Zerah's birth is recorded in <a href="/genesis/38-29.htm">Genesis 38:29-30</a>, where he is the twin brother of Perez. The Zerahites are part of the tribe of Judah, which holds significant importance in biblical history as the tribe from which King David and ultimately Jesus Christ descended (<a href="/matthew/1-3.htm">Matthew 1:3-16</a>).
