The study of consumer memory is considered an important subject in marketing research, and many companies have conducted studies on this subject and the factors affecting it due to its importance. Therefore, the current study tries to investigate the relationship between consumers' attention, literacy, and memory. Memory has a very close relationship with learning. Memory is the collection of all the information that we have understood and stored. One of the important subjects in consumer behavior is information processing by the consumer. One of the important factors in information processing is the mental involvement of the consumer, which has attracted a lot of attention in the past two decades. Since consumers are the turning point of all marketing activities, successful marketing begins with understanding why and how consumers behave. Therefore, in the current study, the role of executive attention and literacy on consumers' memory has been investigated. The results showed that executive attention and literacy would play a significant role in the long-term and short-term memory of consumers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=literacy" title="literacy">literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=consumer%20memory" title=" consumer memory"> consumer memory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=executive%20attention" title=" executive attention"> executive attention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychology%20of%20consumer%20behavior" title=" psychology of consumer behavior"> psychology of consumer behavior</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167451/the-role-of-executive-attention-and-literacy-on-consumer-memory" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167451.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">95</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> Effect of Base Coarse Layer on Load-Settlement Characteristics of Sandy Subgrade Using Plate Load Test</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Nazeri">A. The main parameter investigated in this study was the subgrade reaction coefficient. The model tests were conducted in a 1.35 m long, 1 m wide, and 1 m deep steel test box of Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU Calibration Chamber). The base courses used in this research were in three different thicknesses of 15 cm, 20 cm, and 30 cm. The test results indicated that in the case of using base course over loose sandy subgrade, the values of subgrade reaction coefficient can be increased from 7 to 132 , 224 , and 396 in presence of 15 cm, 20 cm, and 30 cm base course, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulus%20of%20subgrade%20reaction" title="modulus of subgrade reaction">modulus of subgrade reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plate%20load%20test" title=" plate load test"> plate load test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=base%20course" title=" base course"> base course</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sandy%20subgrade" title=" sandy subgrade"> sandy subgrade</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80835/effect-of-base-coarse-layer-on-load-settlement-characteristics-of-sandy-subgrade-using-plate-load-test" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80835.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">247</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">36</span> Gall Bladder Polyp Identified as Solitary RCC Metastasis 4 Years after Nephrectomy: An Unusual Case Report</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerard%20Bray">Gerard Bray</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arya%20Bahadori"> Arya Bahadori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sachinka%20Ranasinghe"> Sachinka Ranasinghe</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is among the top 10 most common cancers worldwide, where metastatic disease carries a poor prognosis. Herein, we present a 74-year-old male presenting with asymptomatic solitary metachronous metastasis to the gall bladder 4 years following nephrectomy for clear cell RCC. Solitary RCC metastasis to the gall bladder following nephrectomy is rarely reported in the literature and brings with it a clinical conundrum of whether surgical resection or systemic therapy should be utilized. In this case, surgical excision with cholecystectomy was employed without systemic therapy. We, therefore, contribute a rare and interesting case that highlights that metastasectomy of a solitary metastasis can improve survival according to current literature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renal%20cell%20carcinoma" title="renal cell carcinoma">renal cell carcinoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gall%20bladder%20metastasis" title=" gall bladder metastasis"> gall bladder metastasis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solitary%20metastasectomy" title=" solitary metastasectomy"> solitary metastasectomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metachronous" title=" metachronous"> metachronous</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145137/gall-bladder-polyp-identified-as-solitary-rcc-metastasis-4-years-after-nephrectomy-an-unusual-case-report" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145137.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">172</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">35</span> Fermentation of Tolypocladium inflatum to Produce Cyclosporin in Dairy Waste Culture Medium</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Falah">Fereshteh Falah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Vasiee"> Alireza Vasiee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farideh%20Tabatabaei-Yazdi"> Farideh Tabatabaei-Yazdi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this research, we investigated the usage of dairy sludge in the fermentation process and cyclosporin production. This bioactive compound is a metabolite produced by Tolypocladium inflatum. Results showed that about 200 ppm of cyclosporin can be produced in this fermentation. In order to have a proper and specific function, CyA must be free of any impurities, so we need purification. In this downstream processing, we used chromatographic extraction and evaluation of pharmacological activities of cyA. Results showed that the obtained metabolite has very high activity against Aspergilus niger (25mm clear zone). This cyclosporin was isolated for use as an antibiotic. The current research shows that this drug is very vital and commercially very important. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fermentation" title="fermentation">fermentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclosporin%20A" title=" cyclosporin A"> cyclosporin A</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tolypocladium%20inflatum" title=" Tolypocladium inflatum"> Tolypocladium inflatum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TLC" title=" TLC"> TLC</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150769/fermentation-of-tolypocladium-inflatum-to-produce-cyclosporin-in-dairy-waste-culture-medium" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150769.