<span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>He is not here, he has risen; remember that he spoke to you while he was in Galilee, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>Saying, that the Son of man had to be delivered into the hands of sinful men,, and be crucified, and rise again on the third day. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And they remembered his words. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And they returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven and to the rest. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>They were Mary of Magdala, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the rest who were with them, who told these things to the apostles. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And these words appeared in their eyes as delusions; and they did not believe them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>But Simon rose up and ran to the tomb; and he looked in and saw the linen laid by itself, and he went away wondering in himself concerning what had happened.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And behold two of them were going on that day to a village called Emmaus, about six miles from Jerusalem. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>They were talking with each other concerning all these things that had happened. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And while they were speaking and asking each other, Jesus came and overtook them, and walked with them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>But the sight of their eyes was holden, so that they could not recognize him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And he said to them, What are these words that you are discussing with each other, as you walk, and are sad? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>One of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to him, Are you a stranger alone from Jerusalem, that you do not know what has happened in it in these days? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>He said to them, What things? They said to him, About Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet, mighty in word and deed before God and before all the people. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And the high priests and the elders delivered him up to the judgment of death, and they crucified him. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>But we were hoping that he was the one to save Israel; and behold, it is three days since all these things happened. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And some of our women also amazed us, for they went early to the tomb; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And when his body was not found, they came, and said to us, We saw angels there, and they said that he is alive. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And some of our men also went to the tomb, and they found it so, as the women had said; but they did not see him.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>Then Jesus said to them, O dull-minded heavy-hearted, slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>Did not Christ have to suffer all these things, and to enter into his glory? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>And he began from Moses and from all the prophets, and interpreted to them from all the scriptures concerning himself.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And they drew near to the village, to which they were going; and he made them think that he was going to a far place. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>But they urged him and said, Remain with us; because the day is spent and it is near dark. So he entered to stay with them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And immediately their eyes were opened and they recognized him; and he was taken away from them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And they said one to another, Were not our hearts heavy within us, when he spoke with us on the road, and interpreted the scriptures to us? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>And they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>Saying, Truly our Lord has risen, and he has appeared to Simon. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>And they also reported those things that happened on the road, and how they knew him as he broke the bread.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And while they were discussing these things, Jesus stood among them, and said to them, Peace be with you; it is I; do not be afraid. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>And they were confused and frightened, for they thought they saw a spirit. The walk to Emmaus. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>Jesus said to them, Why do you tremble? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-39.htm#aramaic"><b>39</b></a></span>Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I; feel me and understand; for a spirit has no flesh and bones, as you see I have. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-40.htm#aramaic"><b>40</b></a></span>When he said these things, he showed them his hands and his feet. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-41.htm#aramaic"><b>41</b></a></span>And as they still did not believe because of their joy, and they were bewildered, he said to them, Have you anything here to eat? <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-42.htm#aramaic"><b>42</b></a></span>They gave him a portion of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-43.htm#aramaic"><b>43</b></a></span>And he took it, and ate before their eyes.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-44.htm#aramaic"><b>44</b></a></span>And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you when I was with you, that everything must be fulfilled which is written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-45.htm#aramaic"><b>45</b></a></span>Then he opened their mind to understand the scriptures. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-46.htm#aramaic"><b>46</b></a></span>And he said to them, Thus it is written, and it was right that Christ should suffer, and rise from the dead on the third day; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-47.htm#aramaic"><b>47</b></a></span>And that repentance should be preached in his name for the forgiveness of sins among all nations; and the beginning will be from Jerusalem. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-48.htm#aramaic"><b>48</b></a></span>And you are witnesses of these things. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-49.htm#aramaic"><b>49</b></a></span>And I will send upon you the promise of my Father; but you remain in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-50.htm#aramaic"><b>50</b></a></span>And he took them out as far as Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-51.htm#aramaic"><b>51</b></a></span>And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he parted from them, and went up to heaven. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-52.htm#aramaic"><b>52</b></a></span>And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/luke/24-53.htm#aramaic"><b>53</b></a></span>And they were always in the temple,<p><br /></div></div><div id="botbox"><div class="padbot"><div align="center">Holy Bible From The Ancient Eastern Texts: Aramaic Of The Peshitta by George M.
