Her research focuses on non-state and sub-national actors in the global biodiversity governance and the potential of saline degraded lands for sustainable food production.<br> For more than 12 years she has been involved in research and practice related to sustainable development. She conducted research in Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, Germany and the Netherlands.  She has published articles, reports, book chapters and policy brief on a variety of earth system governance issues, in particular biodiversity and sustainable consumption.<br> <br> <b>Parisa G脺NE艦</b>, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture, is academic staff at Bileck 艦eyh Edebali University. She is founder and head of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Her researches are about landscape ecology, cultural landscapes, landscape restoration, watershed management, participatory planning, ecotourism planning, sustainable forest management, rural identity and sustainable development etc. She is vice-leader of working group 3 (Total value of saline ecosystems and landscapes) in the Cost action CA22144 - Sustainable use of salt-affected lands (SUSTAIN).</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Short description of the proposed topic</b>: Saline land is a special natural resource with high salt content in soil. It not only has grassland, wetland, and other types of cover but also is an important wildlife habitat. Salinisation, the accumulation of water-soluble salts in the soil, is one of the major causes of soil degradation affecting 833 million hectares of land and 1.5 billion inhabitants worldwide. However, these lands can be used by applying saline agriculture, involving soil, water and salt-tolerant crop management methods. Cultivation of salt-affected lands aids in addressing food and water security in the times of progressing climate change and population growth. As a result, there is an urgent need to create a network of research and practice and foster the sustainable use of salt-affected lands.</p> <p> </p> <p><b>Chairs for the special session:</b></p> <p>Associate Prof. Dr. Parisa G脺NE艦, Bilecik 艦eyh Edebali University, T眉rkiye<br>  </p> <p><img border="0" src="special/chair2.jpg" width="147" height="182"></p> <p>Associate Prof. Dr. P谋nar G脺LTEK陌N, D眉zce University, T眉rkiye</p> <p>P谋nar G眉ltekin, a faculty member in the Department Landscape Architecture at D眉zce University. She completed her undergraduate education  at 陌stanbul University and pursued her master's and doctoral degrees at D眉zce University. During her doctoral studies, G眉ltekin focused on landscape planning, ecotourism, landscape ecology, GIS analysis, stakeholder analysis and participatory approach contributing significantly to the field with her research. G眉ltekin began her academic career at D眉zce University. Her research interests include ecosystem services, ecotourism and recreation, rural development, and she has published numerous articles in international journals on these subjects. Additionally, she has actively participated in events such as Green Urbanism,European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools Conferences (ECLAS), International Federation of Landscape Architects World Congress (IFLA)  making substantial contributions to the scientific community. In addition to her teaching and research activities, G眉ltekin has served as an editor and reviewer for several national and international academic journals. Recognized as an inspiring educator, Assoc.