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">127</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Assessment of Susceptibility of the Poultry Red Mite, Dermanyssus gallinae (Acari: Dermanyssidae) to Some Plant Preparations with Focus on Exposure Time</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahrokh%20Ranjbar-Bahadori">Shahrokh Ranjbar-Bahadori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nima%20Farhadifar"> Nima Farhadifar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leila%20Mohammadyar"> Leila Mohammadyar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Plant preparations from thyme and garlic have been shown to be effective acaricides against the poultry red mite, Dermanyssus gallinae. In a layer house with a history of D. gallinae problem, mites were detected in the monitoring traps for the first time and number of them was counted. Then, some rows of layer house was sprayed twice using a concentration of 0.21 mg/cm2 thyme essential oil and 0.07 mg/cm2 garlic juice and a similar row was used as an untreated control group. Red mite traps made of cardboard were used to assess the mite density during days 1 and 7 after treatment and always removed after 24 h. the collected mites were counted and the efficacy against all mite stages (larvae, nymphs and adults) was calculated. Results showed that on day 1 and 7 after the administration of garlic extract efficacy rate was 92.05% and 74.62%, respectively. Moreover, efficacy rate on day 1 and 7 was 89.4% and 95.37% when treatment was done with thyme essential oil. It is concluded that using garlic juice to control of D. gallinae is more effective on short time. But thyme essential oil has a long time effect in compare to garlic preparation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dermanyssus%20gallinae" title="Dermanyssus gallinae">Dermanyssus gallinae</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=essential%20oil" title=" essential oil"> essential oil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=garlic" title=" garlic"> garlic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thyme" title=" thyme"> thyme</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=efficacy" title=" efficacy"> efficacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6300/assessment-of-susceptibility-of-the-poultry-red-mite-dermanyssus-gallinae-acari-dermanyssidae-to-some-plant-preparations-with-focus-on-exposure-time" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6300.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">435</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">33</span> An Alternative Nano Design Strategy by Neutralized AMPS and Soy Bean Lecithin to Form Nanoparticles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esra%20Cansever%20Mutlu">Esra Cansever Mutlu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muge%20Sennaroglu%20Bostan"> Muge Sennaroglu Bostan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatemeh%20Bahadori"> Fatemeh Bahadori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ebru%20Toksoy%20Oner"> Ebru Toksoy Oner</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20S.%20Eroglu"> Mehmet S. It is poorly soluble in water; therefore, currently used formulations tremendously show side-effects and high toxicity. Encapsulation of the drug in a nano drug carrier which causes both reducing side effects and increasing drug activity is a desired new approach for the nano-medicine to target the site of cancer. In this study, synthesis of a novel nano paclitaxel formulation made of a new amphiphilic monomer was followed by the investigation of its pharmacological properties. UV radical polymerization was carried out by using the monomer Lecithin-2-Acrylamido-2-methylpropane (L-AMPS) and the drug-spacer, to obtain sterically high stabilized, biocompatible and biodegradable phospholipid nanoparticles, in which the drug paclitaxel (Pxl) was encapsulated (NanoPxl). Particles showed high drug loading capacity (68%) and also hydrodynamic size less than 200 nm with slight negative surface charge. The drug release profile was obtained and in vitro cytotoxicity test was performed on MCF-7 cell line. Consequently, these data indicated that paclitaxel loaded Lecithin-AMPS/PCL-MAC nanoparticles can be considered as a new, safe and effective nanocarrier for the treatment of breast cancer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=paclitaxel" title="paclitaxel">paclitaxel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticle" title=" nanoparticle"> nanoparticle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20delivery" title=" drug delivery"> drug delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=L-AMPS" title=" L-AMPS"> L-AMPS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68815/an-alternative-nano-design-strategy-by-neutralized-amps-and-soy-bean-lecithin-to-form-nanoparticles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68815.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">320</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Design and Optimization of Soil Nailing Construction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Akbari">Fereshteh Akbari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farrokh%20Jalali%20Mosalam"> Farrokh Jalali Mosalam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Hedayatifar"> Ali Hedayatifar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amirreza%20Aminjavaheri"> Amirreza Aminjavaheri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The soil nailing is an effective method to stabilize slopes and retaining structures. This is due to its global demand and destructive impacts on the environment, which has been a significant concern to the governments. Typically, the use of plastic in the construction industry is seen across low-density, non-structural applications due to its diverse range of benefits including high strength-to-weight ratios, manipulability and durability. It can be said that with the level of plastic consumption experienced in the construction industry, an ongoing responsibility is shown for this sector to continually innovate alternatives for application of recycled plastic waste such as using plastic made replacement from polyethylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl and polypropylene in the concrete mix design. In this study, the impact of partially replaced fine aggregate with polypropylene in the concrete mix design was investigated to evaluate the concrete’s compressive strength by conducting an experimental work which comprises of six concrete mix batches with polypropylene replacements ranging from 0.5 to 3.0%. The results demonstrated a typical decline in the compressive strength with the addition of plastic aggregate, despite this reduction generally mitigated as the level of plastic in the concrete mix increased. Furthermore, two of the six plastic-containing concrete mixes tested in the current study exceeded the ST5 standardised prescribed concrete mix compressive strength requirement at 28-days containing 1.50% and 2.50% plastic aggregates, which demonstrated the potential for use of recycled polypropylene in structural applications, as a partial by mass, fine aggregate replacement in the concrete mix. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compressive%20strength" title="compressive strength">compressive strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concrete" title=" concrete"> concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polypropylene" title=" polypropylene"> polypropylene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108936/sustainable-development-of-medium-strength-concrete-using-polypropylene-as-aggregate-replacement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108936.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">140</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Synthesis of Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles in Presence of Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Chekin">Fereshteh Chekin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sepideh%20Sadeghi"> Sepideh Sadeghi </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nickel nanoparticles have attracted much attention because of applications in catalysis, medical diagnostics and magnetic applications. In this work, we reported a simple and low-cost procedure to synthesize nickel oxide nanoparticles (NiO-NPs) by using sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and gelatin as stabilizer. The synthesized NiO-NPs were characterized by a variety of means such as transmission electron microscope (TEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and UV-vis spectroscopy. The results show that the NiO nanoparticles with high crystalline can be obtained using this simple method. The grain size measured by TEM was 16 in presence of SDS, which agrees well with the XRD data. SDS plays an important role in the formation of the NiO nanoparticles. Moreover, the NiO nanoparticles have been used as a solid phase catalyst for the decomposition of hydrazine hydrate at room temperatures. The decomposition process has been monitored by UV–vis analysis. The present study showed that nanoparticles are not poisoned after their repeated use in decomposition of hydrazine. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nickel%20oxide%20nanoparticles" title="nickel oxide nanoparticles">nickel oxide nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sodium%20dodecyl%20sulphate" title=" sodium dodecyl sulphate"> sodium dodecyl sulphate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=synthesis" title=" synthesis"> synthesis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stabilizer" title=" stabilizer"> stabilizer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14906/synthesis-of-nickel-oxide-nanoparticles-in-presence-of-sodium-dodecyl-sulphate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14906.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">484</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">29</span> Investigating the Minimum RVE Size to Simulate Poly (Propylene carbonate) Composites Reinforced with Cellulose Nanocrystals as a Bio-Nanocomposite</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamed%20Nazeri">Hamed Nazeri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pierre%20Mertiny"> Pierre Mertiny</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yongsheng%20Ma"> Yongsheng Ma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kajsa%20Duke"> Kajsa Duke</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The background of the present study is the use of environment-friendly biopolymer and biocomposite materials. Among the recently introduced biopolymers, poly (propylene carbonate) (PPC) has been gaining attention. This study focuses on the size of representative volume elements (RVE) in order to simulate PPC composites reinforced by cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) as a bio-nanocomposite. Before manufacturing nanocomposites, numerical modeling should be implemented to explore and predict mechanical properties, which may be accomplished by creating and studying a suitable RVE. In other studies, modeling of composites with rod shaped fillers has been reported assuming that fillers are unidirectionally aligned. But, modeling of non-aligned filler dispersions is considerably more difficult. This study investigates the minimum RVE size to enable subsequent FEA modeling. The matrix and nano-fillers were modeled using the finite element software ABAQUS, assuming randomly dispersed fillers with a filler mass fraction of 1.5%. To simulate filler dispersion, a Monte Carlo technique was employed. The numerical simulation was implemented to find composite elastic moduli. After commencing the simulation with a single filler particle, the number of particles was increased to assess the minimum number of filler particles that satisfies the requirements for an RVE, providing the composite elastic modulus in a reliable fashion. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biocomposite" title="biocomposite">biocomposite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monte%20Carlo%20method" title=" Monte Carlo method"> Monte Carlo method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocomposite" title=" nanocomposite"> nanocomposite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=representative%20volume%20element" title=" representative volume element"> representative volume element</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27266/investigating-the-minimum-rve-size-to-simulate-poly-propylene-carbonate-composites-reinforced-with-cellulose-nanocrystals-as-a-bio-nanocomposite" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/27266.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">442</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Effect of Nutrition Education on the Control and Function of Insulin-Dependent Diabetes Patients</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rahil%20Sahragard">Rahil Sahragard</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Hatami"> Mahmoud Hatami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rostam%20%20Bahadori%20Khalili"> Rostam Bahadori Khalili</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Diabetes is one of the most important health problems in the world and a chronic disease requiring continuous care and therefore, it is necessary for patients to undergo self-care and nutrition education. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of nutrition education on the metabolic control of diabetic patients in Tehran in 2015. An experimental study was conducted on 100 patients who had previously been approved by a specialist physician for diabetes and at least one year after their onset. At first, patients without any knowledge of the educational program were selected as sample and from them a checklist containing demographic and specific information about diabetes was filled and were taken three fasting blood glucose and three times fasting blood glucose (5 p.m.) Then, the patients received face-to-face training in the same conditions for 2 weeks in a Mehregan hospital of Tehran, and received 3 months of training, while they were fully monitored and during this time, samples that had a cold or blood pressure-related disease or were admitted to the hospital were excluded from the study. After the end of the study, the checklist was filled again and 3 fasting blood glucose and 3 fasting blood glucose samples were taken, the results were statistically analyzed by MC Nemar's statistical test. The research findings were performed on 100 patients 41.7% male and 58.3% women, the range of age was between 22 and 60 years old, with a duration of diabetes ranging from 1 to 15 years. Abnormal fasting blood glucose from 95% to 48.3% (P <0.0001) and non-fasting blood glucose decreased from 91.6% to 71.2% (P <0.001). Research has shown that training on blood glucose control has been successful, therefore, it is recommended that more research is done in the field of education to help patients with diabetes more comfortable. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nutrition%20education" title="nutrition education">nutrition education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diabetes" title=" diabetes"> diabetes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=function" title=" function"> function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insulin" title=" insulin"> insulin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chronic" title=" chronic"> chronic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic%20control" title=" metabolic control"> metabolic control</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93476/effect-of-nutrition-education-on-the-control-and-function-of-insulin-dependent-diabetes-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/93476.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">27</span> Experimental Investigation on Geosynthetic-Reinforced Soil Sections via California Bearing Ratio Test</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Abdi%20Goudazri">S. Being exposed to heavy traffic loads, they would fail in most cases. To tackle the aforementioned issue, geotechnical engineers have come up with different approaches; one of which is making use of geosynthetic-reinforced soil-aggregate systems. As these polymeric reinforcements have highlighted economic and environmentally-friendly features, they have become widespread in practice during the last decades. The present research investigates the efficiency of four different types of these reinforcements in increasing the bearing capacity of two-layered soil sections using a series California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test. The studied sections are comprised of a 10 cm-thick layer of no. 161 Firouzkooh sand (weak subgrade) and a 10 cm-thick layer of compacted aggregate materials (base course) classified as SP and GW according to the United Soil Classification System (USCS), respectively. The aggregate layer was compacted to the relative density (Dr) of 95% at the optimum water content (Wopt) of 6.5%. The applied reinforcements were including two kinds of geocomposites (type A and B), a geotextile, and a geogrid that were embedded at the interface of the lower and the upper layers of the soil-aggregate system. As the standard CBR mold was not appropriate in height for this study, the mold used for soaked CBR tests were utilized. To make a comparison between the results of stress-settlement behavior in the studied specimens, CBR values pertinent to the penetrations of 2.5 mm and 5 mm were considered. The obtained results demonstrated 21% and 24.5% increments in the amount of CBR value in the presence of geocomposite type A and geogrid, respectively. On the other hand, the effect of both geotextile and geocomposite type B on CBR values was generally insignificant in this research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geosynthetics" title="geosynthetics">geosynthetics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geogrid" title=" geogrid"> geogrid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geotextile" title=" geotextile"> geotextile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CBR%20test" title=" CBR test"> CBR test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=increasing%20bearing%20capacity" title=" increasing bearing capacity"> increasing bearing capacity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116386/experimental-investigation-on-geosynthetic-reinforced-soil-sections-via-california-bearing-ratio-test" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116386.