du cadre national &eacute;tatique, dans des espaces r&eacute;els ou symboliques, et le plus souvent au moyen de nouveaux imaginaires et r&eacute;cits identitaires (Capone, 2005).&nbsp;En &eacute;tudiant la mobilit&eacute; musicale et sa r&eacute;ception dans des contextes localis&eacute;s, ce colloque se donne pour objectif de comprendre comment et sous quelle forme la musique &laquo;&nbsp;migre&nbsp;&raquo; conjointement aux cultes qu&rsquo;elle accompagne, comment elle participe &agrave; la fabrique de soci&eacute;t&eacute;s plurielles et le r&ocirc;le fondamental qu&rsquo;elle joue dans l&rsquo;invention et la r&eacute;invention des id&eacute;es, des identit&eacute;s et des pratiques religieuses en contexte transnational.</p> </div> <div id="resume-300249-en" class="tabContent hidden" lang="en" xml:lang="en"> <p style="text-align: left;">The transnationalization of religion refers to the relocalization of beliefs, rituals and religious practices beyond state lines, in real or symbolic spaces, with the help of new imaginaries and narrative identities (Capone 2005). By studying musical mobility and its reception in local contexts, this conference aims at understanding how music "migrates" along with religions, how it contributes to the construction of plural societies, and the fundamental role it plays in the creation and recreation of ideas, identities, and religious practices in a transnational context.</p> </div> </div> <div id="annonce"> <p class="intitule">Annonce</p> <div class="tabMenu"><a href="#annonce-300249-fr" hreflang="fr" class="active">Fran莽ais</a>&#32;<a href="#annonce-300249-en" hreflang="en">English</a>&#32;</div> <div id="annonce-300249-fr" class="tabContent" lang="fr" xml:lang="fr"> <h1 style="text-align: justify;" align="center">Argumentaire</h1> <p style="text-align: justify;">La notion de &laquo; transnationalisation &raquo; a &eacute;merg&eacute; au d&eacute;but des ann&eacute;es 1990 dans le champ des &eacute;tudes sur la migration. Cette notion, qui vise &agrave; d&eacute;passer les &Eacute;tats-nations comme cadre d&rsquo;analyse, a d&rsquo;abord &eacute;t&eacute; d&eacute;finie comme un &laquo; processus par lequel les immigr&eacute;s forgent et maintiennent des relations sociales multiples et imbriqu&eacute;es qui relient leurs soci&eacute;t&eacute;s d&rsquo;origine et d&rsquo;accueil &raquo; (Basch &amp; al. 1994). Loin de se limiter &agrave; l&rsquo;&eacute;tude des ph&eacute;nom&egrave;nes migratoires, l&rsquo;approche transnationale s&rsquo;est rapidement av&eacute;r&eacute;e f&eacute;conde dans de nombreux domaines. Parmi les principaux travaux pr&eacute;curseurs, ceux de Slobin (1993) ont certainement apport&eacute; les premi&egrave;res pierres th&eacute;oriques &agrave; l&rsquo;approche transnationale de la musique.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Pour int&eacute;ressante qu&rsquo;elle soit, l&rsquo;approche transnationale de la musique se livre rarement &agrave; une analyse musicale des processus &agrave; l&rsquo;&oelig;uvre. Le plus souvent, elle porte un regard sociologique sur des musiques populaires et s&eacute;culi&egrave;res ayant acquis une dimension transnationale, telles que le jazz, le rock, le rap, le reggae, le zouk et, &eacute;videmment, la World music. Plus rares sont les &eacute;tudes visant &agrave; explorer les liens entre musique et religion dans une perspective &agrave; la fois musicale et transnationale. Or, la musique joue un r&ocirc;le central dans les ph&eacute;nom&egrave;nes de transnationalisation religieuse. La mobilit&eacute; des musiques, musiciens et supports musicaux contribue &agrave; la diss&eacute;mination des id&eacute;es, identit&eacute;s et pratiques religieuses au-del&agrave; des fronti&egrave;res nationales. Les flux musicaux tissent des r&eacute;seaux d&rsquo;interconnexion religieuse qui transcendent les &Eacute;tats-nations. Les processus de d&eacute;territorialisation et de reterritorialisation musicale conduisent &agrave; la formation de communaut&eacute;s religieuses transnationales qui se nourrissent de l&rsquo;imaginaire d&rsquo;une nation d&rsquo;origine et d&rsquo;un lieu d&rsquo;ancrage (plus ou moins virtuel ou imagin&eacute;) pour se construire de nouvelles identit&eacute;s.