It covers central and northern Tunisia, and the northern part of the Gulf of Gabes. The Bahloul Formation is considered as one of the main source rocks in Tunisia and is composed of outer-shelf to slop-laminated and dark-gray to black-colored limestones and marls. This formation had been deposited in a relatively deep-marine, calm, and anoxic environment. Rock-Eval analysis and vitrinite reflectance (Ro) measurements were performed on the basis of the organic carbon content. Several samples were chosen for molecular organic geochemistry. Saturate and aromatic hydrocarbons were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC–mass spectrometry. Geochemical data of the Bahloul Formation in northern and central Tunisia show this level to be a good potential source rock as indicated by the high content of type II organic matter. This formation exhibits high total organic carbon contents (as much as 14%), with an average value of 2% and a good to excellent petroleum potential, ranging between 2 and 50 kg of hydrocarbon/ton of rock. The extracts from the Bahloul Formation are characterized by Pr/Ph ratios ranging between 1.5 and 3, a moderate diasterane content, a C27 sterane approximately equal to C29 sterane, a high C28/C29 ratio, low gammacerane index, a C35/C34 homohopane ratio less than 1 and carbon isotope compositions between -24 and -26‰. The thermal maturity is relatively low, corresponding to the beginning of the oil window in the western area near the Algerian border, in the oil window in the eastern area (Sahel basin) and late mature in northern part. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomarkers" title="biomarkers">biomarkers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20geochemistry" title=" organic geochemistry"> organic geochemistry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=source%20rock" title=" source rock"> source rock</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tunisia" title=" Tunisia "> Tunisia </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23712/organic-geochemistry-of-the-late-cenomanian-early-turonian-source-rock-in-central-and-northern-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23712.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">483</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Mechanical Study Material on Low Environmental Impact</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fetta%20Ait%20Ahsene-Aissat">Fetta Ait Ahsene-Aissat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Messaoud%20Hachemi"> Messaoud Hachemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Moussaoui"> Yacine Moussaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Kerchiche"> Yacine Kerchiche</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Our study focuses on two important aspects, environmental by using a sub industrial product (FAD), by economic incorporation as an addition to Portland cement, thus improving resistance to compression and bending with different proportions ADF % up to 40 additions. Finding a genetic link between these oil seeps and the area's putative source rocks is the goal of this investigation. Here, we use aliphatic biomarkers assessed by GC-MS to describe the organic geochemical data of 18 oil seeps samples and 4 source rocks (M'Cherga, Fahdene, Bahloul, and BouDabbous). In order to establish correlations between oil and oil and oil and source rock, terpanes, hopanes, and steranes biomarkers were identified. The source rocks under study were deposited in a marine environment and were suboxic, with minor signs of continental input for the M'Cherga Formation. There is no connection between the Fahdene and Bahloul source rocks and the udied oil seeps. According to the biomarkers C27 18-22,29,30trisnorneohopane (Ts) and C27 17-22,29,30-trisnorhopane (Tm), these source rocks are mature and have reached the oil window. Regarding oil seeps, geochemical data indicate that, with the exception of four samples that showed some continental markings, the bulk of samples were deposited in an open marine environment. These most recent samples from oil seeps have a unique lithology (marl) that distinguishes them from the others (carbonate). There are two classes of oil seeps, according to statistical analysis of relationships between oil and oil and oil and source rocks. The first comprised samples that showed a positive connection with carbonate-lithological and marine-derived BouDabbous black shales. The second is a result of M'Cherga source rock and is made up of oil seeps with remnants of the terrestrial environment and a lithology with a marl trend. The Fahdene and Bahloul source rocks have no connection to the observed oil seeps. There are two different types of hydrocarbon spills depending on their link to tectonic deformations (oil seeps) and outcropping mature source rocks (oil impregnations), in addition to the existence of two generations of hydrocarbon spills in Northwest Tunisia (Lower Cretaceous/Ypresian). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=petroleum%20seeps" title="petroleum seeps">petroleum seeps</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=source%20rocks" title=" source rocks"> source rocks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomarkers" title=" biomarkers"> biomarkers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=statistic" title=" statistic"> statistic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Northern%20Tunisia" title=" Northern Tunisia"> Northern Tunisia</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174820/analyzing-oil-seeps-manifestations-and-petroleum-impregnation-in-northwestern-tunisia-from-aliphatic-biomarkers-and-statistical-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174820.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">69</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> The Influence of Salt Body of J. One of these zones is the salt province, where the Halokinesis process is manifested by a number of NE/SW salt structures such as Jebel Ech-Cheid which represents masses of materials characterized by a high plasticity and low density. The salt masses extrusions that have been developed due to an extension that started from the late Triassic to late Cretaceous. The evolution of salt bodies within sedimentary basins have not only contributed to modify the architecture of the basin, but it also has certain geochemical effects which touch mainly source rocks that surround it. It has been demonstrated that the presence of salt structures within sedimentary basins can influence its temperature distribution and thermal history. Moreover, it has been creating heat flux anomalies that may affect the maturity of organic matter and the timing of hydrocarbon generation. Field samples of the Bahloul source rock (Cenomanan-Tunonian) were collected from different sights from all around Ech Cheid salt structure and evaluated using Rock-eval pyrolysis and GC/MS techniques in order to assess the degree of maturity evolution and the heat flux anomalies in the different zones analyze. The Total organic Carbon (TOC) values range between 1 to 9% and the (Tmax) ranges between 424 and 445°C, also the distribution of the source rock biomarkers both saturated and aromatic changes in a regular fashions with increasing maturity