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Bi-Layer Electro-Conductive Nanofibrous Conduits for Peripheral Nerve Regeneration</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Niloofar%20Nazeri">Niloofar Nazeri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Ali%20Derakhshan"> Mohammad Ali Derakhshan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Faridi%20Majidi"> Reza Faridi Majidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hossein%20Ghanbari"> Hossein Ghanbari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Injury of peripheral nervous system (PNS) can lead to loss of sensation or movement. To date, one of the challenges for surgeons is repairing large gaps in PNS. To solve this problem, nerve conduits have been developed. Conduits produced by means of electrospinning can mimic extracellular matrix and provide enough surface for further functionalization. In this research, a conductive bilayer nerve conduit with poly caprolactone (PCL), poly (lactic acid co glycolic acid) (PLGA) and MWCNT for promoting peripheral nerve regeneration was fabricated. The conduit was made of longitudinally aligned PLGA nanofibrous sheets in the lumen to promote nerve regeneration and randomly oriented PCL nanofibers on the outer surface for mechanical support. The intra-luminal guidance channel was made out of conductive aligned nanofibrous rolled sheets which are coated with laminin via dopamine. Different properties of electrospun scaffolds were investigated by using contact angle, mechanical strength, degradation time, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The SEM analysis was shown that size range of nanofibrous mat were about 600-750 nm and MWCNTs deposited between nanofibers. The XPS result was shown that laminin attached to the nanofibers surface successfully. The contact-angle and tensile tests analysis revealed that scaffolds have good hydrophilicity and enough mechanical strength. In vitro studies demonstrated that this conductive surface was able to enhance the attachment and proliferation of PC12 and Schwann cells. We concluded that this bilayer composite conduit has good potential for nerve regeneration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conductive" title="conductive">conductive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conduit" title=" conduit"> conduit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laminin" title=" laminin"> laminin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MWCNT" title=" MWCNT"> MWCNT</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76928/bi-layer-electro-conductive-nanofibrous-conduits-for-peripheral-nerve-regeneration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">199</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Robotic Assisted vs Traditional Laparoscopic Partial Nephrectomy Peri-Operative Outcomes: A Comparative Single Surgeon Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerard%20Bray">Gerard Bray</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Derek%20Mao"> Derek Mao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arya%20Bahadori"> Arya Bahadori</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sachinka%20Ranasinghe"> Sachinka Ranasinghe</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The EAU currently recommends partial nephrectomy as the preferred management for localised cT1 renal tumours, irrespective of surgical approach. With the advent of robotic assisted partial nephrectomy, there is growing evidence that warm ischaemia time may be reduced compared to the traditional laparoscopic approach. There is still no clear differences between the two approaches with regards to other peri-operative and oncological outcomes. Current limitations in the field denote the lack of single surgeon series to compare the two approaches as other studies often include multiple operators of different experience levels. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first single surgeon series comparing peri-operative outcomes of robotic assisted and laparoscopic PN. The current study aims to reduce intra-operator bias while maintaining an adequate sample size to assess the differences in outcomes between the two approaches. We retrospectively compared patient demographics, peri-operative outcomes, and renal function derangements of all partial nephrectomies undertaken by a single surgeon with experience in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Warm ischaemia time, length of stay, and acute renal function deterioration were all significantly reduced with robotic partial nephrectomy, compared to laparoscopic nephrectomy. This study highlights the benefits of robotic partial nephrectomy. Further prospective studies with larger sample sizes would be valuable additions to the current literature. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20nephrectomy" title="partial nephrectomy">partial nephrectomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robotic%20assisted%20partial%20nephrectomy" title=" robotic assisted partial nephrectomy"> robotic assisted partial nephrectomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warm%20ischaemia%20time" title=" warm ischaemia time"> warm ischaemia time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=peri-operative%20outcomes" title=" peri-operative outcomes"> peri-operative outcomes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145138/robotic-assisted-vs-traditional-laparoscopic-partial-nephrectomy-peri-operative-outcomes-a-comparative-single-surgeon-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145138.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Coping Orientation of Academic Community in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic: A Pilot Survey Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Ahmadi">Fereshteh Ahmadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%96nver%20Cetrez"> Önver Cetrez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Said%20Zandi"> Said Zandi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharareh%20Akhavan"> Sharareh Akhavan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we have mapped the coping methods used to address the coronavirus pandemic by members of the academic community. We conducted an anonymous survey of a convenient sample of 674 faculty/staff members and students from September to December 2020. A modified version of the RCOPE scale was used for data collection. The results indicate that both religious and existential coping methods were used by respondents. The study also indicates that even though 71% of in-formants believed in God or another religious figure, 61% reported that they had tried to gain control of the situation directly without the help of God or another religious figure. The ranking of the coping strategies used indicates that the first five methods used by informants were all non-religious coping methods (i.e., secular existential coping methods): regarding life as a part of a greater whole, regarding nature as an important resource, listening to the sound of surrounding nature, being alone and con-templating, and walking/engaging in any activities outdoors giving a spiritual feeling. Our results contribute to the new area of research on academic community’s coping with pandemic-related stress and challenges. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20staff" title="academic staff">academic staff</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academics" title=" academics"> academics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coping%20strategies" title=" coping strategies"> coping strategies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coronavirus%20epidemic" title=" coronavirus epidemic"> coronavirus epidemic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=higher%20education." title=" higher education."> higher education.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165033/coping-orientation-of-academic-community-in-the-time-of-covid-19-pandemic-a-pilot-survey-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/165033.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">83</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Biosorption of Heavy Metals by Low Cost Adsorbents</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azam%20Tabatabaee">Azam Tabatabaee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Dastgoshadeh"> Fereshteh Dastgoshadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akram%20Tabatabaee"> Akram Tabatabaee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper describes the use of by-products as adsorbents for removing heavy metals from aqueous effluent solutions. Products of almond skin, walnut shell, saw dust, rice bran and egg shell were evaluated as metal ion adsorbents in aqueous solutions. A comparative study was done with commercial adsorbents like ion exchange resins and activated carbon too. Batch experiments were investigated to determine the affinity of all of biomasses for, Cd(ΙΙ), Cr(ΙΙΙ), Ni(ΙΙ), and Pb(ΙΙ) metal ions at pH 5. The rate of metal ion removal in the synthetic wastewater by the biomass was evaluated by measuring final concentration of synthetic wastewater. At a concentration of metal ion (50 mg/L), egg shell adsorbed high levels (98.6 – 99.7%) of Pb(ΙΙ) and Cr(ΙΙΙ) and walnut shell adsorbed high levels (35.3 – 65.4%) of Ni(ΙΙ) and Cd(ΙΙ). In this study, it has been shown that by-products were excellent adsorbents for removal of toxic ions from wastewater with efficiency comparable to commercially available adsorbents, but at a reduced cost. The aim of the present research is to evaluate the effect of tax management components on risk-taking of firms listed in Tehran stock exchange by using regression analysis method. Results show that tax effective rate, tax risk and tax planning have no significant effect on the firm's future risk. Results suggest that stakeholders assess the effective tax rate and delay in tax payment in line with their benefits. They tend to accept the higher risk cost for reduction of tax payments and benefits of higher liquidity in current period. Hence, effective tax rate and tax risk have no significant effect on future risk of the firm. Moreover, tax planning yields no information regarding the predictability of the future profits and as a result, it has no significant effect on the future risk of the firm since specific goals of financial reporting are in priority for the stakeholders and regardless of the firm’s data analysis, they take investment decisions and they less intend to purchase the stocks in a rational manner. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tax%20management" title="tax management">tax management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tax%20effective%20rate" title=" tax effective rate"> tax effective rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tax%20risk" title=" tax risk"> tax risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tax%20planning" title=" tax planning"> tax planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=firm%20risk" title=" firm risk"> firm risk</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128871/the-role-of-tax-management-components-in-creating-value-or-increasing-risk-of-tehran-stock-exchange-firms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128871.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">21</span> Evaluation of Biofertilizer and Manure Effects on Quantitative Yield of Nigella Sativa L.</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Reza%20Haj%20Seyed%20Hadi">Mohammad Reza Haj Seyed Hadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Ghanepasand"> Fereshteh Ghanepasand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Taghi%20Darzi"> Mohammad Taghi Darzi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main objective of this study was to determine the effects of Nitrogen fixing bacteria and manure application on the seed yield and yield components in black cumin (Nigella sativa L.). The experiment was carried out at the RAN Research Station in Firouzkouh in 2012. A 4×4 factorial experiment, arranged in a randomized complete blocks designed with three replications. The treatments consisted of 4 level of nitrogen fixing bacteria (control, Azotobacter, Azospirillum and Azotobacter + Azospirillum) and 4 level of manure (0, 2.5, 5 and 7.5 ton ha-1). The present results have shown that the highest height, 1000 seeds weight, seed number per follicle, follicle yield, seed yield and harvest index were obtained after using Azotobacter and Azospirillum, simultaneously. Manure application only affects on follicle yield and by 5ton manure ha-1 the highest follicle yield obtained. Results of this investigation showed that the maximum seed yield obtained when Aotobacter+Azospirillum inoculated with black cumin seeds and 5 ton manure ha-1 applied. Combined application of nitrogen fixing bacteria and manure can be helpful in developing of production and yield in Black cumin. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=azotobacter" title="azotobacter">azotobacter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=azospirillum" title=" azospirillum"> azospirillum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=black%20cumin" title=" black cumin"> black cumin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield" title=" yield"> yield</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield%20components" title=" yield components"> yield components</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28053/evaluation-of-biofertilizer-and-manure-effects-on-quantitative-yield-of-nigella-sativa-l" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28053.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">466</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> Comparing of Compete Motivation between Young and Adult Elite Volleyball Players</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Hamidi">Hassan Hamidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Zarei"> Fereshteh Zarei</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, we compared amount of compete motivation between young and adult volleyball players. It is influenced by the environmental stimulators and inhibitors. Diazinon is a widely-used pesticide in Golestan province (Southern Caspian Sea, North of Iran) which is washed to the aquatic environment (3 mg/L in the river). It is little known about the effect of this pesticide on the embryogenesis of sturgeon fish, the valuable species of the Caspian Sea. Hormonal content of the egg is an important factor to guaranty the successful passes of embryonic stages. In this study, the fate of Persian sturgeon embryo to 24, 48, 72, and 96-hours exposure of diazinon (LC50 dose) was tested. Also, the effect of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) on these embryos was tested concurrently or separately with diazinon LC 50 dose. Fertilized eggs are exposed to T3 (low dose: 1 ng/ml, high dose: 10 ng/ml), T4 (low dose: 1 ng/ml, high dose: 10 ng/ml). Six eggs were randomly selected from each treatment (with three replicates) in five developmental stages (two cell- division, neural, heart present, heart beaten, and hatched larvae). The possibility of changing T3, T4, and cortisol contents of the embryos were determined in all treated groups and in every mentioned embryonic stage. The hatching rate in treated groups was assayed at the end of the embryogenesis to clarify the effect of thyroid hormones and diazinon. The results indicated significant differences in thyroid hormone contents, but no significant differences were recognized in cortisol levels at various early life stages of embryos. There was also significant difference in thyroid hormones in (T3, T4) + diazinon treated embryos (<em>P</em>˂0.05), while no significant difference between control and treatments in cortisol levels was observed. The highest hatching rate was recorded in HT3 treatment, while the lowest hatching rate was recorded for diazinon LC50 treatment. The result confirmed that Persian sturgeon embryo is less sensitive to diazinon compared to teleost embryos, and thyroid hormones may increase hatching rate even in the presence of diazinon. