He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1995, and was named Choh-Ming Li Professor of Chemistry in 2015. He is now Head of United College and Associate Director of the Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability. Dr. Yu is a leading scientist in the field of photocatalysis. He appears on the list of Thomson Reuters’ Highly Cited Researchers 2014. In 1987, he founded the Laboratory of Surface Organometallic Chemistry that became later the laboratory of Chemistry, Catalysis, Polymer, Process (C2P2) that he has held from 1994 to 2007.