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Loin d&rsquo;&ecirc;tre un ph&eacute;nom&egrave;ne nouveau, la transnationalisation musicale du religieux s&rsquo;est acc&eacute;l&eacute;r&eacute;e et intensifi&eacute;e au cours du XX<sup>e</sup> si&egrave;cle. Gr&acirc;ce aux nouveaux moyens de transport et de communication, elle se r&eacute;alise d&eacute;sormais &agrave; des &eacute;chelles plus globales. Si la transnationalisation musicale du religieux est historiquement li&eacute;e &agrave; l&rsquo;entreprise missionnaire, la colonisation et l&rsquo;esclavage, elle s&rsquo;observe aussi dans le contexte de la migration et, plus largement, lors du d&eacute;placement des musiciens, la circulation des recueils de chants et la diffusion des enregistrements, sur des supports mat&eacute;riels (disques, cassettes, CDs, DVDs) et immat&eacute;riels (radio, t&eacute;l&eacute;vision, Internet). Dans tous ces contextes, les rythmes, m&eacute;lodies, paroles des chants, r&eacute;pertoires, danses et instruments circulent et v&eacute;hiculent des significations qui participent &agrave; la recomposition des univers de sens, des identit&eacute;s religieuses, des rituels, des pri&egrave;res et des modes d&rsquo;incarnation du divin. En &eacute;tudiant ainsi la mobilit&eacute; musicale et sa r&eacute;ception dans des contextes localis&eacute;s, ce colloque a pour ambition de comprendre comment la transnationalisation musicale contribue &agrave; l&rsquo;homog&eacute;n&eacute;isation des pratiques cultuelles &agrave; l&rsquo;&eacute;chelle globale tout en r&eacute;affirmant les identit&eacute;s locales par un processus d&rsquo;indig&eacute;nisation (Appadurai 2005).</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&Agrave; un niveau davantage &eacute;pist&eacute;mologique, l&rsquo;objectif sera de parvenir &agrave; trouver un terrain commun entre des chercheurs qui ne parlent pas forc&eacute;ment le m&ecirc;me langage scientifique. Seeking to go beyond the nation-state as the frame of analysis, transnationalism was initially defined as the &ldquo;process by which immigrants forge and sustain multi-stranded social relations that link together their societies of origin and settlement&rdquo; (Basch et al., 1994). Rather than being confined to studies of migration, however, the concept was rapidly taken up in many different fields. The work of Slobin (1993), which figures among the main pioneering studies on the concept, provided important foundations for theorizing the issue of music and transnationalism.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">Although the concept is certainly interesting, the application of transnational theory to music rarely engages in musical analysis of the processes at work. Instead, research using this theoretical approach tends to examine music from a sociological perspective, focusing particularly on popular and secular music that has acquired a transnational dimension, such as jazz, rock, rap, reggae, zouk, and, of course, world music. Studies seeking to explore the connections between music and religion from a perspective that considers both issues of music and transnationalism are few and far between. Yet music plays a central role in religious transnationalization. The mobility of music, musicians, and musical media contributes to the dissemination of religious ideas, identities, and practices beyond national borders. The flow of music weaves together religious networks that transcend the nation-state. Musical deterritorialization and reterritorialization promotes the creation of transnational religious communities that cultivate the imagination of a country of origin and a place of settlement (more or less virtual or imagined) in order to construct new identities.</p> <p style="text-align: left;">While far from being a new concept, musical transnationalization of religion has accelerated and intensified over the course of the 20<sup>th</sup> century: with new means of transportation and communication, the phenomenon now occurs on a more global scale. If the musical transnationalization of religion was historically associated with missionary activities, colonialism, and slavery, it also occurs within the context of migration and, more broadly, with the movement of musicians, the circulation of songbooks, and the dissemination of recordings in various media, both tangible (LPs, cassette tapes, CDs, and DVDs) and intangible (radio, television, and the Internet). In each of these contexts, the rhythms, melodies, lyrics, repertoires, dances, and instruments circulate and promote significations that contribute to the reshaping of worldviews, religious identities, rituals, prayers, and modes of divine presence. By studying musical mobility and its reception in local contexts, this conference seeks to understand how musical transnationalization contributes to the homogenization of worship practices on a global scale while at the same time reaffirming local identities through a process of indigenization (Appadurai 2005).</p> <p style="text-align: left;">Another particular ambition, on a higher epistemological level, is to find some common ground for researchers who do not necessarily speak the same academic language.
