Behold<MH2009>, three<MH7969> more<MH5750> kings<MH4428> are going to arise<MH5975> <a href="#fn">[c]</a>in Persia<MH6539>. Then a fourth<MH7243> will gain<MH6238> far<MH1419> more<MH1419> riches<MH6239> than<MH4480> all<MH3605> of them; as soon as he becomes strong<MH2393> through his riches<MH6239>, <a href="#fn">[d]</a>he will stir<MH5782> up<MH5782> the entire<MH3605> empire against the realm<MH4438> of <a href="#fn">[e]</a>Greece<MH3120>. <a href="/daniel/11-3.htm">3</a>And a mighty<MH1368> king<MH4428> will arise<MH5975>, and he will rule<MH4910> with great<MH7227a> authority<MH4474> and do<MH6213a> as he pleases<MH7522>. <a href="/daniel/11-4.htm">4</a>But as soon as he has arisen<MH5975>, his kingdom<MH4438> will be broken<MH7665> up<MH7665> and parceled<MH2673> out<MH2673> toward the four<MH702> <a href="#fn">[f]</a>points<MH7307> of the compass<MH8064>, though not to his own descendants<MH319>, nor<MH3808> according to his authority<MH4915a> which<MH834> he wielded<MH4910>, because<MH3588> his sovereignty<MH4438> will be removed<MH5428> and given to others<MH312> besides<MH4480, 905> <a href="#fn">[g]</a>them. <a href="/daniel/11-5.htm">5</a>“Then the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> will grow<MH2388> strong<MH2388>, <a href="#fn">[h]</a>along with one of his princes<MH8269> <a href="#fn">[i]</a>who will gain<MH2388> ascendancy<MH2388> over<MH5921> him and rule<MH4910>; his domain<MH4475> will be a great<MH7227a> realm<MH4475> indeed. <a href="/daniel/11-6.htm">6</a>And after<MH7093> some years<MH8141> they will form<MH2266> an<MH2266> alliance<MH2266>, and the daughter<MH1323> of the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> will come<MH935> to the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828> to reach<MH6213a> an agreement<MH4339>. But she will not keep<MH6113> her <a href="#fn">[j]</a>position<MH2220> of power<MH3581b>, nor<MH3808> will he remain<MH5975> with his <a href="#fn">[k]</a>power<MH2220>, but she will be given<MH5414> up<MH5414>, along with those who brought<MH935> her in<MH935> and the one who fathered<MH3205> her as well as he who supported<MH2388> her in those times<MH6256>. <a href="/daniel/11-7.htm">7</a>But one of the <a href="#fn">[l]</a>descendants<MH5342> of her line<MH8328> will arise<MH5975> in his place<MH3653b>, and he will come<MH935> against<MH413> their army<MH2428> and enter<MH935> the fortress<MH4581> of the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828>, and he will deal<MH6213a> with them and prevail<MH2388>. <a href="/daniel/11-8.htm">8</a>And he will also<MH1571> take<MH935> into captivity<MH7628b> to Egypt<MH4714> their gods<MH430> with their cast<MH5257a> metal<MH5257a> images<MH5257a> and their precious<MH2532> vessels<MH3627> of silver<MH3701> and gold<MH2091>, and he on his part<MH1931> will <a href="#fn">[m]</a>refrain<MH5975> from attacking the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828> for some years<MH8141>. <a href="/daniel/11-9.htm">9</a>Then <a href="#fn">[n]</a>the latter will enter<MH935> the realm<MH4438> of the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045>, but will return<MH7725> to his own land<MH127>. <a href="/daniel/11-10.htm">10</a>“And his sons<MH1121> will mobilize<MH1624> and assemble<MH622> a multitude<MH1995> of great<MH7227a> forces<MH2428>; and one of them will keep<MH935> on coming<MH935> and overflow<MH7857> and pass<MH5674a> through<MH5674a>, so that he may <a href="#fn">[o]</a>again<MH7725> wage<MH1624> war<MH1624> up to his fortress<MH4581>. <a href="/daniel/11-11.htm">11</a>And the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> will be<MH4843> enraged<MH4843> and go<MH3318> out<MH3318> and fight<MH3898a> <a href="#fn">[p]</a>with the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828>. Then the latter will raise<MH5975> a great<MH7227a> multitude<MH1995>, but that