Presumably the medieval Hemyock Castle would have been considered a "fortified house," and so been ignored unless it became a threat.</p> <p>From the Calendar of State Papers, Domestic Series, 1645, June 5.<br> Proceedings at the Committee of both kingdoms:</p> <blockquote> <p class="block100">Item 14: To acknowledge the receipt of Sir Thos. Fairfax's letter, and add this clause, that he amuse not himself in taking [fortified] houses, but hasten to effect a conjunction with Vermuyden's and Cromwell's forces.</p> </blockquote> <hr> <h3 id="dog">King Charles's Lost Spaniel</h3> <p>Both Kings Charles I and Charles II were so fond of their small spaniel dogs that breeds are still named after them: The King Charles and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
