This relation is tested by using two models. The first is used for testing this relation directly by regressing firm specific estimates of cost of equity capital on market beta, firm size and a measure of disclosure level. The second model is used for testing this relation by introducing information asymmetry as mediator variable. This model is suggested by Baron and Kenny (1986) to demonstrate the role of mediator variable in general. Based on a sample of 21 non-financial Tunisian’s listed firms over a period from 2000 to 2004, the results prove that greater disclosure is associated with a lower cost of equity capital. However, the results of indirect relationship indicate a significant positive association between the level of voluntary disclosure and information asymmetry and a significant negative association between information asymmetry and cost of equity capital in contradiction with our previsions. Perhaps this result is due to the biases of measure of information asymmetry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20of%20equity%20capital" title="cost of equity capital">cost of equity capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=voluntary%20disclosure" title=" voluntary disclosure"> voluntary disclosure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20asymmetry" title=" information asymmetry"> information asymmetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=and%20Tunisian%E2%80%99s%20listed%20non-financial%20firms" title=" and Tunisian’s listed non-financial firms"> and Tunisian’s listed non-financial firms</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19862/the-impact-of-voluntary-disclosure-level-on-the-cost-of-equity-capital-in-tunisians-listed-firms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19862.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">517</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7829</span> Corporate Cash Holdings and the Effect of Chaebol Affiliated on the Implied Cost of Equity Capital: Evidence from Korea</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hongmin%20Chun">Hongmin Chun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper examines corporate cash holdings and their effect on the cost of equity capital. Chaebol is typically global multinationals and owns numerous international enterprises, controlled by a chairman with power over all the operations. The overall empirical result suggests that higher cash holdings are a risk increasing factor which holds for the chaebol group of firms. This result is valid in a battery of robustness tests and 2SLS regressions. In Korea, higher cash holdings represent a risk premium factor that is closely related to the overinvestment and agency problems between managers and shareholders. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cash%20holdings" title="cash holdings">cash holdings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=implied%20cost%20of%20equity%20capital" title=" implied cost of equity capital"> implied cost of equity capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chaebol" title=" chaebol"> chaebol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agency%20problem" title=" agency problem"> agency problem</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79570/corporate-cash-holdings-and-the-effect-of-chaebol-affiliated-on-the-implied-cost-of-equity-capital-evidence-from-korea" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79570.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">173</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7828</span> Impact on Cost of Equity of Accounting and Disclosures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abhishek%20Ranga">Abhishek Ranga</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study examined the effect of accounting choice and level of disclosure on the firm’s implied cost of equity in Indian environment. For the study accounting choice was classified as aggressive or conservative depending upon the firm’s choice of accounting methods, accounting policies and accounting estimates. Level of disclosure is the quantum of financial and non-financial information disclosed in firm’s annual report, essentially in note to accounts section, schedules forming part of financial statements and Management Discussion and Analysis report. Regression models were developed with cost of equity as a dependent variable and accounting choice, level of disclosure as an independent variable along with selected control variables. Cost of equity was measured using Edward-Bell-Ohlson (EBO) valuation model, to measure accounting choice Modified-Jones-Model (MJM) was used and level of disclosure was measured using a disclosure index essentially drawn from Botosan study. Results indicated a negative association between the implied cost of equity and conservative accounting choice and also between level of disclosure and cost of equity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aggressive%20accounting%20choice" title="aggressive accounting choice">aggressive accounting choice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conservative%20accounting%20choice" title=" conservative accounting choice"> conservative accounting choice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disclosure" title=" disclosure"> disclosure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=implied%20cost%20of%20equity" title=" implied cost of equity"> implied cost of equity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25181/impact-on-cost-of-equity-of-accounting-and-disclosures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25181.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">462</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7827</span> The Valuation of Equity Book Value and Net Income of Financial Firms in Times of Financial Crisis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sami%20Adwan">Sami Adwan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alaa%20Alhaj%20Ismail"> Alaa Alhaj Ismail</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claudia%20Girardone"> Claudia Girardone</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper examines the changes in the value relevance of book value of equity and net income of financial firms over the crisis period. It also examines how these changes vary with three variables, namely, fair value exposure, ownership concentration, and regulatory capital ratios. Using a sample of financial firms operating in the European Economic Area over 2005-2011, our findings suggest that the value relevance of book value of equity increases while that of net income decreases during the financial crisis. We find that more exposure to fair value accounting mitigates the impact of the crisis on the value relevance of book value of equity and net income. We also find that more concentrated ownership appears to have a mitigating impact on the changes in the value relevance of both book value of equity and net income in