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Persian%20sturgeon" title="Persian sturgeon">Persian sturgeon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diazinon" title=" diazinon"> diazinon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thyroid%20hormones" title=" thyroid hormones"> thyroid hormones</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cortisol" title=" cortisol"> cortisol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=embryo" title=" embryo"> embryo</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57048/the-effect-of-acute-toxicity-and-thyroid-hormone-treatments-on-hormonal-changes-during-embryogenesis-of-acipenser-persicus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57048.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">303</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18</span> Explanation of Sustainable Architecture Models in Tabriz Residential Fabric Monuments: Case Study of Sharbatoglu House and Ghadaki House</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Pashaei%20Kamali">Fereshteh Pashaei Kamali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elham%20Kazemi"> Elham Kazemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shokooh%20Neshani%20Fam"> Shokooh Neshani Fam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The subject of sustainable development is a reformist revision of modernism and tradition, proposing reconciliatory strategies between these two. Sustainability in architecture cannot only be interpreted as the construction’s physical stability, but also as stability, the preserving of the continuous totality of earth and its energy resources as well, whose available resources and materials should be employed more efficiently. In other words, by referring to the building ecology, emphasizing the combinatory capacity of the building with the environmental factors (existence context), the aim of sustainability is to achieve spatial quality and comfort, as well as proper design in the architectural composition. To achieve these traditional Iranian architecture objectives, it is essential to plan on protecting the environment, maintaining aesthetic measures and responding to the needs of each climatic region. This study was conducted based on the descriptive-analytical method, and aimed to express the design patterns compatible with the climate of the Tabriz residential fabric. The present article attempts to express the techniques and patterns used in traditional Iranian architecture, especially the Tabriz Sharbatoglu houses and Ghadaki houses, which are supposed to be in accordance with modern concepts of sustainable architecture. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable%20architecture" title="sustainable architecture">sustainable architecture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate" title=" climate"> climate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tabriz" title=" Tabriz"> Tabriz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sharbatoglu%20house" title=" Sharbatoglu house"> Sharbatoglu house</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghadaki%20house" title=" Ghadaki house"> Ghadaki house</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41944/explanation-of-sustainable-architecture-models-in-tabriz-residential-fabric-monuments-case-study-of-sharbatoglu-house-and-ghadaki-house" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41944.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">375</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">17</span> Comparison of Whole-Body Vibration and Plyometric Exercises on Explosive Power in Non-Athlete Girl Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Zarei">Fereshteh Zarei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdi%20Kohandel"> Mahdi Kohandel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this study was investigate and compare plyometric and vibration exercises on muscle explosive power in non-athlete female students. The region is known to be a highly active seismic zone. This study is focused on the geological and seismological analyses within a radius of 200 km from the center of Karaj. There are identified five seismic zones and seven linear seismic sources. The maximum magnitude was calculated for the seismic zones. Scine tghe seismicity catalog is incomplete, we have used a parametric-historic algorithm and the Kijko and Sellevoll (1992) method was used to calculate seismicity parameters, and the return periods and the probability frequency of recurrence of the earthquake magnitude in each zone obtained for 475-years return period. According to the calculations, the highest and lowest earthquake magnitudes of 7.6 and 6.2 were respectively obtained in Zones 1 and 4. This result is a new and extremely important in view point of earthquake risk in a densely population city. The maximum strong horizontal ground motion for the 475-years return period 0.42g and for 2475-year return period 0.70g also the maximum strong vertical ground motion for 475-years return period 0.25g and 2475-years return period 0.44g was calculated using attenuation relationships. Materials and Methods: The purpose of the current study was to determine the protective effect of SA versus CP-induced liver toxicity. In this research, BALB/c mice were treated with SA (5 and 10 mg/kg) orally for one week, and CP (200 mg/kg) was injected on day 3 of the study. Oxidative stress markers, serum liver-specific enzymes, histopathological features, caspase-3, and nuclear factor kappa-B cells were then checked. Results: CP induced hepatotoxicity in mice and showed structural changes in liver tissue. CP significantly increased liver enzymes and lipid peroxidation and decreased glutathione. The immunoreactivity of caspase-3 and nuclear factor kappa-B cells was significantly increased. Administration of SA significantly maintained histochemical parameters and liver function enzymes in mice treated with CP. Immunohistochemical examination showed SA reduced apoptosis and inflammation. Conclusion: The data confirmed that SA with anti-apoptotic, anti-oxidative, and anti-inflammatory activities was able to preserve CP-induced liver injury in mice. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=apoptosis" title="apoptosis">apoptosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyclophosphamide" title=" cyclophosphamide"> cyclophosphamide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=liver%20injury" title=" liver injury"> liver injury</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inflammation" title=" inflammation"> inflammation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxidative%20stress" title=" oxidative stress"> oxidative stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sinapic%20acid" title=" sinapic acid"> sinapic acid</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182692/sinapic-acid-attenuation-of-cyclophosphamide-induced-liver-toxicity-in-mice-by-modulating-oxidative-stress-nf-kb-and-caspase-3" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182692.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">56</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Investigation of the Effects of Dry Needling With Stretching Upper Trapezius Muscle on Clinical Outcomes in Participants With Active Myofascial Trigger Point.