The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.<Fr> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>The hireling, and the one not being the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees away, and the wolf seizes and scatters them:<Fr> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>because he is a hireling and there is not a care to him for the sheep.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>I am the Good Shepherd; I know mine, and mine know me,<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father; and I lay down My soul for the sheep.<Fr> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: and it behooves me to bring them and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><FR>Therefore my Father loves Me, because I lay down my soul, that I may take it again.<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and power to receive it again. I received this commandment from my Father.<Fr><p> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Again there was a schism among the Jews on account of these words. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Then many of them were saying, He has a demon, and is gone mad; why do you hear Him? Others were saying, <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>These are not the words of a demonized man. Whether is a demon able to open the eyes of the blind?<p> <A name="23"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus at the Feast of Dedication<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And it was the feast of dedication in Jerusalem: and it was winter; <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomon's porch. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Then the Jews surrounded Him, and said to Him, How long do you take away our soul? <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>If thou art the Christ, tell us openly.