times of financial crisis. Finally, we find evidence that the level of regulatory capital ratios tends to have an attenuating effect on the changes in the value relevance of net income (but not book value of equity) in times of financial crisis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20relevance" title="value relevance">value relevance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20crisis" title=" financial crisis"> financial crisis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20firms" title=" financial firms"> financial firms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fair%20value" title=" fair value"> fair value</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ownership%20concentration" title=" ownership concentration"> ownership concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=regulatory%20capital" title=" regulatory capital"> regulatory capital</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103677/the-valuation-of-equity-book-value-and-net-income-of-financial-firms-in-times-of-financial-crisis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/103677.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">181</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7826</span> The Impact of Unconditional and Conditional Conservatism on Cost of Equity Capital: A Quantile Regression Approach for MENA Countries</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khalifa%20Maha">Khalifa Maha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ben%20Othman%20Hakim"> Ben Othman Hakim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khaled%20Hussainey"> Khaled Hussainey </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Prior empirical studies have investigated the economic consequences of accounting conservatism by examining its impact on the cost of equity capital (COEC). However, findings are not conclusive. We assume that inconsistent results of such association may be attributed to the regression models used in data analysis. To address this issue, we re-examine the effect of different dimension of accounting conservatism: unconditional conservatism (U_CONS) and conditional conservatism (C_CONS) on the COEC for a sample of listed firms from Middle Eastern and North Africa (MENA) countries, applying quantile regression (QR) approach developed by Koenker and Basset (1978). While classical ordinary least square (OLS) method is widely used in empirical accounting research, however it may produce inefficient and bias estimates in the case of departures from normality or long tail error distribution. QR method is more powerful than OLS to handle this kind of problem. It allows the coefficient on the independent variables to shift across the distribution of the dependent variable whereas OLS method only estimates the conditional mean effects of a response variable. We find as predicted that U_CONS has a significant positive effect on the COEC however, C_CONS has a negative impact. Findings suggest also that the effect of the two dimensions of accounting conservatism differs considerably across COEC quantiles. Comparing results from QR method with those of OLS, this study throws more lights on the association between accounting conservatism and COEC. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconditional%20conservatism" title="unconditional conservatism">unconditional conservatism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conditional%20conservatism" title=" conditional conservatism"> conditional conservatism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20of%20equity%20capital" title=" cost of equity capital"> cost of equity capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OLS" title=" OLS"> OLS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantile%20regression" title=" quantile regression"> quantile regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20markets" title=" emerging markets"> emerging markets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MENA%20countries" title=" MENA countries"> MENA countries</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18731/the-impact-of-unconditional-and-conditional-conservatism-on-cost-of-equity-capital-a-quantile-regression-approach-for-mena-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18731.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">359</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7825</span> Internal Capital Market Efficiency Study Based on Improved Cash Flow Sensitivity Coefficient - Take Tomorrow Group as an Example</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Lu">Peng Lu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liu%20Ting"> Liu Ting</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Because of the difficulty of financing from the external capital market, the reorganization and merger of private enterprises have formed a family group, seeking the help of the internal capital market to alleviate the capital demand. However, the inefficiency of the internal capital market can damage the effect it should have played, and even hinder the development of enterprises. This paper takes the "Tomorrow Group" as the research object to carry on the case analysis. After using the improved cash flow sensitivity coefficient to measure the efficiency of the internal capital market of Tomorrow Group, the inefficiency phenomenon is found. Then the analysis reveals that the reasons for its inefficiency include that the pyramidal equity structure is conducive to control, the separation of cash flow rights and control rights, the concentration of equity leads to poor balance, the abandonment of real industries and information asymmetry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tomorrow%20group" title="tomorrow group">tomorrow group</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20capital%20market" title=" internal capital market"> internal capital market</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=related-party%20transactions" title=" related-party transactions"> related-party transactions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baotou%20tomorrow%20technology%20Co." title=" Baotou tomorrow technology Co."> Baotou tomorrow technology Co.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LTD" title=" LTD"> LTD</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116397/internal-capital-market-efficiency-study-based-on-improved-cash-flow-sensitivity-coefficient-take-tomorrow-group-as-an-example" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116397.