Let<MH7971> My people<MH5971a> go<MH7971>, so that they may serve<MH5647> Me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>For if<MH518> you refuse<MH3986> to let<MH7971> My people<MH5971a> go<MH7971>, behold<MH2009>, tomorrow<MH4279> I will bring<MH935> locusts<MH697> into your territory<MH1366>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And they will cover<MH3680> the surface<MH5869> of the land<MH776>, so that no<MH3808> one will be<MH3201> able<MH3201> to see<MH7200> the land<MH776>. They will also eat<MH398> the rest<MH3499a> of what<MH6413> has survived<MH6413>—what is left<MH7604> to you from the hail<MH1259>—and they will eat<MH398> every<MH3605> tree<MH6086> of yours which grows<MH6779> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>in the field<MH7704>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then your houses<MH1004> will be filled<MH4390> <i>with them,</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>together with the houses<MH1004> of all<MH3605> your servants<MH5650> and the houses<MH1004> of all<MH3605> the Egyptians<MH4714>, <i>something</i> which<MH834> neither<MH3808> your fathers<MH1> nor<MH3808> your grandfathers<MH1> have seen<MH7200>, from the day<MH3117> that they <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>came<MH1961> upon the earth<MH127> until<MH5704> this<MH2088> day<MH3117>.’” And he turned<MH6437> and left<MH3318, 4480> Pharaoh<MH6547>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Then Pharaoh’s<MH6547> servants<MH5650> said<MH559> to him, “How<MH4970> long<MH5704, 4970> shall this<MH2088> man be a snare<MH4170> to us? Let<MH7971> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>people<MH376> go<MH7971>, so that they may serve<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068> their God<MH430>. Do you not yet<MH2962> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>realize<MH3045> that Egypt<MH4714> is destroyed<MH6>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> and Aaron<MH175> were brought<MH7725> back<MH7725> to Pharaoh<MH6547>, and he said<MH559> to them, “Go<MH1980>, serve<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>! <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Who<MH4310> specifically<MH4310> are the ones who are going<MH1980>?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Moses<MH4872> said<MH559>, “We shall go<MH1980> with our young<MH5288> and our old<MH2205>; with our sons<MH1121> and our daughters<MH1323>, with our flocks<MH6629> and our herds<MH1241> we shall go<MH1980>, for we <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>must hold a feast<MH2282> to the LORD<MH3068>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Then he said<MH559> to them, “So<MH3651> may the LORD<MH3068> be with you, when<MH3512c> I let<MH7971> you and your little<MH2945> ones<MH2945> go<MH7971>! Watch<MH7200> out<MH7200>, for evil<MH7463a> is <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>on your mind<MH6440>! <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Not so<MH3651>! Go<MH1980> now<MH4994>, <i>but only</i> the men<MH1397> <i>among you,</i> and serve<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068>, since<MH3588> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>that is what you desire<MH1245>.” So they were driven<MH1644> out<MH1644> from Pharaoh’s<MH6547> presence<MH6440>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Moses<MH4872>, “Reach<MH5186> out<MH5186> with your hand<MH3027> over<MH5921> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> for the locusts<MH697>, so that they may come<MH5927> up<MH5927> on the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> and eat<MH398> every<MH3605> plant<MH6212a> of the land<MH776>, everything<MH3605> that the hail<MH1259> has left<MH7604>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> reached<MH5186> out<MH5186> with his staff<MH4294> over<MH5921> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, and the LORD<MH3068> directed<MH5090a> an east<MH6921> wind<MH7307> on the land<MH776> all<MH3605> that day<MH3117> and all<MH3605> that night<MH3915>; and when it was morning<MH1242>, the east<MH6921> wind<MH7307> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>brought<MH5375> the locusts<MH697>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>The locusts<MH697> came<MH5927> up<MH5927> over<MH5921> all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> and settled<MH5117> in all<MH3605> the territory<MH1366> of Egypt<MH4714>; <i>they were</i> very<MH3966> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>numerous<MH3515>. There had never<MH3808> been<MH1961> so<MH3651> <i>many</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>locusts<MH697>, nor<MH3808> would there be so<MH3651> <i>many</i> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>again<MH310>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For they covered<MH3680> the surface<MH5869> of the whole<MH3605> land<MH776>, so that the land<MH776> was darkened<MH2821>; and they ate<MH398> every<MH3605> plant<MH6212a> of the land<MH776> and all<MH3605> the fruit<MH6529> of the trees<MH6086> that the hail<MH1259> had left<MH3498>. Therefore nothing<MH3808, 3605> green<MH3418> was left<MH3498> on tree<MH6086> or plant<MH6212a> of the field<MH7704> throughout<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then Pharaoh<MH6547> hurriedly<MH4116> called<MH7121> for Moses<MH4872> and Aaron<MH175>, and he said<MH559>, “I have sinned<MH2398> against the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430> and against you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>So now<MH6258>, please<MH4994> forgive<MH5375> my sin<MH2403b> only<MH389> this<MH6471> once<MH6471>, and plead<MH6279> with the LORD<MH3068> your God<MH430>, that He would only<MH7534b> remove<MH5493> this<MH2088> death<MH4194> from me.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Then he left<MH3318, 4480> Pharaoh<MH6547> and pleaded<MH6279> with the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>So the LORD<MH3068> shifted<MH2015> <i>the wind</i> to a very<MH3966> strong<MH2389> west<MH3220> wind<MH7307>, which picked<MH5375> up<MH5375> the locusts<MH697> and drove<MH8628> them into the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>Red<MH5488> Sea<MH3220>; not one<MH259> locust<MH697> was left<MH7604> in all<MH3605> the territory<MH1366> of Egypt<MH4714>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>But the LORD<MH3068> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>hardened<MH2388> Pharaoh’s<MH6547> heart<MH3820>, and he did not let<MH7971> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> go<MH7971>. <p class="hdg">Darkness over the Land</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Moses<MH4872>, “Reach<MH5186> out<MH5186> with your hand<MH3027> toward<MH5921> the sky<MH8064>, so that there may be darkness<MH2822> over<MH5921> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714>, even a darkness<MH2822> which may be felt<MH4959>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>So Moses<MH4872> reached<MH5186> out<MH5186> with his hand<MH3027> toward<MH5921> the sky<MH8064>, and there was thick<MH653> darkness<MH2822> in all<MH3605> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> for three<MH7969> days<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>They did not see<MH7200> one<MH376> another<MH251>, nor<MH3808> did anyone<MH376> rise<MH6965> from his place<MH8478> for three<MH7969> days<MH3117>, but all<MH3605> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> had<MH1961> light<MH216> in their dwellings<MH4186>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Then Pharaoh<MH6547> called<MH7121> for Moses<MH4872>, and said<MH559>, “Go<MH1980>, serve<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068>; only<MH7534b> let your flocks<MH6629> and your herds<MH1241> be left<MH3322> behind<MH3322>. Even<MH1571> your little<MH2945> ones<MH2945> may go<MH1980> with you.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>But Moses<MH4872> said<MH559>, “You must also<MH1571> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>let<MH5414> us have<MH5414, 3027> sacrifices<MH2077> and burnt<MH5930a> offerings<MH5930a>, so that we may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>sacrifice<MH6213a> <i>them</i> to the LORD<MH3068> our God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/exodus/10-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Therefore, our livestock<MH4735> too<MH1571> shall go<MH1980> with us; not a hoof<MH6541> shall be left<MH7604> behind<MH7604>, for we shall take<MH3947> some<MH4480> of them to serve<MH5647> the LORD<MH3068> our God<MH430>.