and this are shown in the chromatography results such as Ts/(Ts+Tm) ratios, 22S/(22S+22R) values for C31 homohopanes, ββ/(ββ+αα)20R and 20S/(20S+20R) ratios for C29 steranes which gives a consistent maturity indications and assessment of the field samples. These analyses are carried to interpret the maturity evolution and the heat flux around Ech Cheid salt structure through the geological history. These analyses also aim to demonstrate that the salt structure can have a direct effect on the geothermal gradient of the basin and on the maturity of the Bahloul Formation source rock. The organic matter has reached different stages of thermal maturity, but delineate a general increasing maturity trend. Our study confirms that the J. Ech Cheid salt body have on the first hand: a huge influence on the local distribution of anoxic depocentre at least within Cenomanian-Turonian time. In the second hand, the thermal anomaly near the salt mass has affected the maturity of Bahloul Formation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bahloul%20formation" title="Bahloul formation">Bahloul formation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=depocentre" title=" depocentre"> depocentre</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GC%2FMS" title=" GC/MS"> GC/MS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rock-eval" title=" rock-eval"> rock-eval</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70449/the-influence-of-salt-body-of-j-ech-cheid-on-the-maturity-history-of-the-cenomanian-turonian-source-rock" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/70449.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">239</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Phytoremediation of Zn-Contaminated Soils by Malva Sylvestris</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelouahab%20Diafat">Abdelouahab Diafat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meribai%20Abdelmalek"> Meribai Abdelmalek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Bahloul"> Ahmed Bahloul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> phytoremediation is the use of plants to remove or degrade organic or inorganic contaminants from soil and water this work aims to study the potential effect of malva sylvestris for the phytoremediation of soils contaminated by Zn. plants were grown in pots containing soil artificially contaminated with Zn at concentrations of 100, 200, and 300 mg/kg. the results obtained show that the Zn concentrations used have a negative effect on the growth of this plant the search for the metal carried out by the technique of atomic absorption spectrometry shows that this plant accumulates a small quantity of this metal. it can be concluded that the malva sylvestris plant tolerates Zn contaminated soils but it is not considered as a zinc hyperaccumulator plant <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phytoremidiation" title="phytoremidiation">phytoremidiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zn-contaminated%20soils" title=" Zn-contaminated soils"> Zn-contaminated soils</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Malva%20Sylvestris" title=" Malva Sylvestris"> Malva Sylvestris</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phytoextraction" title=" phytoextraction"> phytoextraction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159945/phytoremediation-of-zn-contaminated-soils-by-malva-sylvestris" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159945.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">86</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Structural, Electronic and Optical Properties of LiₓNa1-ₓH for Hydrogen Storage</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20Bahloul">B. The exchange-correlation potential is determined through the generalized gradient approximation (PBEsol-GGA) within the density functional theory (DFT) framework, utilizing the projected augmented wave pseudopotentials (PAW) approach. The Quantum Espresso code is employed for conducting these calculations. The calculated lattice parameters at equilibrium volume and the bulk modulus for x=0 and x=1 exhibit good agreement with existing literature data. Additionally, the LiₓNa1-ₓH alloys are identified as having a direct band gap. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DFT" title="DFT">DFT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural" title=" structural"> structural</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electronic" title=" electronic"> electronic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20properties" title=" optical properties"> optical properties</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183801/structural-electronic-and-optical-properties-of-lina1-h-for-hydrogen-storage" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/183801.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">71</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">23</span> Teachers’ Awareness of the Significance of Lifelong Learning: A Case Study of Secondary School Teachers of Batna - Algeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bahloul%20Amel">Bahloul Amel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study is an attempt to raise the awareness of the stakeholders and the authorities on the sensitivity of Algerian secondary school teachers of English as a Foreign Language about the students’ loss of English language skills learned during formal schooling with effort and at expense and the supposed measures to arrest that loss. Through the rise of descriptive approach in the late 1970s and 1980s, translation process managed to meet the requirements of social aspects as well as linguistic approaches. To have the translation considered as the cross-cultural communication through which various cultures communicate in ideological and cultural constraints, the contrastive analysis was conducted in this paper to reveal the distortions imposed in the translated texts. The corpus of the study involved the novel 1984 written by George Orwell and its Persian translated texts which were analyzed through the qualitative type of the research based on critical discourse analysis (CDA) and Toury's norms as well as Lefever's concepts of ideology. Results of the study revealed the point that ideology and the cultural constraints were considered as an important stimulus which can control the process of the translation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=critical%20discourse%20analysis" title="critical discourse analysis">critical discourse analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ideology" title=" ideology"> ideology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=norms" title=" norms"> norms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=translated%20texts" title=" translated texts"> translated texts</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62762/ideological-manipulations-and-cultural-norm-constraints" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/62762.