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7824</span> Studying the Effects of Conditional Conservatism and Lack of Information Asymmetry on the Cost of Capital of the Accepted Companies in Tehran Stock Exchange</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fayaz%20Moosavi">Fayaz Moosavi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeid%20Moradyfard"> Saeid Moradyfard</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the methods in avoiding management fraud and increasing the quality of financial information, is the notification of qualitative features of financial information, including conservatism characteristic. Although taking a conservatism approach, while boosting the quality of financial information, is able to reduce the informational risk and the cost of capital stock of commercial department, by presenting an improper image about the situation of the commercial department, raises the risk of failure in returning the main and capital interest, and consequently the cost of capital of the commercial department. In order to know if conservatism finally leads to the increase or decrease of the cost of capital or does not have any influence on it, information regarding accepted companies in Tehran stock exchange is utilized by application of pooling method from 2007 to 2012 and it included 124 companies. The results of the study revealed that there is an opposite and meaningful relationship between conditional conservatism and the cost of capital of the company. In other words, if bad and unsuitable news and signs are reflected sooner than good news in accounting profit, the cost of capital of the company increases. In addition, there is a positive and meaningful relationship between the cost of capital and lack of information asymmetry. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conditional%20conservatism" title="conditional conservatism">conditional conservatism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lack%20of%20information%20asymmetry" title=" lack of information asymmetry"> lack of information asymmetry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20cost%20of%20capital" title=" the cost of capital"> the cost of capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stock%20exchange" title=" stock exchange"> stock exchange</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53090/studying-the-effects-of-conditional-conservatism-and-lack-of-information-asymmetry-on-the-cost-of-capital-of-the-accepted-companies-in-tehran-stock-exchange" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53090.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">265</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7823</span> Deficiency Risk in Islamic and Conventional Banks</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Korbi%20Fakhri">Korbi Fakhri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The management of assets and liability is a vital task for every bank as far as a good direction allows its stability; however, a bad running forewarns its disappearance. Equity of a bank is among the most important rubrics in the liability side because, actually, these funds ensure three notably primordial functions for the survival of the bank. From one hand, equity is useful to bankroll the investments and cover the unexpected losses. From another hand, they attract the fund lessors since they inspire trust. So we are going to tackle some points including whether equity of the Islamic banks are oversized. In spite of the efforts made on the subject, the relationship between the capital and the deficiency probability has not been defined with certainty. In this article, we have elaborated a study over the nature of financial intermediation in Islamic banks by comparison to those of conventional ones. We have found a striking difference between two kinds of intermediation. We tried, from another side, to study the relationship between the capital level and deficiency risk relying on econometric model, and we have obtained a positive and significant relation between the capital and the deficiency risk for the conventional banks. This means that when the capital of these banks increases, the deficiency risk increases as well. In return, since the Islamic banks are constrained to respect the Sharia Committee as well as customers’ demands who may, in certain contracts, choose to invest their capitals in projects they are interested in. These constraints have as effects to reduce the deficiency risk even when the capital increases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Islamic%20bank" title="Islamic bank">Islamic bank</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conventional%20bank" title=" conventional bank"> conventional bank</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deficiency%20risk" title=" deficiency risk"> deficiency risk</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=financial%20intermediation" title=" financial intermediation"> financial intermediation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19126/deficiency-risk-in-islamic-and-conventional-banks" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19126.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">392</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7822</span> Understanding the Nature of Capital Allocation Problem in Corporate Finance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meltem%20Gurunlu">Meltem Gurunlu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the central problems in corporate finance is the allocation of funds. This usually takes two forms: allocation of funds across firms in an economy or allocation of funds across projects or business units within a firm. The first one is typically related to the external markets (the bond market, the stock market, banks and finance companies) whereas the second form of the capital allocation is related to the internal capital markets in which corporate headquarters allocate capital to their business units. (within-group transfers, within-group credit markets, and within-group equity market). The main aim of this study is to investigate the nature of capital allocation dynamics by comparing the relevant studies carried out on external and internal capital markets with paying special significance to the business groups. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internal%20capital%20markets" title="internal capital markets">internal capital markets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=external%20capital%20markets" title=" external capital markets"> external capital markets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20structure" title=" capital structure"> capital structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20allocation" title=" capital allocation"> capital allocation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20groups" title=" business groups"> business groups</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20finance" title=" corporate finance"> corporate finance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89423/understanding-the-nature-of-capital-allocation-problem-in-corporate-finance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89423.