multitude<MH1995> will be handed<MH5414, 3027> over<MH5414> to <a href="#fn">[q]</a>the former. <a href="/daniel/11-12.htm">12</a>When the multitude<MH1995> is carried<MH5375> away, his heart<MH3824> will <a href="#fn">[r]</a>be<MH7311> haughty<MH7311>, and he will cause tens<MH7239> of thousands<MH7239> to fall<MH5307>; yet he will not prevail<MH5810>. <a href="/daniel/11-13.htm">13</a>For the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828> will again<MH7725> raise<MH5975> a greater<MH7227a> multitude<MH1995> than<MH4480> the former<MH7223>, and <a href="#fn">[s]</a>after<MH7093> an interval<MH6256> of<MH6256> some<MH6256> years<MH8141> he will <a href="#fn">[t]</a>press<MH935> on with a great<MH1419> army<MH2428> and much<MH7227a> equipment<MH7399>. <a href="/daniel/11-14.htm">14</a>“Now in those<MH1992a> times<MH6256> many<MH7227a> will rise<MH5975> up against<MH5921> the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045>; the violent<MH6530> ones<MH1121> among your people<MH5971a> will also raise<MH5375> themselves up<MH5375> to fulfill<MH5975> the vision<MH2377>, but they will <a href="#fn">[u]</a>fall<MH3782> down<MH3782>. <a href="/daniel/11-15.htm">15</a>Then the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828> will come<MH935>, pile<MH8210> up<MH8210> an assault<MH5550> ramp<MH5550>, and capture<MH3920> a well-fortified<MH4013> city<MH5892b>; and the forces<MH2220> of the South<MH5045> will not stand<MH5975> their ground, not even <a href="#fn">[v]</a>their choicest<MH4005> troops<MH5971a>, for there<MH369> will<MH369> be<MH369> no<MH369> strength<MH3581b> to make<MH5975> a<MH5975> stand<MH5975>. <a href="/daniel/11-16.htm">16</a>But he who comes<MH935> against<MH413> him will do<MH6213a> as he pleases<MH7522>, and no<MH369> one<MH369> will be able to withstand<MH6440, 5975> him; he will also stay<MH5975> for a time in the <a href="#fn">[w]</a>Beautiful<MH6643a> Land<MH776>, with destruction<MH3617> in his hand<MH3027>. <a href="/daniel/11-17.htm">17</a>And he will set<MH7760> his <a href="#fn">[x]</a>mind<MH6440> on coming<MH935> with the power<MH8633> of his entire<MH3605> kingdom<MH4438>, <a href="#fn">[y]</a>bringing with him <a href="#fn">[z]</a>a proposal<MH3476> of<MH3476> peace<MH3476> which he will put<MH6213a> into<MH6213a> effect<MH6213a>; he will also give<MH5414> him the daughter<MH1323> of women<MH802> to ruin<MH7843> it. But she will not take<MH5975> a<MH5975> stand<MH5975> for him or be <a href="#fn">[aa]</a>on his side. <a href="/daniel/11-18.htm">18</a>Then he will turn<MH7725> his face<MH6440> to the coastlands<MH339> and capture<MH3920> many<MH7227a>. But a commander<MH7101> will put<MH7673a> a<MH7673a> stop<MH7673a> to<MH7673a> his taunting<MH2781> against him; moreover<MH1115>, he will repay<MH7725> him for his taunting<MH2781>. <a href="/daniel/11-19.htm">19</a>So he will turn<MH7725> his face<MH6440> toward the fortresses<MH4581> of his own land<MH776>, but he will stumble<MH3782> and fall<MH5307> and not be found<MH4672>. <a href="/daniel/11-20.htm">20</a>“Then in his place<MH3653b> one will arise<MH5975> who will allow an <a href="#fn">[ab]</a>oppressor<MH5065> to pass<MH5674a> through<MH5674a> the <a href="#fn">[ac]</a>Jewel<MH1925> of his kingdom<MH4438>; yet within a few<MH259> days<MH3117> he will be broken<MH7665>, though not in anger<MH639> nor<MH3808> in battle<MH4421>. <a href="/daniel/11-21.htm">21</a>And in his place<MH3653b> a despicable<MH959> person will arise<MH5975>, on whom the majesty<MH1935> of kingship<MH4438> has not been conferred<MH5414>; but he will come<MH935> in a time of tranquility<MH7962> and seize<MH2388> the kingdom<MH4438> by intrigue<MH2519>. <a href="/daniel/11-22.htm">22</a>And the overflowing<MH7858> forces<MH2220> will be flooded<MH7857> away<MH7857> from him and smashed<MH7665>, and also<MH1571> the prince<MH5057> of the covenant<MH1285>. <a