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">336</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">20</span> A Coupled System of Caputo-Type Katugampola Fractional Differential Equations with Integral Boundary Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Arioua">Yacine Arioua</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a coupled system of nonlinear Caputo-type Katugampola fractional differential equations with integral boundary conditions. The assessment in this study went beyond the faithfulness based on repetition, addition, deletion, and creation which limit the analysis from other aspects. In fact, this research aimed to pinpoint the role of multimodality in examining the intersemiotic translations of the novel into film by means of analyzing different applied modes. Through a qualitative type of research, the analysis was conducted based on the theory proposed by Burn as Kineikonic mode theory derived from the concept of multimodality. The results of the study revealed that due to the applied modes, each adaptation represents a sense and meaning different from the other one. Analyzing the results and discussions, it was concluded that not only the modes have an undeniable role in film adaptations, but rather multimodal analysis including different nonverbal modes can be a useful and functional choice for analyzing the intersemiotic translations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cinematic%20adaptation" title="cinematic adaptation">cinematic adaptation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intersemiotic%20translation" title=" intersemiotic translation"> intersemiotic translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=kineikonic%20mode" title=" kineikonic mode"> kineikonic mode</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multimodality" title=" multimodality"> multimodality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63177/a-multimodal-approach-towards-intersemiotic-translations-of-the-great-gatsby" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63177.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">421</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">16</span> Selecting Skyline Mash-Ups under Uncertainty</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aymen%20Gammoudi">Aymen Gammoudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamza%20Labbaci"> Hamza Labbaci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nizar%20Messai"> Nizar Messai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Sam"> Yacine Sam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Web Service Composition (Mash-up) has been considered as a new approach used to offer the user a set of Web Services responding to his request. These approaches can return a set of similar Mash-ups in a given context that makes users unable to select the perfect one. Recent approaches focus on computing the skyline over a set of Quality of Service (QoS) attributes. However, these approaches are not sufficient in a dynamic web service environment where the delivered QoS by a Web service is inherently uncertain. In this paper, we treat the problem of computing the skyline over a set of similar Mash-ups under certain dimension values. We generate dimensions for each Mash-up using aggregation operations applied to the QoS attributes. We then tackle the problem of computing the skyline under uncertain dimensions. We present each dimension value of mash-up using a frame of discernment and introduce the d-dominance using the Evidence Theory. Finally, we propose our experimental results that show both the effectiveness of the introduced skyline extensions and the efficiency of the proposed approaches. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=web%20services" title="web services">web services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertain%20QoS" title=" uncertain QoS"> uncertain QoS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mash-ups" title=" mash-ups"> mash-ups</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertain%20%20dimensions" title=" uncertain dimensions"> uncertain dimensions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skyline" title=" skyline"> skyline</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=evidence%20%20theory" title=" evidence theory"> evidence theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=d-dominance" title=" d-dominance"> d-dominance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137195/selecting-skyline-mash-ups-under-uncertainty" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137195.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">234</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Patronage Network and Ideological Manipulations in Translation of Literary Texts: A Case Study of George Orwell&#039;s “1984” in Persian Translation in the Period 1980 to 2015</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masoud%20Hassanzade%20Novin">Masoud Hassanzade Novin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bahloul%20Salmani"> Bahloul Salmani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The process of the translation is not merely the linguistic aspects. Transfer path analysis (TPA) has been a valuable engineering tool for solving Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH problems using sub-structuring applications. The most challenging part of a TPA analysis is estimating the equivalent forces at the contact points between the active and the passive side. Component TPA in situ Method calculates these forces by inverting the frequency response functions (FRFs) measured at the passive subsystem, relating the motion at indicator points to forces at the interface. However, matrix inversion could pose problems due to the ill-conditioning of the matrices leading to inaccurate results. This paper establishes a TPA model for an academic system consisting of two plates linked by four springs. A numerical study has been performed to improve the interface forces identification. Several parameters are studied and discussed, such as the singular value rejection and the number and position of indicator points chosen and used in the inversion matrix. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transfer%20path%20analysis" title="transfer path analysis">transfer path analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=matrix%20inverse%20method" title=" matrix inverse method"> matrix inverse method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indicator%20points" title=" indicator points"> indicator points</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SVD%20decomposition" title=" SVD decomposition"> SVD decomposition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166401/enhancing-transfer-path-analysis-with-in-situ-component-transfer-path-analysis-for-interface-forces-identification" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166401.