</span> Creating and Using Videos in a Teacher Education Programme: Success Stories in a Mexican Public University</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carla%20Michelle%20Gastelum%20Knight">Carla Michelle Gastelum Knight</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In an era where teacher educators and student teachers have almost unrestricted access to all kinds of sources through the internet, a research project carried out with a group of student-teachers has revealed how self-made videos are an exciting new way to motivate and engage students. In the process, they worked collaboratively, they exploited their creativity, they were highly motivated and showed more interest in the subject. The videos were shared in a private YouTube channel where students had the opportunity to review their peers’ work and where videos are available at any time for later viewing. Keeping in view the prolific literature on leadership and innovation, we carry out a quantitative study with data collected over a five-year period involving 31 leaders and 209 observers (direct reports, peers, and managers) from across five companies based in the United States. Rather than accepting, as some scholars and practitioners do, that leadership is all-encompassing, we argue that it is specific to a given context, e.g., innovation. We find that leadership is the locus of innovation and that leaders able to effectively lead the innovation agenda demonstrate five specific behaviors and characteristics, namely stewardship, communication, empowerment, creativity, and vision. We demonstrate that the alignment (or misalignment) between a leader’s “self view” and “other view” is a tell-tale sign of whether (or not) the leader’s organization will succeed at innovation. We propose a scale, iLeadership, and test it psychometrically for assessment of leaders and organizational units charged with innovation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation" title="innovation">innovation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=leadership" title=" leadership"> leadership</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation%20leadership" title=" innovation leadership"> innovation leadership</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knowledge%20creation" title=" knowledge creation"> knowledge creation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10840/mastering-the-paradox-five-unexpected-qualities-of-innovation-leaders" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10840.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">475</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">139</span> Interactions within the School Setting and Their Potential Impact on the Wellbeing or Educational Success of High Ability Students: A Literature Review</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Susan%20Burkett-McKee">Susan Burkett-McKee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bruce%20Knight"> Bruce Knight</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michelle%20Vanderburg"> Michelle Vanderburg</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The wellbeing and educational success of high ability students are interrelated concepts with each potentially hindering or enhancing the other. While the literature consistently states that interactions exchanged between high ability students and school community members impact the students’ wellbeing or educational success, no consensus has been reached about whether the impact is positive or negative. Findings from the review shared in this presentation inform an interpretative phenomenological study involving senior secondary students enrolled in inclusive Australian schools to highlight, from the students’ perspective, the ways school-based interactions impact their wellbeing or educational success. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=educational%20success" title="educational success">educational success</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interactions" title=" interactions"> interactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=literature%20review" title=" literature review"> literature review</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wellbeing" title=" wellbeing"> wellbeing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84482/interactions-within-the-school-setting-and-their-potential-impact-on-the-wellbeing-or-educational-success-of-high-ability-students-a-literature-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84482.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">302</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">138</span> Sound Exposure Effects towards Ross Broilers Growth Rate</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rashidah%20Ghazali">Rashidah Ghazali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Herlina%20Abdul%20Rahim"> Herlina Abdul Rahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mashitah%20Shikh%20Maidin"> Mashitah Shikh Maidin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shafishuhaza%20Sahlan"> Shafishuhaza Sahlan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noramli%20Abdul%20Razak"> Noramli Abdul Razak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sound exposure effects have been investigated by broadcasting a group of broilers with sound of Quran verses (Group B) whereas the other group is the control broilers (Group C). The growth rate comparisons in terms of weight and raw meat texture measured by shear force have been investigated. Twenty-seven broilers were randomly selected from each group on Day 24 and weight measurement was carried out every week till the harvest day (Day 39). Group B showed a higher mean weight on Day 24 (1.441±0.013 kg) than Group C. Significant difference in the weight on Day 39 existed for Group B compared to Group C (p< 0.05). However, there was no significant (p> 0.05) difference of shear force in the same muscles (breast and drumstick raw meat) of both groups but the shear force of the breast meat for Group B and C broilers was lower (p < 0.05) than that of their drumstick meat. Thus, broadcasting the sound of Quran verses in the coop can be applied to improve the growth rate of broilers for producing better quality poultry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
