Treatments were included regular irrigation or control, water deficit during flowering stage, water deficit during pod formation and water deficit during pod filling period. Results showed that plant height had positive effects on yield of cultivars so that, the tall cultivar, ‘Sayad’, had higher yields. Stress application during flowering stage showed the highest negative impact on plant height and subsequently yield. The longest and the higher number of pods as well as the greatest number of seeds in pods were recorded in control treatment in ‘Sayad’. Stress application during pod formation resulted in the minimum amount of all studied traits in both cultivars. Stress encountered during seed filling period had the least effect on number and length of pods and seed/pod. However, 100 seeds weight significantly decreased. The highest amount for 100 seeds weight was record in control plants in ‘Derakhshan’. Under all treatments, ‘Sayad’ had higher biologic and seed yield compared to ‘Derakhshan’. The least amount of yield was recorded during stress application in pod formation and flowering period for ‘Sayad’ and ‘Derakhshan’ respectively. Harvest index of ‘Sayad’ was more affect by stress application. Data related to photosynthetic rate showed that during stress application, ‘Derakhshan’ owned rapid decline in photosynthesis. Beyond stress alleviation and onset of irrigation, recovery potential of ‘Sayad’ was higher than ‘Derakhshan’ and this cultivar was able to rapidly restore the photosynthesis rate of stress faced plants near control ones. In total, stress had lower impacts on photosynthetic rate of ‘Sayad’ cultivar. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=common%20bean" title="common bean">common bean</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20stress" title=" water stress"> water stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield" title=" yield"> yield</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=yield%20components" title=" yield components"> yield components</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photosynthetic%20rate" title=" photosynthetic rate"> photosynthetic rate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3558/effects-of-drought-stress-on-red-bean-phaseolus-vulgaris-l-cultivars-during-post-flowering-growth-stage" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3558.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">302</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Nano Ceramics Materials in Clean Rooms: Properties and Characterization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HebatAllah%20Tarek">HebatAllah Tarek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20El-Sayad"> Zeyad El-Sayad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20F.%20Bakr"> Ali F. Nano-Ceramic coatings are considered ideal coatings on materials that can significantly improve the surface properties, including anti-fouling, self-cleaning, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, anti-scratch, waterproof, anti-acid rain and anti-asphalt. Furthermore, various techniques have been utilized to fabricate a range of different ceramic coatings with more desirable properties on Nano-ceramics, which make the materials usually used in in-service environments and worth mentioning that the practical part of this study will be applied in one of the most important architectural applications due to the contamination-free conditions provided by it in the manufacturing industry. Without cleanrooms, products will become contaminated and either malfunction or infect people with bacteria. Cleanrooms are used for the manufacture of items used in computers, cars, airplanes, spacecraft, televisions, disc players and many other electronic and mechanical devices, as well as the manufacture of medicines, medical devices, and foods. The aim of this study will be to examine the Nano-ceramics on porcelain and glass panels. The investigation will be included fabrications, methods, surface properties and applications in clean rooms. The unfamiliarity in this study is using Nano-ceramics in clean rooms instead of using them on metallic materials. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nano-ceramic%20coating" title="nano-ceramic coating">nano-ceramic coating</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clean%20rooms" title=" clean rooms"> clean rooms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porcelain" title=" porcelain"> porcelain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20properties" title=" surface properties"> surface properties</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152096/nano-ceramics-materials-in-clean-rooms-properties-and-characterization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152096.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">109</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">14</span> Using Building Information Modeling in Green Building Design and Performance Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Moataz%20M.