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">84</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> Long Short-Term Memory Based Model for Modeling Nicotine Consumption Using an Electronic Cigarette and Internet of Things Devices</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamdi%20Amroun">Hamdi Amroun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Benziani"> Yacine Benziani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehdi%20Ammi"> Mehdi Ammi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we want to determine whether the accurate prediction of nicotine concentration can be obtained by using a network of smart objects and an e-cigarette. The approach consists of, first, the recognition of factors influencing smoking cessation such as physical activity recognition and participant&rsquo;s behaviors (using both smartphone and smartwatch), then the prediction of the configuration of the e-cigarette (in terms of nicotine concentration, power, and resistance of e-cigarette). The study uses a network of commonly connected objects; a smartwatch, a smartphone, and an e-cigarette transported by the participants during an uncontrolled experiment. The data obtained from sensors carried in the three devices were trained by a Long short-term memory algorithm (LSTM). Results show that our LSTM-based model allows predicting the configuration of the e-cigarette in terms of nicotine concentration, power, and resistance with a root mean square error percentage of 12.9%, 9.15%, and 11.84%, respectively. This study can help to better control consumption of nicotine and offer an intelligent configuration of the e-cigarette to users. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iot" title="Iot">Iot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=activity%20recognition" title=" activity recognition"> activity recognition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automatic%20classification" title=" automatic classification"> automatic classification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconstrained%20environment" title=" unconstrained environment"> unconstrained environment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89965/long-short-term-memory-based-model-for-modeling-nicotine-consumption-using-an-electronic-cigarette-and-internet-of-things-devices" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89965.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">224</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Temporal Trends in the Urban Metabolism of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naif%20Albelwi">Naif Albelwi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alan%20Kwan"> Alan Kwan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Rezgui"> Yacine Rezgui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cities with rapid growth face tremendous challenges not only to provide services to meet this growth but also to assure that this growth occurs in a sustainable way. The consumption of material, energy, and water resources is inextricably linked to population growth with a unique impact in urban areas, especially in light of significant investments in infrastructure to support urban development. Urban Metabolism (UM) is becoming popular as it provides a framework accounting the mass and energy flows through a city. The objective of this study is to determine the energy and material flows of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia using locally generated data from 1996 and 2012 and analyzing the temporal trends of energy and material flows. Preliminary results show that while the population of Riyadh grew 90% since 1996, the input and output flows have increased at higher rate. Results also show increasing in energy mobile consumption from 61k TJ in 1996 to 157k TJ in 2012 which points to Riyadh’s inefficient urban form. The study findings highlight the importance to develop effective policies for improving the use of resources. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20and%20water%20consumption" title="energy and water consumption">energy and water consumption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20development" title=" urban development"> urban development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20metabolism" title=" urban metabolism"> urban metabolism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55550/temporal-trends-in-the-urban-metabolism-of-riyadh-saudi-arabia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55550.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">272</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Thermal Interruption Performance of High Voltage Gas Circuit Breaker Operating with CO₂ Mixtures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Babou">Yacine Babou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nitesh%20Ranjan"> Nitesh Ranjan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Branimir%20Radisavljevic"> Branimir Radisavljevic </a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martin%20Seeger"> Martin Seeger</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Daniel%20Over"> Daniel Over</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Torsten%20Votteler"> Torsten Votteler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bernardo%20Galletti"> Bernardo Galletti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paulo%20Cristini"> Paulo Cristini</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the frame of replacement of Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas as insulating and switching medium, diverse alternative gases, offering acceptable Global Warming Potential and fulfilling requirements in terms of heat dissipation, insulation and arc quenching performances are currently investigated for High Voltage Circuit Breaker applications. Among the potential gases, CO₂ seems a promising candidate for replacing SF6, because on one hand it is environmentally friendly, harmless, non-toxic, non-corrosive, non-flammable and on the other hand previous studies have demonstrated its fair interruption capabilities. The present study aims at investigating the performance of CO₂ for the thermal interruption in high voltage self-blast circuit breakers. In particular, the correlation between thermal interruption performance and arc voltage is considered and the effect of the arc-network interaction on the performance is rigorously analyzed. For the considered designs, the thermal interruption was evaluated by varying the slope at current zero (i.e., di/dt) for which the breaker could interrupt. Besides, the characteristics of the post-arc current are examined in detail for various rated voltages and currents. The outcome of these experimental investigations will be reported and analyzed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=current%20zero%20measurement" title="current zero measurement">current zero measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20voltage%20circuit%20breaker" title=" high voltage circuit breaker"> high voltage circuit breaker</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20arc%20discharge" title=" thermal arc discharge"> thermal arc discharge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20interruption" title=" thermal interruption"> thermal interruption</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135199/thermal-interruption-performance-of-high-voltage-gas-circuit-breaker-operating-with-co2-mixtures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135199.