and God<MH430> caused a wind<MH7307> to pass<MH5674a> over<MH5921> the earth<MH776>, and the water<MH4325> subsided<MH7918>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>Also the fountains<MH4599> of the deep<MH8415> and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>floodgates<MH699> of the sky<MH8064> were<MH5534a> closed<MH5534a>, and the rain<MH1653> from the sky<MH8064> was restrained<MH3607>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>and the water<MH4325> receded<MH7725> steadily<MH1980> from the earth<MH776>, and at the end<MH7097a> of 150<MH3967, 2572> days<MH3117> the water<MH4325> decreased<MH2637>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Then in the seventh<MH7637> month<MH2320>, on the seventeenth<MH7651, 6240> day<MH3117> of the month<MH2320>, the ark<MH8392> rested<MH5117> upon the mountains<MH2022> of Ararat<MH780>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And the water<MH4325> decreased<MH2637> steadily<MH1980> until<MH5704> the tenth<MH6224> month<MH2320>; in the tenth<MH6224> month, on the first<MH259> day of the month<MH2320>, the tops<MH7218> of the mountains<MH2022> became<MH7200> visible<MH7200>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Then it came<MH1961> about<MH1961> at the end<MH7093> of forty<MH705> days<MH3117>, that Noah<MH5146> opened<MH6605a> the window<MH2474> of the ark<MH8392> which<MH834> he had made<MH6213a>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>and he sent<MH7971> out<MH7971> a raven<MH6158>, and it <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>flew<MH3318> here<MH3318> and there<MH7725> until<MH5704> the water<MH4325> was dried<MH3001> up<MH3001> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>from the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Then he sent<MH7971> out<MH7971> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>dove<MH3123>, to see<MH7200> if the water<MH4325> was<MH7043> low<MH7043> on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>surface<MH6440> of the land<MH127>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>but the dove<MH3123> found<MH4672> no<MH3808> resting<MH4494> place<MH4494> for the sole<MH3709> of its foot<MH7272>, so it returned<MH7725> to him in the ark<MH8392>, for the water<MH4325> was on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>surface<MH6440> of all<MH3605> the earth<MH776>. Then he put<MH7971> out<MH7971> his hand<MH3027> and took<MH3947> it, and brought<MH935> it into the ark<MH8392> to himself. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>So he waited<MH3176> another<MH312> seven<MH7651> days<MH3117> longer<MH5750>; and again<MH3254> he sent<MH7971> out<MH7971> the dove<MH3123> from the ark<MH8392>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And the dove<MH3123> came<MH935> to him in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>the evening<MH6153>, and behold<MH2009>, in its <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>beak<MH6310> was a fresh<MH2965> olive<MH2132> leaf<MH5929>. So Noah<MH5146> knew<MH3045> that the water<MH4325> was<MH7043> low<MH7043> on the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then he waited<MH3176> another<MH312> seven<MH7651> days<MH3117> longer<MH5750>, and sent<MH7971> out<MH7971> the dove<MH3123>; but it did not return<MH7725> to him again<MH3254>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Now it came<MH1961> about<MH1961> in the six<MH8337a> hundred<MH3967> and first<MH259> year<MH8141>, in the first<MH7223> <i>month,</i> on the first<MH259> of the month<MH2320>, <i>that</i> the water<MH4325> was dried<MH2717a> up<MH2717a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>from the earth<MH776>. Then Noah<MH5146> removed<MH5493> the covering<MH4372> of the ark<MH8392>, and looked<MH7200>, and behold<MH2009>, the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>surface<MH6440> of the ground<MH127> had dried<MH2717a> up<MH2717a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And in the second<MH8145> month<MH2320>, on the twenty-seventh<MH6242, 7651> day<MH3117> of the month<MH2320>, the earth<MH776> was<MH3001> dry<MH3001>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Then God<MH430> spoke<MH1696> to Noah<MH5146>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>“Go<MH3318> out<MH3318> of the ark<MH8392>, you and your wife<MH802> and your sons<MH1121> and your sons’<MH1121> wives<MH802> with you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Bring<MH3318> out<MH3318> with you every<MH3605> living<MH2421b> thing<MH2421b> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320> that is with you, birds<MH5775> and animals<MH929> and every<MH3605> crawling<MH7431> thing<MH7431> that crawls<MH7430> on the earth<MH776>, that they may <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>breed<MH8317> abundantly<MH8317> on the earth<MH776>, and be<MH6509> fruitful<MH6509> and multiply<MH7235a> on the earth<MH776>.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>So Noah<MH5146> went<MH3318> out<MH3318>, and his sons<MH1121> and his wife<MH802>, and his sons’<MH1121> wives<MH802> with him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Every<MH3605> animal<MH2421b>, every<MH3605> crawling<MH7431> thing<MH7431>, and every<MH3605> bird<MH5775>, everything<MH3605> that moves<MH7430> on the earth<MH776>, went<MH3318> out<MH3318> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>by their families<MH4940> from the ark<MH8392>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Then Noah<MH5146> built<MH1129> an altar<MH4196> to the LORD<MH3068>, and took<MH3947> some<MH4480> of every<MH3605> <i>kind of</i> clean<MH2889> animal<MH929> and some<MH4480> of every<MH3605> clean<MH2889> bird<MH5775> and offered<MH5927> burnt<MH5930a> offerings<MH5930a> on the altar<MH4196>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/8-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>The LORD<MH3068> smelled<MH7381a> the soothing<MH5207> aroma<MH7381b>, and the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>to Himself<MH3820>, “I will never<MH3808, 5750> again<MH3254> curse<MH7043> the ground<MH127> on account<MH5668> of man<MH120>, for the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>intent<MH3336> of man’s<MH120> heart<MH3820> is evil<MH7451a> from his youth<MH5271>;