</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marzieh%20Yassin">Marzieh Yassin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Navaee"> Fereshteh Navaee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javad%20Sarrafzadeh"> Javad Sarrafzadeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Reza%20Salehi"> Reza Salehi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Myofascial trigger point (MTrP) is one of the most common sources of musculoskeletal pain. Approximately 30-85% of the patients with musculoskeletal pains would experience MTrP in their life. The prevalence of MTrP has reported in the patients seen in a general orthopedic clinic, general medical clinic and specialty pain management centers, 21%, 30% and 93% respectively. Nowadays, dry needling is suggested as a standard treatment for MTrPs. The purpose of the present study was to examine the effectiveness of dry needling with stretching upper trapezius muscle on pain and pain pressure threshold in participants with active myofascial trigger point. Methods: Thirty participants with an active myofascial trigger point of the upper trapezius muscle were randomly divided into two groups: dry needling with passive stretch (n=15) and passive stretch alone (n=15). They received 5 sessions of the treatments for three weeks. The outcomes were pain intensity and pain pressure threshold that were assessed with visual analogue scale and algometer respectively. Results: Significant improvement in pain and pain pressure threshold was observed in both groups (P=0.0001) after the treatment. Also, the results showed a significant difference in measurements between two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: Dry needling with passive stretch can be more effective on pain and pain pressure threshold than passive stretching alone in short term in participants with active myofascial trigger points. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20needling" title="dry needling">dry needling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=myofascial%20pain%20syndrome" title=" myofascial pain syndrome"> myofascial pain syndrome</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=myofascial%20trigger%20point" title=" myofascial trigger point"> myofascial trigger point</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stretching" title=" stretching"> stretching</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174129/investigation-of-the-effects-of-dry-needling-with-stretching-upper-trapezius-muscle-on-clinical-outcomes-in-participants-with-active-myofascial-trigger-point" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174129.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Preparation and Functional Properties of Synbiotic Yogurt Fermented with Lactobacillus brevis PML1 Derived from a Fermented Cereal-Dairy Product</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farideh%20Tabatabei-Yazdi">Farideh Tabatabei-Yazdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Falah"> Fereshteh Falah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Vasiee"> Alireza Vasiee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, production of functional foods has become very essential. Inulin is one of the most functional hydrocolloid compounds used in such products. In the present study, the production of a synbiotic yogurt containing 1, 2.5, and 5% (w/v) inulin has been investigated. The yogurt was fermented with Lactobacillus brevis PML1 derived from Tarkhineh, an Iranian cereal-dairy fermented food. Furthermore, the physicochemical properties, antioxidant activity, sensory attributes, and microbial viability properties were investigated on the 0th, 7th, and 14th days of storage after fermentation. The viable cells of L. brevis PML1 reached 108 CFU/g, and the product resisted to simulated digestive juices. Moreover, the synbiotic yogurt impressively increased the production of antimicrobial compounds and had the most profound antimicrobial effect on S. typhimurium. The physiochemical properties were in the normal range, and the fat content of the synbiotic yogurt was reduced remarkably. The antioxidant capacity of the fermented yogurt was significantly increased (p<0:05), which was equal to those of DPPH (69:18±1:00%) and BHA (89:16±2:00%). The viability of L. brevis PML1 was increased during storage. Sensory analysis showed that there were significant differences in terms of the impressive parameters between the samples and the control (p<0:05). Addition of 2.5% inulin not only improved the physical properties but also retained the viability of the probiotic after 14 days of storage, in addition to the viability of L. brevis with a viability count above 6 log CFU/g in the yogurt. Therefore, a novel synbiotic product containing L. brevis PML1, which can exert the desired properties, can be used as a suitable carrier for the delivery of the probiotic strain, exerting its beneficial health effects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=functional%20food" title="functional food">functional food</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lactobacillus%20brevis" title=" lactobacillus brevis"> lactobacillus brevis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=symbiotic%20yogurt" title=" symbiotic yogurt"> symbiotic yogurt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiochemical%20properties" title=" physiochemical properties"> physiochemical properties</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150723/preparation-and-functional-properties-of-synbiotic-yogurt-fermented-with-lactobacillus-brevis-pml1-derived-from-a-fermented-cereal-dairy-product" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150723.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">91</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> The Study of Climate Change Effects on the Performance of Thermal Power Plants in Iran</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masoud%20Soltani%20Hosseini">Masoud Soltani Hosseini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Rahmani"> Fereshteh Rahmani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Tajik%20Mansouri"> Mohammad Tajik Mansouri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Zolghadr"> Ali Zolghadr</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Climate change is accompanied with ambient temperature increase and water accessibility limitation. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the effects of climate change on thermal power plants including gas turbines, steam and combined cycle power plants in Iran. For this purpose, the ambient temperature increase and water accessibility will be analyzed and their effects on power output and efficiency of thermal power plants will be determined. According to the results, the ambient temperature has high effect on steam power plants with indirect cooling system (Heller). The efficiency of this type of power plants decreases by 0.55 percent per 1oC ambient temperature increase. This amount is 0.52 and 0.2 percent for once-through and wet cooling systems, respectively. The decrease in power output covers a range of 0.2% to 0.65% for steam power plant with wet cooling system and gas turbines per 1oC air temperature increase. Based on the thermal power plants distribution in Iran and different scenarios of climate change, the total amount of power output decrease falls between 413 and 1661 MW due to ambient temperature increase. Another limitation incurred by climate change is water accessibility. In optimistic scenario, the power output of steam plants decreases by 1450 MW in dry and hot climate areas throughout next decades. The remaining scenarios indicate that the amount of decrease in power output would be by 4152 MW in highlands and cold climate. Therefore, it is necessary to consider appropriate solutions to overcome these limitations. Considering all the climate change effects together, the actual power output falls in range of 2465 and 7294 MW and efficiency loss covers the range of 0.12 to .56 % in different scenarios. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate" title="climate">climate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=change" title=" change"> change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal" title=" thermal"> thermal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20plants" title=" power plants"> power plants</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171232/the-study-of-climate-change-effects-on-the-performance-of-thermal-power-plants-in-iran" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171232.