DIFFERENT, AND EACH A CHALLENGE</strong>. But I have been fortunate enough to have work produced in theatre, television and radio.</p><p>My first original radio play ‘The God at the Gate’ was broadcast on Radio 4, and was short listed for the Richard Imison Award. I then adapted my children’s book ‘Monkey in the Stars’ as a play for the Polka Theatre, which was followed up by a Polka commission for a play, ‘Just So’, based on Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Just So Stories’. I also adapted my novel ‘Coram Boy’ for BBC Radio 4’s Classic Serial, which was broadcast in December 2008.</p><p>In 2010 I was commissioned by the National Youth Theatre to write a play for them based on the C13 female Muslim ruler in India, Razia Sultan, which had a workshop performance at the Tramway, Glasgow in August of that year. Other theatre projects have include an abridged ‘Measure for Measure’ for the Shakespeare Schools Festival and, in conjunction with Bill Alexander of the RSC, an adaption of ‘All’s Well That Ends Well’ played in a C16 Indian setting.</p><p>My book ‘Grandpa Chatterji’ was short-listed for the Smarties Award, and was dramatised by myself for television on Channel 4 Schools, starring Roshan Seth and Saeed Jaffrey.</p><p>‘Coram Boy’, my novel for young adults, published in 2000, won the Children’s Whitbread Award, and was subsequently adapted for the stage by Helen Edmundson, having two highly successful runs at the National Theatre in 2005/6 as well as a short run on Broadway in the Imperial Theatre NY. It was revived at the Bristol Old Vic for Christmas 2011.</p><p>I wish I could do more.