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">185</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Electrochemical and Photoelectrochemical Study of Polybithiophene–MnO2 Composite Films </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Zouaoui">H. They are, furthermore, chemically and thermally stable materials, and are very attractive for exploitation of their physical properties. The polythiophenes are extensively studied due to the possibility of synthesizing low band gap materials by using substituted thiophenes as precursors. Low band gap polymers may convert visible light into electricity and some photoelectrochemical cells based on these materials have been prepared. Polythiophenes (PThs) are good candidates for polymer optoelectronic devices such as polymer solar cells (PSCs) polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) field-effect transistors (FETs) electrochromics and biosensors. In this work, MnO2 has been synthesized by hydrothermal method and analyzed by infrared spectroscopy. The polybithiophene+MnO2 composite films were electrochemically prepared by cyclic voltammetry technic on a conductor glass substrate ITO (indium–tin-oxide). The composite films are characterized by cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy and photoelectrochemical analyses. The results confirmed the presence of manganese dioxide nanoparticles in the polymer layer. An application has been made by using these deposits as an electrode in a photoelectrochemical cell for measuring photocurrent tests. The composite films show a significant photocurrent intensity 80 μA.cm-2. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polybithiophene" title="polybithiophene">polybithiophene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MnO2" title=" MnO2"> MnO2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoelectrochemical%20cells" title=" photoelectrochemical cells"> photoelectrochemical cells</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=composite%20films" title=" composite films"> composite films</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14295/electrochemical-and-photoelectrochemical-study-of-polybithiophene-mno2-composite-films" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14295.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">353</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Liquid-Liquid Extraction of Uranium (VI) from Aqueous Solution Using 1-Hydroxyalkylidene-1,1-Diphosphonic Acids</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustapha%20Bouhoun%20Ali">Mustapha Bouhoun Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Yacine%20Badjah%20Hadj%20Ahmed"> Ahmed Yacine Badjah Hadj Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mouloud%20Attou"> Mouloud Attou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdel%20Hamid%20Elias"> Abdel Hamid Elias</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Amine%20Didi"> Mohamed Amine Didi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The extraction of uranium(VI) from aqueous solutions has been investigated using 1-hydroxyhexadecylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HHDPA) and 1-hydroxydodecylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid (HDDPA), which were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 31P NMR spectroscopy. In this paper, we propose a tentative assignment for the shifts of those two ligands and their specific complexes with uranium(VI). We carried out the extraction of uranium(VI) by HHDPA and HDDPA from [carbon tetrachloride + 2-octanol (v/v: 90%/10%)] solutions. Various factors such as contact time, pH, organic/aqueous phase ratio and extractant concentration were considered. The optimum conditions obtained were: contact time = 20 min, organic/aqueous phase ratio = 1, pH value = 3.0 and extractant concentration = 0.3M. The extraction yields are more significant in the case of the HHDPA which is equipped with a hydrocarbon chain, longer than that of the HDDPA. Logarithmic plots of the uranium(VI) distribution ratio vs. pHeq and the extractant concentration showed that the ratio of extractant to extracted uranium(VI) (ligand/metal) is 2:1. The formula of the complex of uranium(VI) with the HHDPA and the DHDPA is UO2(H3L)2 (HHDPA and DHDPA are denoted as H4L). A spectroscopic analysis has showed that coordination of uranium(VI) takes place via oxygen atoms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=liquid-liquid%20extraction" title="liquid-liquid extraction">liquid-liquid extraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uranium%28VI%29" title=" uranium(VI)"> uranium(VI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=1-hydroxyalkylidene-1" title=" 1-hydroxyalkylidene-1"> 1-hydroxyalkylidene-1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=1-diphosphonic%20acids" title="1-diphosphonic acids">1-diphosphonic acids</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HHDPA" title=" HHDPA"> HHDPA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HDDPA" title=" HDDPA"> HDDPA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aqueous%20solution" title=" aqueous solution"> aqueous solution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18650/liquid-liquid-extraction-of-uranium-vi-from-aqueous-solution-using-1-hydroxyalkylidene-11-diphosphonic-acids" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18650.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">528</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Statistical Analysis Approach for the e-Glassy Mortar And Radiation Shielding Behaviors Using Anova</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abadou%20Yacine">Abadou Yacine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faid%20Hayette"> Faid Hayette</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Significant investigations were performed on the use and impact on physical properties along with the mechanical strength of the recycled and reused E-glass waste powder. To be involved in this field, an investigation has been done with the substitution of dune sand for recycled E-glass waste and constant water-cement ratios. The linear relationship between the dune sand mortar and E-glass mortar mix % contributes to the model's reliability. The experimental data was exposed to regression analysis using JMP Statistics software. The regression model with one predictor presented the general form of the equation for the prediction of the five properties' characteristics of dune sand mortar from the substitution ratio of E-waste glass and curing age. The results illustrate that curing a long-term process produced an E-glass waste mortar specimen with the highest compressive strength of 68 MPa in the laboratory environment. The experiment we propose is based on the use of three types of connected objects (smartphone, smart watch, and a connected remote control). 