%20Hamed">Moataz M. By reasoning about specific issues at the correct time in the design process, the design team can minimize negative impacts, maximize building performance and keep both first and operation costs low. This paper attempts to investigate and exploit the sustainable dimension of building information modeling (BIM) in designing high-performance green buildings that require less energy for operation, emit less carbon dioxide and provide a conducive indoor environment for occupants through early phases of the design process. This objective was attained by a critical and extensive literature review that covers the following issues: the value of considering green strategies in the early design stage, green design workflow, and BIM-based performance analysis. Then the research proceeds with a case study that provides an in-depth comparative analysis of building performance evaluation between an office building in Alexandria, Egypt that was designed by the conventional design process with the same building if taking into account sustainability consideration and BIM-based sustainable analysis integration early through the design process. Results prove that using sustainable capabilities of building information modeling (BIM) in early stages of the design process side by side with green design workflow promote buildings performance and sustainability outcome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BIM" title="BIM">BIM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20performance%20analysis" title=" building performance analysis"> building performance analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BIM-based%20sustainable%20analysis" title=" BIM-based sustainable analysis"> BIM-based sustainable analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=green%20building%20design" title=" green building design"> green building design</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76735/using-building-information-modeling-in-green-building-design-and-performance-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76735.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">343</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">13</span> The Studies of the Impact of Biomimicry and Sustainability on Urban Design </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nourhane%20Mohamed%20El%20Haridi">Nourhane Mohamed El Haridi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mostafa%20El%20Arabi"> Mostafa El Arabi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20El%20Sayad"> Zeyad El Sayad </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Biomimicry is defined, by Benyus the natural sciences writer, as imitating or taking inspiration from nature’s forms and processes to solve human problems. Biomimicry is the conscious emulation of life’s genius. As the design community realizes the tremendous impact human constructions have on the world, environmental designers look to new approaches like biomimicry to advance sustainable design. Building leading the declaration made by biomimicry scientists that a full imitation of nature engages form, ecosystem, and process; this paper uses a logic approach to interpret human and environmental wholeness. Designers would benefit from both integrating social theory with environmental thinking and from combining their substantive skills with techniques for getting sustainable biomimic urban design. Integrating biomimicryʹs “Life’s Principles” into a built environment process model will make biomimicry more accessible and thus more widely accepted throughout the industry, and the sustainability of all species will benefit. The Biomimicry Guild hypothesizes the incorporation of these principles, called Lifeʹs Principles, increase the likelihood of sustainability for a respective design, and make it more likely that the design will have a greater impact on sustainability for future generations of all species as mentioned by Benyus in her book. This thesis utilizes Life’s Principles as a foundation for a design process model intended for application on built environment projects at various scales. This paper takes a look at the importance of the integration of biomimicry in urban design to get more sustainable cities and better life, by analyzing the principles of both sustainability and biomimicry, and applying these ideas on futuristic or existing cities to make a biomimic sustainable city more healthier and more conductive to life, and get a better biomimic urban design. A group of experts, architects, biologists, scientists, economists and ecologists should work together to face all the financial and designing difficulties, to have better solutions and good innovative ideas for biomimic sustainable urban design, it is not the only solution, but it is one of the best studies for a better future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomimicry" title="biomimicry">biomimicry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=built%20environment" title=" built environment"> built environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20design" title=" urban design"> urban design</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25384/the-studies-of-the-impact-of-biomimicry-and-sustainability-on-urban-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25384.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">522</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> The Role of ICTS in Improving the Quality of Public Spaces in Large Cities of the Third World</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ayat%20Ayman%20Abdelaziz%20Ibrahim%20Amayem">Ayat Ayman Abdelaziz Ibrahim Amayem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Abdel-Salam"> Hassan Abdel-Salam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20El-Sayad"> Zeyad El-Sayad</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, ICTs have spread extensively in everyday life in an unprecedented way. A great attention is paid to the ICTs while ignoring the social aspect. With the immersive invasion of internet as well as smart phones’ applications and digital social networking, people become more socially connected through virtual spaces instead of meeting in physical public spaces. Thus, this paper aims to find the ways of implementing ICTs in public spaces to regain their status as attractive places for people, incite meetings in real life and create sustainable lively city centers. One selected example of urban space in the city center of Alexandria is selected for the study. Alexandria represents a large metropolitan city subjected to rapid transformation. Improving the quality of its public spaces will have great effects on the whole well-being of the city. The major roles that ICTs can play in the public space are: culture and art, education, planning