Understanding God's nature is foundational to the Christian faith, as it shapes the believer's relationship with Him and informs their worldview.<br><br><b>Attributes of God</b><br><br>1. <b>Omnipotence</b>: God is all-powerful, possessing unlimited authority and capability. This is evident in His creation of the universe and His sovereign control over all things. In <a href="/genesis/1.htm">Genesis 1:1</a>, we read, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." His power is further affirmed in <a href="/jeremiah/32-17.htm">Jeremiah 32:17</a>, "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too difficult for You."<br><br>2. <b>Omniscience</b>: God is all-knowing, with perfect knowledge of past, present, and future events. <a href="/psalms/147-5.htm">Psalm 147:5</a> declares, "Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit." God's omniscience assures believers that He is aware of their circumstances and needs.<br><br>3. <b>Omnipresence</b>: God is present everywhere at all times. This attribute is beautifully expressed in <a href="/psalms/139-7.htm">Psalm 139:7-10</a>, "Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle by the farthest sea, even there Your hand will guide me; Your right hand will hold me fast."<br><br>4. <b>Eternality</b>: God is eternal, having no beginning or end. He exists outside of time and is unchanging. <a href="/psalms/90-2.htm">Psalm 90:2</a> states, "Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God."<br><br>5. <b>Immutability</b>: God is unchanging in His nature, character, and promises. <a href="/malachi/3-6.htm">Malachi 3:6</a> affirms, "For I, the LORD, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed."<br><br>6. <b>Holiness</b>: God is perfectly holy, set apart from sin and impurity. His holiness is a defining attribute, as seen in <a href="/isaiah/6-3.htm">Isaiah 6:3</a>, where the seraphim call out, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth."<br><br>7. <b>Love</b>: God's nature is characterized by perfect love. 1 <a href="/john/4-8.htm">John 4:8</a> declares, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." His love is demonstrated supremely in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for humanity's redemption (<a href="/john/3-16.htm">John 3:16</a>).<br><br>8. <b>Justice</b>: God is just and righteous, ensuring that His judgments are fair and equitable. <a href="/deuteronomy/32-4.htm">Deuteronomy 32:4</a> describes Him as "The Rock, His work is perfect, for all His ways are just. A God of faithfulness without injustice, righteous and upright is He."<br><br>9. <b>Mercy and Grace</b>: God is merciful and gracious, offering forgiveness and unmerited favor to sinners. <a href="/ephesians/2-4.htm">Ephesians 2:4-5</a> highlights this, "But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved."<br><br><b>The Trinity</b><br><br>The Christian doctrine of the Trinity is a profound mystery that describes God as one Being in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each Person is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, yet there is only one God.