23 participants were observed while watching their TV programs during three phases: before, during and after watching a TV program. Their behaviors were detected using an approach based on The Dempster Shafer Theory (DST) in two phases. The first phase is to approximate dynamically the mass functions using an approach based on the correlation coefficient. The second phase is to calculate the approximate mass functions. To approximate the mass functions, two approaches have been tested: the first approach was to divide each features data space into cells; each one has a specific probability distribution over the behaviors. The probability distributions were computed statistically (estimated by empirical distribution). The second approach was to predict the TV-viewing behaviors through the use of classifiers algorithms and add uncertainty to the prediction based on the uncertainty of the model. Results showed that mixing the fusion rule with the computation of the initial approximate mass functions using a classifier led to an overall of 96%, 95% and 96% success rate for the first, second and third TV-viewing phase respectively. The results were also compared to those found in the literature. This study aims to anticipate certain actions in order to maintain the attention of TV viewers towards the proposed TV programs with usual connected objects, taking into account the various uncertainties that can be generated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Iot" title="Iot">Iot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TV-viewing%20behaviors%20identification" title=" TV-viewing behaviors identification"> TV-viewing behaviors identification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automatic%20classification" title=" automatic classification"> automatic classification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconstrained%20environment" title=" unconstrained environment"> unconstrained environment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89964/a-framework-based-on-dempster-shafer-theory-of-evidence-algorithm-for-the-analysis-of-the-tv-viewers-behaviors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89964.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">229</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Sudden Death and Chronic Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC): Two Case Reports</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saker%20Lilia">Saker Lilia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Youcef%20Mellouki"> Youcef Mellouki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lakhdar%20Sellami"> Lakhdar Sellami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Zerairia"> Yacine Zerairia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelhaid%20Zetili"> Abdelhaid Zetili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatma%20Guahria"> Fatma Guahria</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fateh%20Kaious"> Fateh Kaious</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nesrine%20Belkhodja"> Nesrine Belkhodja</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelhamid%20Mira"> Abdelhamid Mira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Sudden death is regarded as a suspicious demise necessitating autopsy, as stipulated by legal authorities. Chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is an acquired clinical and biological syndrome characterized by a severe and fatal prognosis, stemming from systemic, uncontrolled, diffuse coagulation activation. Irrespective of their origins, DIC is associated with a diverse spectrum of manifestations, encompassing minor biological coagulation alterations to profoundly severe conditions wherein hemorrhagic complications may take precedence. Simultaneously, microthrombi contribute to the development of multi-organ failures. Objective This study seeks to evaluate the role of autopsy in determining the causes of death. Materials and Methods: We present two instances of sudden death involving females who underwent autopsy at the Forensic Medicine Department of the University Hospital of Annaba, Algeria. These autopsies were performed at the request of the prosecutor, aiming to determine the causes of death and illuminate the exact circumstances surrounding it. Methods Utilized: Analysis of the initial information report; Findings from postmortem examinations; Histological assessments and toxicological analyses. Results: The presence of DIC was noted, affecting nearly all veins with distinct etiologies. Conclusion: For the establishment of a meaningful diagnosis: • Thorough understanding of the subject matter is imperative; • Precise alignment with medicolegal data is essential. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chronic%20disseminated%20intravascular%20coagulation" title="chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation">chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sudden%20death" title=" sudden death"> sudden death</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autopsy" title=" autopsy"> autopsy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=causes%20of%20death" title=" causes of death"> causes of death</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171956/sudden-death-and-chronic-disseminated-intravascular-coagulation-dic-two-case-reports" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171956.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">85</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Cybersecurity for Digital Twins in the Built Environment: Research Landscape, Industry Attitudes and Future Direction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaznah%20Alshammari">Kaznah Alshammari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Thomas%20Beach"> Thomas Beach</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Rezgui"> Yacine Rezgui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Technological advances in the construction sector are helping to make smart cities a reality by means of cyber-physical systems (CPS). CPS integrate information and the physical world through the use of information communication technologies (ICT). An increasingly common goal in the built environment is to integrate building information models (BIM) with the Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor technologies using CPS. Future advances could see the adoption of digital twins, creating new opportunities for CPS using monitoring, simulation, and optimisation technologies. However, researchers often fail to fully consider the security implications. To date, it is not widely possible to assimilate BIM data and cybersecurity concepts, and, therefore, security has thus far been overlooked. This paper reviews the empirical literature concerning IoT applications in the built environment and discusses real-world applications of the IoT intended to enhance construction practices, people’s lives and bolster cybersecurity. Specifically, this research addresses two research questions: (a) how suitable are the current IoT and CPS security stacks to address the cybersecurity threats facing digital twins in the context of smart buildings and districts? and (b) what are the current obstacles to tackling cybersecurity threats to the built environment CPS? To answer these questions, this paper reviews the current state-of-the-art research concerning digital twins in the built environment, the IoT, BIM, urban cities, and cybersecurity. The results of these findings of this study confirmed the importance of using digital twins in both IoT and BIM. Also, eight reference zones across Europe have gained special recognition for their contributions to the advancement of IoT science. Therefore, this paper evaluates the use of digital twins in CPS to arrive at recommendations for expanding BIM specifications to facilitate IoT compliance, bolster cybersecurity and integrate digital twin and city standards in the smart cities of the future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BIM" title="BIM">BIM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cybersecurity" title=" cybersecurity"> cybersecurity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20twins" title=" digital twins"> digital twins</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IoT" title=" IoT"> IoT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20cities" title=" urban cities"> urban cities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131999/cybersecurity-for-digital-twins-in-the-built-environment-research-landscape-industry-attitudes-and-future-direction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131999.