and design, games and entertainment, and information and communication. Based on this classification various examples and proposals of ICTs interventions in public spaces are presented and analyzed to encourage good old fashioned social interaction by creating the New Social Public Place of this Digital Era. The paper will adopt methods such as questionnaire for evaluating the people’s willingness to accept the idea of using ICTs in public spaces, their needs and their proposals for an attractive place; the technique of observation to understand the people behavior and their movement through the space and finally will present an experimental design proposal for the selected urban space. Accordingly, this study will help to find design principles that can be adopted in the design of future public spaces to meet the needs of the digital era’s users with the new concepts of social life respecting the rules of place-making. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandria%20sustainable%20city%20center" title="Alexandria sustainable city center">Alexandria sustainable city center</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20place-making" title=" digital place-making"> digital place-making</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ICTs" title=" ICTs"> ICTs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20interaction" title=" social interaction"> social interaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20networking" title=" social networking"> social networking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20places" title=" urban places"> urban places</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32045/the-role-of-icts-in-improving-the-quality-of-public-spaces-in-large-cities-of-the-third-world" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/32045.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">420</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">11</span> Investigation of the Prevalence, Phenotypes, and Risk Factors Associated with Demodex Infestation and Its Relationship with Acne</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sina%20Alimohammadi">Sina Alimohammadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahnaz%20Banihashemi"> Mahnaz Banihashemi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Poursharif"> Maryam Poursharif</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Demodex is a mandatory parasite of pilosebaceous. D. folliculorum lives as a single parasite or as a number of parasites in hair follicles, and D. brevis as a single parasite living in sebaceous glands. Transmission of Demodex from one person to another requires direct skin contact; it also has a greater density in the forehead, cheeks, nose, and nasolabial folds. Demodex can cause some clinical symptoms such as follicular pityriasis, rosacea-like demodicosis, postural folliculitis, papules, seborrheic dermatitis, blepharitis, dermatitis around the lips, and hyperpigmented spots. In this study, the prevalence of Demodex species in patients referred to the dermatology department of Sayad Shirazi Hospital Gorgan, Iran, in the years 2019-2020 was investigated. Material and Methods: The study population consisted of 242 samples taken from the people referred to the dermatology department of Sayad Shirazi Hospital during the years 2019-2020, which were sampled by adhesive tape. All of the participants completed the questionnaires. The samples were examined microscopically for the presence of Demodex. Results: Out of 242 participants, 67 (27.68%) were infected with Demodex. Most cases of infection were observed in the group of 21 to 30 years (28 people; 11.57%) and then in the group of 31 to 40 years (21 people; 8.67%). Also, in the group of people under 10 years and over 60 years, no positive cases (0%) of Demodex were observed in microscopic examinations. Out of 11 variables, there was a statistically significant difference in relation to the three variables of age (P = 0.000003), use of cleansing solutions (P = 0.002), and the presence of acne (P = 0.0013). Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it was found that the incidence of Demodex in one group of acne patients is higher than in others, which emphasizes the possible role of Demodex in the pathogenesis of acne. In this study, there was an inverse relationship between the incidence of Demodex and the use of skin cleansing solutions. Also, the prevalence of Demodex is higher in the group of 20-30 years, and its prevalence does not increase with age. Due to the possibility of drug resistance in the future, regular studies on genotyping and drug resistance are recommended. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acne" title="acne">acne</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=demodex" title=" demodex"> demodex</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mite" title=" mite"> mite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prevalence" title=" prevalence"> prevalence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164573/investigation-of-the-prevalence-phenotypes-and-risk-factors-associated-with-demodex-infestation-and-its-relationship-with-acne" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164573.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">89</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Optimal Portfolio Selection under Treynor Ratio Using Genetic Algorithms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Imad%20Zeyad%20Ramadan">Imad Zeyad Ramadan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper a genetic algorithm was developed to construct the optimal portfolio based on the Treynor method. This indicates that the GA reduced the risk on the investor as it choose some companies with positive risks (goes with the market) and some with negative risks (goes against the market). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oOptimization" title="oOptimization">oOptimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genetic%20algorithm" title=" genetic algorithm"> genetic algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=portfolio%20selection" title=" portfolio selection"> portfolio selection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Treynor%20method" title=" Treynor method"> Treynor method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43388/optimal-portfolio-selection-under-treynor-ratio-using-genetic-algorithms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43388.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">449</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Study of Frequency and Distribution of Skin Ionocytes in Caspian Sea Zander Larvae during Acclimation to Different Salinity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohaddeseh%20Ahmadnezhad">Mohaddeseh Ahmadnezhad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shahrbano%20Oryan"> Shahrbano Oryan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Bahmani"> Mahmoud Bahmani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammadd%20Sayad%20Bourani"> Mohammadd Sayad Bourani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Changes in abundance and size of skin ionocytes were investigated in two larval stage of Caspian sea zander, Sander lucioperca, before and after yolk sac absorption, at 96h after transfer from fresh water (FW; <0.5‰) to 7‰ (estuary) and 12‰ (Caspian sea water=CW) salinity. In order to deliver water from resources to the users, many procedures should be taken by the water engineers. One of the main procedures to deliver water to the community is by designing pressurizer pipe networks for water. The main aim of this work is to calculate the water demand of a small town and then design a simple water network to distribute water resources among the town with the smallest losses. Literature has been mentioned to cover the main point related to water distribution. Moreover, the methodology has introduced two approaches to solve the research problem, one by the iterative method of Hardy-cross and the other by water software Pipe Flow. The results have introduced two main designs to satisfy the same research requirements. Finally, the researchers have concluded that the use of water software provides more abilities and options for water engineers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=looping%20pipe%20networks" title="looping pipe networks">looping pipe networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardy%20cross%20networks%20accuracy" title=" hardy cross networks accuracy"> hardy cross networks accuracy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relative%20error%20of%20hardy%20cross%20method" title=" relative error of hardy cross method"> relative error of hardy cross method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156922/comparison-between-hardy-cross-method-and-water-software-to-solve-a-pipe-networking-design-problem-for-a-small-town" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156922.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">164</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> Analysis on Heat Transfer in Solar Parabolic Trough Collectors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zaid%20H.%20Yaseen">Zaid H. There are various types of solar collectors, and parabolic trough collectors (PTCs) are common among these types. In PTCs, a mirror is used to direct the incident radiation on an absorber tube to utilize the heat in power generation. In this work, a PTC covered with a glass tube is presented and analyzed. Results showed that temperatures of 510℃ for steam can be reached for certain parameters. The work also showed the viability of using Benzene as the working fluid in the absorber tube. Also, some analysis regarding changing the absorber’s tube diameter and the efficiency of the solar collector was demonstrated in this work. The effect of changing the heat transfer correlations for the convection phenomena of the working fluid was illustrated. In fact, two heat transfer correlations, the Dittus-Boelter and Gnielinski correlations, were used, and the outcomes showed a resemblance in the results for the maximum attainable temperature in the working fluid. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=absorber%20tube" title="absorber tube">absorber tube</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glass%20tube" title=" glass tube"> glass tube</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=incident%20radiation" title=" incident radiation"> incident radiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parabolic%20trough%20collector" title=" parabolic trough collector"> parabolic trough collector</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194511/analysis-on-heat-transfer-in-solar-parabolic-trough-collectors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194511.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">9</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> Enhancing Dispute Resolution in Construction: The Potential Contributions of Dispute Boards and the Roadblock to Vaster Adoption</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20M.%20Abdelgawad">Zeyad M. This complexity requires diverse and flexible alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques. Dispute boards (DB) are globally recognized as effective ADR methods, especially since their introduction to World Bank projects in 1995. Despite their advantages, dispute boards remain underutilized in Egypt aside from the World Bank-financed projects due to several misconceptions. The study reveals the perceptions hindering the wider adoption of dispute boards in the Egyptian construction industry through detailed literature review and interviews with the experts. The perceptions encompassed the lack of awareness and understanding of dispute boards and implementation procedures, misconceptions about the costs associated with implementing dispute boards and the impact on the bid prices, the common orientation of resolving disputes internally and avoid resorting to external parties to preserve the long-term relationship, and lack of trust in the ability of the dispute boards to positively affect the project performance. In response to these identified misconceptions, a proposed alternative draft to the FIDIC 2017 clause twenty-one “Disputes and Arbitration” is provided, offering a way for a practical application of the dispute boards within the Egyptian context. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=alternative%20dispute%20resolution" title="alternative dispute resolution">alternative dispute resolution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=claim%20management%20system" title=" claim management system"> claim management system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dispute%20boards" title=" dispute boards"> dispute boards</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Egyptian%20construction%20industry" title=" Egyptian construction industry"> Egyptian construction industry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FIDIC" title=" FIDIC"> FIDIC</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/191263/enhancing-dispute-resolution-in-construction-the-potential-contributions-of-dispute-boards-and-the-roadblock-to-vaster-adoption" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/191263.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">21</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> The Impact of Civilian Syrian War on Human Wellbeing as Inflected by Depression General Status Among Patients Treated in Royal Medical Services, Jordan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20Suleiman%20Bataineh">Zeyad Suleiman Bataineh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: civilian wars are associated with severe humanitarian effects that include loss of individuals and properties. The calculations are divided into two parts, surface, and core. The oxygenated (001)-(1×1) facet that expands with larger sizes of nanocrystals is investigated to determine the rule of the surface in nanocrystals electronic structure. Results show that lattice constant and ionicity of the core part show decreasing order as nanocrystals grow up in size. The smallest investigated nanocrystal is 1.6% larger in lattice constant and 131.05% larger in ionicity than the converged value of largest investigated nanocrystal. Increasing nanocrystals size also resulted in an increase of core cohesive energy (absolute value), increase of core energy gap, and increase of core valence. The surface states are found mostly non-degenerated because of the effect of surface discontinuity and oxygen atoms. Valence bandwidth is wider on the surface due to splitting and oxygen atoms. The method also shows fluctuations in the converged energy gap, valence bandwidth and cohesive energy of core part of nanocrystals duo to shape variation. The present work suggests the addition of ionicity and lattice constant to the quantities that are affected by quantum confinement phenomenon. The method of the present model has threefold results; it can be used to approach the electronic structure of crystals bulk, surface, and nanocrystals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=InP" title="InP">InP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocrystals%20core" title=" nanocrystals core"> nanocrystals core</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ionicity" title=" ionicity"> ionicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hartree-Fock%20method" title=" Hartree-Fock method"> Hartree-Fock method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=large%20unit%20cell" title=" large unit cell"> large unit cell</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2810/inp-nanocrystals-core-and-surface-electronic-structure-from-ab-initio-calculations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2810.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">399</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Dynamic Process Model for Designing Smart Spaces Based on Context-Awareness and Computational Methods Principles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heba%20M.%20Jahin">Heba M. Also, by serving the information used proactively. This paper suggests a dynamic framework through the architectural design process of the space based on the principles of computational methods and context-awareness principles to help in creating a field of changes and modifications. It generates possibilities, concerns about the physical, structural and user contexts. This framework is concerned with five main processes: gathering and analyzing data to generate smart design scenarios, parameters, and attributes; which will be transformed by coding into four types of models. Furthmore, connecting those models together in the interaction model which will represent the context-awareness system. Then, transforming that model into a virtual and ambient environment which represents the physical and real environments, to act as a linkage phase between the users and their activities taking place in that smart space . Finally, the feedback phase from users of that environment to be sure that the design of that smart space fulfill their needs. Therefore, the generated design process will help in designing smarts spaces that can be adapted and controlled to answer the users’ defined goals, needs, and activity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20methods" title="computational methods">computational methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=context-awareness" title=" context-awareness"> context-awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=design%20process" title=" design process"> design process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20spaces" title=" smart spaces"> smart spaces</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56805/dynamic-process-model-for-designing-smart-spaces-based-on-context-awareness-and-computational-methods-principles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56805.