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">194</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7821</span> The Effect of Accounting Conservatism on Cost of Capital: A Quantile Regression Approach for MENA Countries</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maha%20Zouaoui%20Khalifa">Maha Zouaoui Khalifa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hakim%20Ben%20Othman"> Hakim Ben Othman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hussaney%20Khaled"> Hussaney Khaled</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Prior empirical studies have investigated the economic consequences of accounting conservatism by examining its impact on the cost of equity capital (COEC). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unconditional%20conservatism" title="unconditional conservatism">unconditional conservatism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conditional%20conservatism" title=" conditional conservatism"> conditional conservatism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20of%20equity%20capital" title=" cost of equity capital"> cost of equity capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=OLS" title=" OLS"> OLS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantile%20regression" title=" quantile regression"> quantile regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20markets" title=" emerging markets"> emerging markets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MENA%20countries" title=" MENA countries"> MENA countries</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18733/the-effect-of-accounting-conservatism-on-cost-of-capital-a-quantile-regression-approach-for-mena-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18733.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">355</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7820</span> Personal Income and the Social Confidence in Contemporary China: The Indirect Role of the Sense of Social Equity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenfen%20Bi">Wenfen Bi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeng%20Lin"> Zeng Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As a developing country, China is badly in need of capital and talents to develop the socialist country with Chinese characteristics. However, a large proportion of high income people with know-how technique, wealth and management experience have immigrated or plan to immigrate to other countries. Of course, this phenomenon has attracted the attention from both the government and researchers. One explanation might be that these high-income people lack confidence in China’s social development. Based on the data on W city’s comprehensive social situation surveyed by center for the social survey research of Wuhan university (CSSR) in 2014, this paper employed the structural equation model (SEM) to evaluate whether personal income affects social confidence, via the mediating effect of the sense of social equity (sense of right equity and sense of distributive equity). Bootstrap mediation analysis revealed that after controlling Demographic variables, personal income had a significant negative influence on sense of right equity and in turn, sense of rights equity can significantly positively predict social confidence. While personal income had no significant effect on sense of distributive equity, and sense of distributive equity did not significantly affect macro social confidence. Also, the direct effects of personal income on social confidence became not significant. These findings revealed the inner mechanism of the relationship between the personal income and social confidence in contemporary China, which was caused by mediating effect of sense of rights equity. That is, the higher the personal income, the lower the sense of rights equity, the lower the social confidence. Thus, the boost of the social confidence, especially for the rich, does not only depend on the equitable distribution of material wealth, but also on the right equity and making people feel rights equally in common life. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personal%20income" title="personal income">personal income</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sense%20of%20right%20equity" title=" sense of right equity"> sense of right equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sense%20of%20social%20equity" title=" sense of social equity"> sense of social equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20confidence" title=" social confidence"> social confidence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63097/personal-income-and-the-social-confidence-in-contemporary-china-the-indirect-role-of-the-sense-of-social-equity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63097.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">392</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7819</span> Impact of Capital Structure, Dividend Policy and Sustainability on Value of Firm: A Case Study of Spinning Textile Sector of Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahid%20Ahmad">Zahid Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samia%20Yousaf"> Samia Yousaf</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main purpose of this study is to evaluate and assess the financial position, operating performance, and recent outlook of the companies. This study investigates the impact of capital structure, dividend policy and sustainability on the value of firms of textile spinning sector of Pakistan which is listed on Pakistan stock exchange. The panel data technique has been applied to this group of textile sector which is textile spinning. This study covers the last ten years of time period. All the data related to the variables have been collected from the annual reports and financial statements of the textile sector firms. There are differently related determinants to measure the capital structure which are fixed assets turnover ratio, debt ratio, equity ratio, debt to equity ratio, assets tangibility, and shareholder’s equity. Dividend policy is being measured by two determinants which are earning per share (EPS) and dividend payout ratio. Sustainability is being measured by three suitable factors which are sales growth, gross profit margin ratio and firm size. These are three independent variables and their determinants of this study. Value of firm is measured through the return on asset (ROA). Capital structure is at the top of the list among all the three variables. According to the results of this research work, somewhere all the three variables generates positive and significant effect on the firm’s performance and its growth. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20structure" title="capital structure">capital structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dividend%20policy" title=" dividend policy"> dividend policy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=panel%20data" title=" panel data"> panel data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79844/impact-of-capital-structure-dividend-policy-and-sustainability-on-value-of-firm-a-case-study-of-spinning-textile-sector-of-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79844.