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">169</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4</span> Mineralogy and Fluid Inclusion Study of the Kebbouch South Pb-Zn Deposit, Northwest Tunisia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imen%20Salhi">Imen Salhi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salah%20Bouhlel"> Salah Bouhlel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bernrd%20Lehmann"> Bernrd Lehmann</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Kebbouch South Pb-Zn deposit is located 20 km to the east of El Kef (NW) in the southeastern part of the Triassic diapir belt in the Tunisian Atlas. Mineralization forms two major ore types: (1) lenticular dolostones and clay breccias in the contact zone between Triassic and Upper Cretaceous strata;, it consists of small-scale lenticular, strata-or fault-controlled mineralization mainly composed of marcasite, galena, sphalerite, pyrite, and (2) stratiform mineralization in the Bahloul Formation (Upper Cenomanian-Lower Turonian) consisting of framboidal and cubic pyrite, disseminated sphalerite and galena. Non-metalliferous and/or gangue minerals are represented by dolomite, calcite, celestite and quartz. Fluid inclusion petrography study has been carried out on calcite and celestite. Fluid inclusions hosted in celestite are less than 20 µm large and show two types of aqueous inclusions: monophase liquid aqueous inclusions (L), abundant and very small, generally less than 15 µm and liquid-rich two phase inclusions (L+V). The gas phase forms a mobile vapor bubble. Microthermometric analyses of (L+V) fluid inclusions for celestite indicate that the homogenization temperature ranges from 121 to 156°C, and final ice melting temperatures are in the range of – 19 to -9°C corresponding to salinities of 12 to 21 wt% NaCl eq. (L+V) fluid inclusions from calcite are frequently localized along the growth zones; their homogenization temperature ranges from 96 to 164°C with final ice melting temperatures between -16 and -7°C corresponding to salinities of 9 to 19 wt% NaCl eq. According to mineralogical and fluid inclusion studies, mineralization in the Pb – Zn Kebbouch South deposit formed between 96 to 164°C with salinities ranging from 9 to 21 wt% NaCl eq. A contribution of basinal brines in the ore formation of the kebbouch South Pb–Zn deposit is likely. The deposit is part of the family of MVT deposits associated with the salt diapir environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluid%20inclusion" title="fluid inclusion">fluid inclusion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kebbouch%20South" title=" Kebbouch South"> Kebbouch South</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mineralogy" title=" mineralogy"> mineralogy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MVT%20deposits" title=" MVT deposits"> MVT deposits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pb-Zn" title=" Pb-Zn"> Pb-Zn</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68088/mineralogy-and-fluid-inclusion-study-of-the-kebbouch-south-pb-zn-deposit-northwest-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68088.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">252</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Geochemical Study of Natural Bitumen, Condensate and Gas Seeps from Sousse Area, Central Tunisia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Belhaj%20Mohamed">Belhaj Mohamed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Saidi"> M. Surface macro-seeps are generally an indication of a fault in an active Petroleum Seepage System belonging to a Total Petroleum System. This paper describes a case study in which multiple analytical techniques were used to identify and characterize trace petroleum-related hydrocarbons and other volatile organic compounds in groundwater samples collected from Sousse aquifer (Central Tunisia). The analytical techniques used for analyses of water samples included gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), capillary GC with flame-ionization detection, Compund Specific Isotope Analysis, Rock Eval Pyrolysis. The objective of the study was to confirm the presence of gasoline and other petroleum products or other volatile organic pollutants in those samples in order to assess the respective implication of each of the potentially responsible parties to the contamination of the aquifer. In addition, the degree of contamination at different depths in the aquifer was also of interest. The oil and gas seeps have been investigated using biomarker and stable carbon isotope analyses to perform oil-oil and oil-source rock correlations. The seepage gases are characterized by high CH4 content, very low δ13CCH4 values (-71,9 ‰) and high C1/C1–5 ratios (0.95–1.0), light deuterium–hydrogen isotope ratios (-198 ‰) and light δ13CC2 and δ13CCO2 values (-23,8‰ and-23,8‰ respectively) indicating a thermogenic origin with the contribution of the biogenic gas. An organic geochemistry study was carried out on the more ten oil seep samples. This study includes light hydrocarbon and biomarkers analyses (hopanes, steranes, n-alkanes, acyclic isoprenoids, and aromatic steroids) using GC and GC-MS. The studied samples show at least two distinct families, suggesting two different types of crude oil origins: the first oil seeps appears to be highly mature, showing evidence of chemical and/or biological degradation and was derived from a clay-rich source rock deposited in suboxic conditions. It has been sourced mainly by the lower Fahdene (Albian) source rocks. The second oil seeps was derived from a carbonate-rich source rock deposited in anoxic conditions, well correlated with the Bahloul (Cenomanian-Turonian) source rock. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomarkers" title="biomarkers">biomarkers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oil%20and%20gas%20seeps" title=" oil and gas seeps"> oil and gas seeps</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=organic%20geochemistry" title=" organic geochemistry"> organic geochemistry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=source%20rock" title=" source rock"> source rock</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23626/geochemical-study-of-natural-bitumen-condensate-and-gas-seeps-from-sousse-area-central-tunisia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23626.