href="/daniel/11-23.htm">23</a>After<MH4480> an alliance<MH2266> is<MH2266> made<MH2266> with him he will practice<MH6213a> deception<MH4820>, and he will go<MH5927> up<MH5927> and gain<MH6105a> power<MH6105a> with a small<MH4592> force of people<MH1471>. <a href="/daniel/11-24.htm">24</a><a href="#fn">[ad]</a>In a time<MH7962> of<MH7962> tranquility<MH7962> he will enter<MH935> the richest<MH4924a> parts of the <a href="#fn">[ae]</a>realm<MH4082>, and he will accomplish<MH6213a> what<MH834> his fathers<MH1> did not, nor<MH3808> his <a href="#fn">[af]</a>ancestors<MH1>; he will distribute<MH967> plunder<MH961>, spoils<MH7998>, and possessions<MH7399> among them, and he will devise<MH2803> his schemes<MH4284> against<MH5921> strongholds<MH4013>, but only for a time<MH6256>. <a href="/daniel/11-25.htm">25</a>And he will stir<MH5782> up<MH5782> his strength<MH3581b> and <a href="#fn">[ag]</a>courage<MH3824> against<MH5921> the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> with a large<MH1419> army<MH2428>; so the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> will mobilize<MH1624> an extremely<MH5704, 3966> large<MH1419> and mighty<MH6099> army<MH2428> for war<MH4421>; but he will not stand<MH5975>, because<MH3588> schemes<MH4284> will be devised<MH2803> against<MH5921> him. <a href="/daniel/11-26.htm">26</a>Those who eat<MH398> his choice<MH6598> food<MH6598> will <a href="#fn">[ah]</a>destroy<MH7665> him, and his army<MH2428> will <a href="#fn">[ai]</a>overflow<MH7857>, but many<MH7227a> will fall<MH5307> down<MH5307> slain<MH2491a>. <a href="/daniel/11-27.htm">27</a>As for both<MH8147> kings<MH4428>, their hearts<MH3824> will be intent on evil<MH7489a>, and they will speak<MH1696> lies<MH3577> to each other at the same<MH259> table<MH7979>; but it will not succeed<MH6743b>, because<MH3588> the end<MH7093> is still<MH5750> to come at the appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150>. <a href="/daniel/11-28.htm">28</a>Then he will return<MH7725> to his land<MH776> with much<MH1419> <a href="#fn">[aj]</a>plunder<MH7399>; but his heart<MH3824> will be set against<MH5921> the holy<MH6944> covenant<MH1285>, and he will take<MH6213a> action<MH6213a> and then return<MH7725> to his own land<MH776>. <a href="/daniel/11-29.htm">29</a>“At the appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150> he will return<MH7725> and come<MH935> into the South<MH5045>, but <a href="#fn">[ak]</a>this last<MH314> time<MH314> it will not turn<MH1961> out<MH1961> the way it did before<MH7223>. <a href="/daniel/11-30.htm">30</a>For ships<MH6716a> of <a href="#fn">[al]</a>Kittim<MH3794> will come<MH935> against him; therefore he will withdraw<MH3512a> in<MH3512a> fear<MH3512a> and will return<MH7725> and curse<MH2194> the holy<MH6944> covenant<MH1285> and take<MH6213a> action<MH6213a>; so he will come<MH7725> back<MH7725> and pay<MH995> attention<MH995> to those who abandon<MH5800a> the holy<MH6944> covenant<MH1285>. <a href="/daniel/11-31.htm">31</a>Forces<MH2220> from him will arise<MH5975>, desecrate<MH2490c> the sanctuary<MH4720> fortress<MH4581>, and do<MH5493> away<MH5493> with<MH5493> the regular<MH8548> sacrifice<MH8548>. And they will set<MH5414> up<MH5414> the abomination<MH8251> <a href="#fn">[am]</a>of desolation<MH8074>. <a href="/daniel/11-32.htm">32</a>And by smooth<MH2514> words he will <a href="#fn">[an]</a>turn<MH2610> to<MH2610> godlessness<MH2610> those who act<MH7561> wickedly<MH7561> toward the covenant<MH1285>, but the people<MH5971a> who know<MH3045> their God<MH430> will be strong<MH2388> and take<MH6213a> action<MH6213a>. <a href="/daniel/11-33.htm">33</a>And <a href="#fn">[ao]</a>those who have<MH7919a> insight<MH7919a> among the people<MH5971a> will give<MH995> understanding<MH995> to the many<MH7227a>; yet they will fall<MH3782> by sword<MH2719> and by flame<MH3852>, by captivity<MH7628b> and by plunder<MH961> for many