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">231</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7818</span> A Critical Knowledge of Brand Equity in Thai Academic Works</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pongsiri%20Kamkankaew">Pongsiri Kamkankaew</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper experiments to consider brand equity thought in Thai academic works. This study uses economics theory approach to examine the existence of economies of scale in the ASEAN Banking market especially on its impact on cost efficiency. We apply concept of average cost (AC) as a proxy for the cost efficiency. We find that economies of scale is existing in the banking market indicating scale and scope economies should be considered in the industrial policy. Under private law regime, PT Merpati Persero equity is a state asset allocated separately from the State Budget. Consequently, it is no longer a state asset; rather, it becomes a part of company assets. The adoption of Act No. 17 of 2003 on State Finance, Act No. 31 of 1999, which is amended by Act No. 20 of 2001 on Eradication of Corrupt Practices, Act No. 15 of 2004 on Auditing, Management, and Accountability of State Finance, and Act No. 15 of 2006 Audit Board raises legal issues of whether State-owned Company’s (PT Merpati Persero) loss may be deemed as loss on state finance made by the Directors of PT Merpati Persero, which implication leads to corrupt practices conducted by the Directors. The principle of civil law states that state assets are separated from the state budget is not a government asset. Therefore the case of a lease agreement 2 (two) units of Boeing 737-400 and Boeing 737-500 between PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines with companies Third Stone Aircraft Leasing Group (TALG) the United States cannot be prosecuted under Articles 2 and 3 of Act No. 31 of 1999 Jo Act No. 20 of 2001 on Eradication of Corrupt Practices (Law PTPK). From this paper, three things are found. First, state’s capital equity, which has been allocated separately from state assets in establishing the PT Merpati Perserois not state asset; rather, it is company’s asset. Second, in the case of mismanagement leading to company loss, the Directors of PT Merpati Persero may not be charged with committing corrupt practice as prescribed in Articles 2 and 3 of Corrupt Practices Eradication Law. Third, misperception has been made by judicial practices since the courts consider loss in certain transaction made by Directors of PT Merpati Persero to be loss of state finance whose implication is applicability of Articles 2 and 3 of Corrupt Practices Eradication Law. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corrupt%20practice" title="corrupt practice">corrupt practice</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loss" title=" loss"> loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=state%27s%20capital%20equity" title=" state's capital equity"> state's capital equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=state%20finance%20%28PT%20Merpati%20Persero%29" title=" state finance (PT Merpati Persero)"> state finance (PT Merpati Persero)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71196/directors-liability-for-losses-incurred-in-the-management-of-pt-merpati-nusantara-airlines-persero" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71196.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">261</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7813</span> Off-Farm Work and Cost Efficiency in Staple Food Production among Small-Scale Farmers in North Central Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20E.%20Ogbanje">C. Gamma (γ) was statistically significant. Farm size significantly (p<0.01) increased cost outlay for participants and non-participants. Average input prices of enterprises one and two significantly (p<0.01) increased cost. Sex, household size, credit obtained, formal education, farming experience, and farm income significantly (p<0.05) reduced cost inefficiency for non-participants. Average cost efficiency was 11%. Farm capital was wasted. Participants’ substitution of capital for labour did not put them at a disadvantage. The analysis uses both symmetric and asymmetric Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity models to investigate volatility persistence and leverage effect. The bivariate EGARCH model is used to test for volatility transmission between two equity markets. Weekly data for the period February 2013 to August 2019 is used for empirical analysis. The findings indicate that the leverage effect exists in the equity markets of all the countries except Bangladesh. The volatility spillover from the equity market of Bangladesh to all other countries is negative and significant whereas the volatility of the equity market of Sri-Lanka does influence the volatility of any other country’s equity market. Indian equity market influence only the volatility of the Sri-Lankan equity market; and there is bidirectional volatility spillover between the equity markets of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The findings are important for policy-makers and international investors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volatility%20spillover" title="volatility spillover">volatility spillover</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=volatility%20persistence" title=" volatility persistence"> volatility persistence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=garch" title=" garch"> garch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=egarch" title=" egarch"> egarch</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/121891/volatility-spillover-among-the-stock-markets-of-south-asian-countries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/121891.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7811</span> Impact of Risk Management Practices on Company Performance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Atif%20Ali">Syed Atif Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farzan%20Yahya"> Farzan Yahya</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research paper covers the issue of risk management impact on the company performance. Through analyses, it is found that WCR impact adequately on the company performance because if company has enough liquidity than it perform its operations smoothly and enhance its performance very well. DFL should be control moderately because enough DFL leads performance of company downward. It resides in designing a model for a contingent convertible lease contract that can ensure the financial stability of a company and recover the losses of the parties to the lease in the event of default. It also aims to compare the convertible lease contract on inefficiencies resulting from the debt-overhang problem and asset substitution with other financing policies. From this perspective, this