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">331</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2</span> Low Overhead Dynamic Channel Selection with Cluster-Based Spatial-Temporal Station Reporting in Wireless Networks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20Abdelmageid">Zeyad Abdelmageid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xianbin%20Wang"> Xianbin Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Choosing the operational channel for a WLAN access point (AP) in WLAN networks has been a static channel assignment process initiated by the user during the deployment process of the AP, which fails to cope with the dynamic conditions of the assigned channel at the station side afterward. However, the dramatically growing number of Wi-Fi APs and stations operating in the unlicensed band has led to dynamic, distributed, and often severe interference. This highlights the urgent need for the AP to dynamically select the best overall channel of operation for the basic service set (BSS) by considering the distributed and changing channel conditions at all stations. Consequently, dynamic channel selection algorithms which consider feedback from the station side have been developed. Despite the significant performance improvement, existing channel selection algorithms suffer from very high feedback overhead. Feedback latency from the STAs, due to the high overhead, can cause the eventually selected channel to no longer be optimal for operation due to the dynamic sharing nature of the unlicensed band. This has inspired us to develop our own dynamic channel selection algorithm with reduced overhead through the proposed low-overhead, cluster-based station reporting mechanism. The main idea behind the cluster-based station reporting is the observation that STAs which are very close to each other tend to have very similar channel conditions. Instead of requesting each STA to report on every candidate channel while causing high overhead, the AP divides STAs into clusters then assigns each STA in each cluster one channel to report feedback on. With the proper design of the cluster based reporting, the AP does not lose any information about the channel conditions at the station side while reducing feedback overhead. The simulation results show equal performance and, at times, better performance with a fraction of the overhead. We believe that this algorithm has great potential in designing future dynamic channel selection algorithms with low overhead. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20assignment" title="channel assignment">channel assignment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wi-Fi%20networks" title=" Wi-Fi networks"> Wi-Fi networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clustering" title=" clustering"> clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DBSCAN" title=" DBSCAN"> DBSCAN</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=overhead" title=" overhead"> overhead</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149614/low-overhead-dynamic-channel-selection-with-cluster-based-spatial-temporal-station-reporting-in-wireless-networks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149614.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1</span> Anti -proliferative and Apoptotic Effects of Selected Saudi Herbs from the Rhamnaceae, Polygonaceae, and Apocynaceae Families Against Various Cancer Cell Lines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Allulu%20Yousef%20Alturki">Allulu Yousef Alturki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raghad%20Abdullah%20Alshafi"> Raghad Abdullah Alshafi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sara%20Abdulaziz%20Alghashem"> Sara Abdulaziz Alghashem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahar%20Saleh%20Alghamdi"> Sahar Saleh Alghamdi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rasha%20Saad%20Suliman"> Rasha Saad Suliman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20Alehaideb"> Zeyad Alehaideb</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rizwan%20Ali"> Rizwan Ali</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cancer is recognized as a worldwide public health concern. Therefore, there is a continuous quest to discover new effective medications with less side-effects. In recent years, researchers have shown an increased interest in medicinal plants as several plant species have shown promising biological activities. Thus, we seek to investigate three medicinal herbs that are commonly-found in the Middle Easternregion and yet have not been explored in depth, including plants belonging to the Rhamnaceae, Polygonaceae, and Apocynaceaeplant families. Initially, we investigated using three types of cancer cell lines for breast, colorectal, and liver cancers. We performed high Content Imaging (HCI)-Apoptosis Assay and ApoTox-Glo™ Triplex Assay on KAIMRC2 and HCT8 cell lines. The highest activity of HCI-Apoptosis Assay was with Calligonumcomosum and Ziziphusnummularia in ethanol, followed by Calotropis procera and Ziziphusnummularia in ethyl acetate. The IC50values for the families of Rhamnaceae, Polygonaceae, and Apocynaceae in HepG2 and HCT8 cell lines ranged from 0.089 to 9.84mg/mL and 0.080to 15.08mg/mL, respectively. Further screening was conducted on an additional two cell lines, namely the MDA-MB-231 and KAIMRC2, for selected seven extracts with the highest activity having IC50values ranged from 0.058 to0.51mg/mL and 0.029 to0.19mg/mL, respectively. Continuous scientific investigations to isolate and characterize the potent bioactive phytochemical(s) are warranted.