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">443</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> The Torah Scroll of the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco: Parchment Support and Black Ink Analytical Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oubelkacem%20Yacine">Oubelkacem Yacine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Bast%20Hassan"> El Bast Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Bakkali%20Abdelmajid"> El Bakkali Abdelmajid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lamhasni%20Taibi"> Lamhasni Taibi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ettakni%20Mahmoud"> Ettakni Mahmoud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ait%20Lyazidi%20Saadia"> Ait Lyazidi Saadia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haddad%20Mustapha"> Haddad Mustapha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ben-Ncer%20Abdelouahed"> Ben-Ncer Abdelouahed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=El%20Ferrane%20Mohammed"> El Ferrane Mohammed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boufarra%20Abdelkrim"> Boufarra Abdelkrim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present work relates to an on-site and completely non-invasive investigation of one of the most famous west Mediterranean Torah Scroll housed at the National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco. The scroll is 26 m long and consists of 143 parchment sheets of 59 cm x 19 cm, exhibiting only black writings; it is of unknown age. The artifact has been restored by the curator staff of the library. The investigation exploring separately the parchment support and the writing black ink aims at: i) the examination of the parchment conservation/degradation state, ii) the identification of the black ink and iii) the identification of the parchment handcrafting materials. For this purpose, the analyses have been based on combining all of elemental XRF and structural Raman, ATR-FT Infrared Red and Fiber Optical Reflectance spectroscopies, in addition to chroma-metric and pH measurements. pH measurements showing values around 6.5 are in concordance with the absence of any visual corrosion related to the parchment acidity. However, on the basis of the relative intensities and frequency shift of amid I (AI) and amid II (AII) vibrational bands of the collagen, ATR-FTIR spectra revealed diffuse hydrolysis and gelatinization of the parchment writing support; diffuse and non-homogeny degradation by gelatinization has been also confirmed by the IG gelatinization index deduced from the NIR bands on the FOR spectra. This IG index, defined as the ratio I (6860 cm-1) / I (6685 cm-1), ranges in the interval 0.98 – 1 and highlights collagen degradation at the molecular level. Sequentially Shifted Excitation Raman measurements (SSERS) crossed to X-ray fluorescence (XRF) ones on the black writings revealed that the black ink used is an iron-copper gall one, while FOR spectra are typical of pure metal gall inks. These later reflectance measurements exclude, thus, any intentional addition of carbon black to the ink recipe. Moreover, no lead white had been used while pre-drawing the writing lines. On another side, ATR-FTIR measurements highlighted the presence of oxalates as ink degradation products. Considering the parchment handcrafting, the combination of XRF and ATR-FTIR measurements led to the assumption that this writing support had been prepared according to ancient Middle East practices; the parchment infrared fingerprint seems identical to that of the Dead Sea scroll. The present multi-technical analyses are the first ones performed on an ancient Judaic written parchment of Morocco; it is under furthering. The investigation will be extended to other parchments belonging to the Jewish Cultural Heritage Museum of Morocco in Casablanca. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=torah%20scroll" title="torah scroll">torah scroll</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parchment" title=" parchment"> parchment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=black%20ink" title=" black ink"> black ink</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-invasive%20analyses" title=" non-invasive analyses"> non-invasive analyses</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XRF%2FATR-FTIR%2FRAMAN%2FFORS" title=" XRF/ATR-FTIR/RAMAN/FORS"> XRF/ATR-FTIR/RAMAN/FORS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167592/the-torah-scroll-of-the-national-library-of-the-kingdom-of-morocco-parchment-support-and-black-ink-analytical-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167592.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">85</span> </span> </div> </div> <ul class="pagination"> <li class="page-item disabled"><span class="page-link">&lsaquo;</span></li> <li class="page-item active"><span class="page-link">1</span></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Bahloul&amp;page=2">2</a></li> <li class="page-item"><a class="page-link" href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yacine%20Bahloul&amp;page=2" rel="next">&rsaquo;</a></li> </ul> </div> </main> <footer> <div id="infolinks" class="pt-3 pb-2"> <div class="container"> <div style="background-color:#f5f5f5;" class="p-3"> <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> About <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">About Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support#legal-information">Legal</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/WASET-16th-foundational-anniversary.pdf">WASET celebrates its 16th foundational anniversary</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Account <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile">My Account</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Explore <li><a href="https://waset.org/disciplines">Disciplines</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conferences">Conferences</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/conference-programs">Conference Program</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Publications</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Research <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts">Abstracts</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org">Periodicals</a></li> <li><a href="https://publications.waset.org/archive">Archive</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Open Science <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Philosophy.pdf">Open Science Philosophy</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Science-Award.pdf">Open Science Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Open-Society-Open-Science-and-Open-Innovation.pdf">Open Innovation</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Postdoctoral-Fellowship-Award.pdf">Postdoctoral Fellowship Award</a></li> <li><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow" href="https://publications.waset.org/static/files/Scholarly-Research-Review.pdf">Scholarly Research Review</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="col-md-2"> <ul class="list-unstyled"> Support <li><a href="https://waset.org/page/support">Support</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Contact Us</a></li> <li><a href="https://waset.org/profile/messages/create">Report Abuse</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="container text-center"> <hr style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:.3rem;"> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/" target="_blank" class="text-muted small">Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License</a> <div id="copy" class="mt-2">&copy;