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">80</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> The Study of Formal and Semantic Errors of Lexis by Persian EFL Learners</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20J.%20Rezai">Mohammad J. Examining lexical errors committed by EFL learners is a challenging area of investigation which can shed light on the process of second language acquisition. Despite the considerable number of investigations into grammatical errors, few studies have tackled formal and semantic errors of lexis committed by EFL learners. The current study aimed at examining Persian learners’ formal and semantic errors of lexis in English. To this end, 60 students at three different proficiency levels were asked to write on 10 different topics in 10 separate sessions. Finally, 600 essays written by Persian EFL learners were collected, acting as the corpus of the study. An error taxonomy comprising formal and semantic errors was selected to analyze the corpus. The formal category covered misselection and misformation errors, while the semantic errors were classified into lexical, collocational and lexicogrammatical categories. Each category was further classified into subcategories depending on the identified errors. The results showed that there were 2583 errors in the corpus of 9600 words, among which, 2030 formal errors and 553 semantic errors were identified. The most frequent errors in the corpus included formal error commitment (78.6%), which were more prevalent at the advanced level (42.4%). The semantic errors (21.4%) were more frequent at the low intermediate level (40.5%). Among formal errors of lexis, the highest number of errors was devoted to misformation errors (98%), while misselection errors constituted 2% of the errors. Additionally, no significant differences were observed among the three semantic error subcategories, namely collocational, lexical choice and lexicogrammatical. The results of the study can shed light on the challenges faced by EFL learners in the second language acquisition process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collocational%20errors" title="collocational errors">collocational errors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lexical%20errors" title=" lexical errors"> lexical errors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Persian%20EFL%20learners" title=" Persian EFL learners"> Persian EFL learners</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semantic%20errors" title=" semantic errors"> semantic errors</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103271/the-study-of-formal-and-semantic-errors-of-lexis-by-persian-efl-learners" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103271.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">142</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> The Impact of Group Hope Therapy on the Life Satisfaction, Happiness, and Hopefulness of Older Adults</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gholamzadeh%20Sakineh">Gholamzadeh Sakineh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jedi%20Maryam"> Jedi Maryam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Dehghanrad"> Fereshteh Dehghanrad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Mental and psychological issues are common among older adults. Positive psychology theorists and researchers recommend focusing on constructs such as happiness, life satisfaction and hope rather than dwelling on negative experiences and perceptions. Objective: The research aim was to evaluate the impact of hope therapy interventions on the life satisfaction, happiness, and hopefulness of older adults in Iran. Methodology: This study used a quasi-experimental design. A convenience sample of 32 older adults was recruited from a retirement center in Shiraz, Iran. Participants were randomly assigned to either a control group (n = 16) or an experimental group (n = 16). The experimental group received eight sessions of hope therapy, each lasting 1.5 hours. The data for this study were collected using Snyder's Adult Hope Scale (AHS), Oxford Happiness Questionnaire, and Life Satisfaction Index-Z. The questionnaires were administered before, immediately after the intervention, and two months later. Descriptive and analytical statistical tests were used to analyze the data using SPSS version 19. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the sample characteristics and the distribution of the data. Analytical statistics were used to test the research hypotheses. Findings: The results showed that the hope therapy intervention significantly increased the life satisfaction and hopefulness of older adults (p < 0.05). In addition, the influence of time was also significant (p < 0.05). However, the intervention did not affect happiness in statistically significant ways. Conclusions: The findings of this study support the theoretical importance of hope therapy in improving the life satisfaction and hopefulness of older adults. Hope therapy interventions can be considered as an effective way to improve the emotional well-being and quality of life of older adults. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=older%20adults" title="older adults">older adults</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=life%20satisfaction" title=" life satisfaction"> life satisfaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=happiness" title=" happiness"> happiness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hopefulness" title=" hopefulness"> hopefulness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hope%20therapy" title=" hope therapy"> hope therapy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167416/the-impact-of-group-hope-therapy-on-the-life-satisfaction-happiness-and-hopefulness-of-older-adults" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167416.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">82</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Relationship between Pain, Social Support and Socio-Economic Indicators in Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Khazaeipour">Zahra Khazaeipour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ehsan%20Ahmadipour"> Ehsan Ahmadipour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vafa%20Rahimi-Movaghar"> Vafa Rahimi-Movaghar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fereshteh%20Ahmadipour"> Fereshteh Ahmadipour</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Research Objectives: Chronic pain is one of the common problems associated with spinal cord injuries (SCI), which causes many complications. Therefore, this study intended to evaluate the relationship between pain and demographic, injury characteristics, socio-economic and social support in individuals with spinal cord Injury in Iran. Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Setting: Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Research Center (BASIR), Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran, between 2012 and 2013. Participants: The participants were 140 individuals with SCI, 101 (72%) men and 39 (28%) women, with mean age of 29.4 ±7.9 years. Main Outcome Measure: The Persian version of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI) was used to measure the pain, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) was used to measure social support. Results: About 50.7% complained about having pain, which 79.3% had bilateral pain. The most common locations of pain were lower limbs and back. The most quality of pain was described as aching (41.4%), and tingling (32.9%). Patients with a medium level of education had the least pain compared to high and low level of education. SCI individuals with good economic situation reported higher frequency of having pain. There was no significant relationship between pain and social support. There was positive correlation between pain and impairment of mood, normal work, relations with other people and lack of sleep (P < 0.001). Conclusion: These findings revealed the importance of socioeconomic factors such as economic situation and educational level in understanding chronic pain in people with SCI and provide further support for the bio-psychosocial model. Hence, multidisciplinary evaluations and treatment strategies are advocated, including biomedical, psychological, and psycho-social interventions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
