His 2010 novel, <i>Ghost Light</i> is loosely based on the life of the actress <a href="/wiki/Maire_O%27Neill" title="Maire O'Neill">Maire O'Neill</a>, born Mary "Molly" Allgood, and her relationship with the Irish playwright <a href="/wiki/John_Millington_Synge" title="John Millington Synge">John Millington Synge</a>.
