Char is Associate Dean of the University Library at California State University San Marcos, an institution with a strong commitment to social justice and traditionally underrepresented learners. Char was previously the Director of Research, Teaching, and Learning Services at the Claremont Colleges Library and has held positions at the University of California at Berkeley and Ohio University. A faculty member of the ACRL Information Literacy Immersion Institute, Char's publications include the Ilene F.
