Pray ye, therefore, the Lord of the harvest, that He urge forth laborers into His harvest.<Fr> <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span><FR>Go your ways; behold, I am sending you forth as lambs in the midst of wolves.<Fr> <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span><FR>Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals; and salute no one by the way.<Fr> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span><FR>And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, 'Peace <i>be</i> to this house.'<Fr> <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span><FR>And, if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it; but, if not, it will return to you.<Fr> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span><FR>And in the same house abide, eating and drinking the things <i>supplied</i> by them; for the laborer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.<Fr> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span><FR>And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you;<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><FR>and heal the sick therein, and say to them, 'The Kingdom of God has come near to you.'<Fr> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><FR>But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say,<Fr> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><FR>'Even the dust from your city, that cleaves to our feet, we wipe off against you; nevertheless, know this, that the Kingdom of God has come nigh.'<Fr> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>I say to you, it will be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.<Fr><p> <A name="14"></a><p class="hdg">Woe to the Unrepentant<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/11.htm#20">Matthew 11:20&#8211;24</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! because, if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you.<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven? You shall be thrust down to Hades!<Fr><p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>"He who hears you hears Me; and he who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects Him Who sent Me."<Fr><p> <A name="18"></a><p class="hdg">The Joyful Return<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Thy name!" <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And He said to them, <FR>"I was beholding Satan fallen as lightning out of the heavens.<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>Behold, I have given you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall in any wise harm you.<Fr> <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span><FR>Notwithstanding, rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rejoice, because your names have been written in Heaven."<Fr><p> <A name="22"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus&#8217; Prayer of Thanksgiving<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../matthew/11.htm#25">Matthew 11:25&#8211;30</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>In that same hour He exulted in the Holy Spirit, and said, <FR>"I thank Thee, O Father Lord of Heaven and earth, because Thou didst hide these things from the wise and discerning, and didst reveal them to babes: yea, Father, because it was well-pleasing in Thy sight.<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>"All things were delivered up to Me by My Father; and no one knows Who the Son is, but the Father; and Who the Father is, but the Son, and <i>he</i> to whomsoever the Son purposeth to reveal <i>Him</i>."<Fr><p> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And, turning to the disciples, He said, privately, <FR>"Happy the eyes that behold what ye are beholding!<Fr> <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><FR>for I say to you, that many prophets and kings desired to see what ye are beholding, and did not see <i>them</i>; and to hear what ye are hearing, and heard <i>them</i> not."<Fr><p> <A name="26"></a><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Good Samaritan<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, tempting Him, saying, "Teacher, <i>by</i> doing what shall I inherit eternal life?" <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And He said to him, <FR>"What has been written in the law? How do you read?"<Fr> <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And he, answering, said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>And He said to him, <FR>"You answered right; do this, and you shall live."<Fr> <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"<p> <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And Jesus, answering, said, <FR>"A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers; who, both stripping him and inflicting blows, went away, leaving <i>him</i> half dead.<Fr> <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span><FR>And by chance, a certain priest was going down that way; and, seeing him, he passed by on <i>the</i> opposite side.<Fr> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span><FR>And, in like manner, a Levite also, coming to the place, and seeing <i>him</i>, passed by on <i>the</i> opposite side.<Fr> <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span><FR>But a certain Samaritan, going on his way, came down to him; and, seeing <i>him</i>, he was moved with compassion;<Fr> <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span><FR>and, coming to him, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and, setting him on his own beast, he brought him to an inn, and took care of him.<Fr> <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span><FR>And, on the morrow, taking out two denaries, he gave <i>them</i> to the host, and said, 'Take care of him; and whatsoever you expend additional, I, when I return, will repay you.'<Fr> <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-36.htm"><b>36</b></a></span><FR>Which, therefore, of these three seems to you to have become neighbor of him who fell among the robbers?"<Fr> <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-37.htm"><b>37</b></a></span>And he said, "He that dealt kindly with him." And Jesus said to him, <FR>"Go, and do likewise."<Fr><p> <A name="39"></a><p class="hdg">Martha and Mary<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-38.htm"><b>38</b></a></span>Now, as they were going on their way, He entered into a certain village; and a certain woman, Martha by name, received Him into her house. <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-39.htm"><b>39</b></a></span>And she had a sister called Mary, who, also seated at the Lord's feet, was hearing His word. <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/10-40.htm"><b>40</b></a></span>But Martha was being distracted about much serving; and, coming up suddenly, she said, "Lord, carest Thou not that my sister left me to serve alone?