days<MH3117>. <a href="/daniel/11-34.htm">34</a>Now when they fall<MH3782> they will be granted<MH5826> a little<MH4592> help<MH5828>, and many<MH7227a> will join<MH3867a> with them in hypocrisy<MH2519>. <a href="/daniel/11-35.htm">35</a>And some<MH4480> of <a href="#fn">[ap]</a>those who have<MH7919a> insight<MH7919a> will fall<MH3782>, to refine<MH6884>, purge<MH1305>, and <a href="#fn">[aq]</a>cleanse<MH3835a> them until<MH5704> the end<MH7093> time<MH6256>; because<MH3588> it is still<MH5750> to come at the appointed<MH4150> time<MH4150>. <a href="/daniel/11-36.htm">36</a>“Then the king<MH4428> will do<MH6213a> as he pleases<MH7522>, and he will exalt<MH7311> himself and boast<MH1431> against<MH5921> every<MH3605> god<MH410> and will speak<MH1696> <a href="#fn">[ar]</a>dreadful<MH6381> things<MH6381> against<MH5921> the God<MH410> of gods<MH410>; and he will be<MH6743b> successful<MH6743b> until<MH5704> the indignation<MH2195> is finished<MH3615>, because<MH3588> that which is determined<MH2782> will be done<MH6213a>. <a href="/daniel/11-37.htm">37</a>And he will show<MH995> no<MH3808> regard<MH995> for the <a href="#fn">[as]</a>gods<MH430> of his fathers<MH1> or for the <a href="#fn">[at]</a>desire<MH2532> of women<MH802>, nor<MH3808> will he show<MH995> regard<MH995> for any<MH3605> other god<MH433>; for he will boast<MH1431> against<MH5921> them all<MH3605>. <a href="/daniel/11-38.htm">38</a>But <a href="#fn">[au]</a>instead<MH5921, 3653b> he will honor<MH3513> a god<MH433> of fortresses<MH4581>, a god<MH433> whom<MH834> his fathers<MH1> did not know<MH3045>; he will honor<MH3513> him with gold<MH2091>, silver<MH3701>, precious<MH3368> stones<MH68>, and treasures<MH2536b>. <a href="/daniel/11-39.htm">39</a>And he will take<MH6213a> action<MH6213a> against the strongest<MH4581> of fortresses<MH4013> with the help of a foreign<MH5236> god<MH433>; he will give<MH7235a> great<MH7235a> honor<MH3519b> to <a href="#fn">[av]</a>those who<MH834> acknowledge<MH5234> him and will make them rulers<MH4910> over the many<MH7227a>, and will parcel<MH2505a> out<MH2505a> land<MH127> for a price<MH4242>. <a href="/daniel/11-40.htm">40</a>“And at the end<MH7093> time<MH6256> the king<MH4428> of the South<MH5045> will wage<MH5055> war<MH5055> with him, and the king<MH4428> of the North<MH6828> will storm<MH8175a> against<MH5921> him with chariots<MH7393>, horsemen<MH6571b>, and with many<MH7227a> ships<MH591>; and he will enter<MH935> countries<MH776>, overflow<MH7857> them, and pass<MH5674a> through<MH5674a>. <a href="/daniel/11-41.htm">41</a>He will also enter<MH935> the <a href="#fn">[aw]</a>Beautiful<MH6643a> Land<MH776>, and many<MH7227a> countries will fall<MH3782>; but these<MH428> will be rescued<MH4422> out of his hand<MH3027>: Edom<MH112b>, Moab<MH4124>, and the foremost<MH7225> of the sons<MH1121> of Ammon<MH5983>. <a href="/daniel/11-42.htm">42</a>Then he will reach<MH7971> out<MH7971> with his hand<MH3027> against other countries<MH776>, and the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> will not escape<MH1961, 6413>. <a href="/daniel/11-43.htm">43</a>But he will <a href="#fn">[ax]</a>gain<MH4910> control<MH4910> over the hidden<MH4362> treasures<MH4362> of gold<MH2091> and silver<MH3701>, and over all<MH3605> the precious<MH2536b> things<MH2536b> of Egypt<MH4714>; and Libyans<MH3864> and Ethiopians<MH3569> will follow at his <a href="#fn">[ay]</a>heels<MH4703>. <a href="/daniel/11-44.htm">44</a>But rumors<MH8052> from the East<MH4217> and from the North<MH6828> will terrify<MH926> him, and he will go<MH3318> out<MH3318> with great<MH1419> wrath<MH2534> to eliminate<MH8045> and <a href="#fn">[az]</a>annihilate<MH2763a> many<MH7227a>. <a href="/daniel/11-45.htm">45</a>And he will pitch<MH5193> the tents<MH168> of his royal<MH643> pavilion<MH643> between<MH996> the seas<MH3220> and the beautiful<MH6643a> Holy<MH6944> Mountain<MH2022>;
