In particular, we are interested in spontaneous symmetry breaking, i.e., situations where there are stationary measures that satisfy less symmetries than the transition rates themselves. Classical examples include the Glauber dynamics for the Ising model, where the global spin-flip symmetry is broken in dimensions $d\geq 2$ and the translation-symmetry is broken in dimension $d\geq3$. In this talk, we discuss the possibility of a spontaneous breaking of the time-symmetry, i.e., whether an interacting particle system with time-homogeneous rates can admit time-periodic behaviour. While this can easily be ruled out in finite volume, the situation is much more delicate in the thermodynamic limit. We provide a no-go theorem for short-range systems under the additional assumption of reversibility in $d=1,2$ and exhibit examples of non-degenerate interacting particle systems which do indeed exhibit spontaneous time-symmetry breaking.<div style='text-align: right;'><a href="javascript:hideAbstract('838981')">Hide</a></div></td></tr><tr class='dayName'> <td colspan=3>Thursday, Feb 20</td></tr><tr class='eventOdd'><td class='hhmm'>11:00-11:50</td><td colspan=2 class='name'><a href='display.php?&id=838987'>Financial and Actuarial Mathematics Seminar</a> (https://ucla.zoom.us/j/95287241977) </td></tr><tr class='eventLine2Odd'><td></td> <td class='speaker'>Lionel Sopgoui (Université de Paris & Imperial College London)</td><td class='title'><a href="javascript:showAbstract('838987')"><span class='title'>Pricing and hedging of climate transition risk in Credit Portfolio</span></a></td></tr><tr class='abstract'><td class='abstract' colspan=3><div class='abstract' style='display: none' id='838987'><b>Abstract.</b> The objective of this work is to quantify the impact of climate transition on credit portfolios. It is specifically about calculating, when introducing the carbon price into an economy, the distortions in the risk measures of a credit portfolio. They are contracted by firms belonging to an economy divided in sectors, driven by a dynamic and stochastic productivity (modelled as a vector autoregressive process or a multidimensional Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process), and subject to climate transition modeled using a dynamic and deterministic process representing the carbon price. The main contribution of our approach is that we propose an end-to-end methodology, starting from a transition scenario modeled by the carbon price, to the impact on different credit risk measures. It is divided into three parts. In the first part, we model the economic environment in which the companies of a portfolio of credits, all assumed unsecured, operate. In the second part, we use the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) method to determine the value of firms operating in the previously described economy. We then use this value into a structural credit model. This allows us to calculate different risk measures of a credit portfolio: the probability of default of each firm, as well as the expected and unexpected losses. In the third part, the loans can be secured. Consequently, the risk measures also depend on the value of the collateral, which, like the lending companies, undergoes the climate transition. In this context, we propose modeling two examples of collateral: one financial asset and one real estate property.<div style='text-align: right;'><a href="javascript:hideAbstract('838987')">Hide</a></div></td></tr><tr class='event'><td class='hhmm'>17:15-18:15</td><td colspan=2 class='name'><a href='display.php?&id=838989'>GSO Seminar</a> (SMC) </td></tr><tr class='eventLine2'><td></td> <td class='speaker'>Zach Baugher </td><td class='title'><a href="javascript:showAbstract('838989')"><span class='title'>Perfect Harmony: Groups Acting on Chords</span></a></td></tr><tr class='abstract'><td class='abstract' colspan=3><div class='abstract' style='display: none' id='838989'><b>Abstract.</b> Can you hear the action of a group?