paper highlights the interaction between investments and financing policies in a dynamic model with existing assets and a growth option where the investment cost is financed by a contingent convertible lease and equity. We explore the impact of the contingent convertible lease on the capital structure. We also check the reliability and effectiveness of the use of the convertible lease contract as a means of financing. Findings show that the rental convertible contract with a sufficiently high conversion ratio has less severe inefficiencies arising from risk-shifting and debt overhang than those entailed by risky debt and pure-equity financing. The problem of underinvestment pointed out by Mauer and Ott (2000) and the problem of overinvestment mentioned by Hackbarth and Mauer (2012) may be reduced under contingent convertible lease financing. Our findings predict that the firm value under contingent convertible lease financing increases globally with asset volatility instead of decreasing with business risk. The study reveals that convertible leasing contracts can stand for a reliable solution to ensure the lessee and quickly recover the counterparties of the lease upon default. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contingent%20convertible%20lease" title="contingent convertible lease">contingent convertible lease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=growth%20option" title=" growth option"> growth option</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=debt%20overhang" title=" debt overhang"> debt overhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk-shifting" title=" risk-shifting"> risk-shifting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20structure" title=" capital structure"> capital structure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161279/convertible-lease-risky-debt-and-financial-structure-with-growth-option" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161279.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">72</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7808</span> Working Capital Efficiency and Firm Profitability: Nigeria and Kenya</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lucian%20J.%20Pitt">Lucian J. Intangible assets in question is intellectual capital that is recognized as the basis of individual, organizational, and general competition in the 21st century. The rapid global economy and technological innovations that have led to tough competition in the business world, make IC creation, management, measurement, and evaluation an important indicator in improving company performance that will affect the value of the company in the future. This study aims to determine the strong influence of intellectual capital on corporate performance, and how the influence of human capital on structural capital and relation capital. By distributing questionnaires to 100 employees of banking companies in Jakarta with middle and upper positions. Approach method used is Partial Least Square (PLS) Based on research that has been done, it can be concluded that human capital has influence on relation capital and structural capital. Similarly, the influence on the performance of the company turned out to human capital and relation capital has a significant influence, but structural capital has a non-significant effect on company performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20capital" title="human capital">human capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20capital" title=" structural capital"> structural capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relation%20capital" title=" relation capital"> relation capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corporate%20performance" title=" corporate performance"> corporate performance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88865/the-role-of-human-capital-structural-capital-and-relation-capital-towards-company-performance-using-partial-least-square" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88865.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7806</span> Business Challenges and Opportunities of Mobile Applications for Equity Trading in India</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Helee%20Dave">Helee Dave</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Globalization has helped in the growth and change of the Indian economy to a great extent. The purchasing power of Indians has increased. IT Infrastructure has considerably improved in India. There is an increase in the usage of smartphones. The smartphones facilitate all sorts of work now a day, from getting groceries to planning a tour; it is just one click away. Similar is the case with equity trading. The traders in equity market can now deal with their stocks through mobile applications eliminating the middle man. The traders do not have an option but to open a dematerialization account with the banks which are compulsory enough irrespective of their mode of transaction that is online or offline. Considering that India is a young country having more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and 65% of its population below the age of 35; this youth is comfortable with the usage of smartphones. The banking industry is also providing a virtual platform supporting equity market industry. Yet equity trading through online applications is at an infant stage. This paper primarily attempts to understand challenges and opportunities faced by equity trading through mobile apps in India. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BPO" title="BPO">BPO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20outsourcing" title=" business process outsourcing"> business process outsourcing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=de-materialization%20account" title=" de-materialization account"> de-materialization account</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=equity" title=" equity"> equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ITES" title=" ITES"> ITES</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20technology%20enabled%20services" title=" information technology enabled services"> information technology enabled services</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66240/business-challenges-and-opportunities-of-mobile-applications-for-equity-trading-in-india" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/66240.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">311</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7805</span> Cost of Governance in Nigeria: In Whose Interest</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Francis%20O.%20Iyoha">Francis O. It has been observed that it takes 70 percent of the nation’s revenue to maintain less than 20 percent of the Nigerian population that are public servants. Furthermore, it has been observed that on a consistent yearly basis, the recurrent expenditure of government from the national budget keeps rising, while capital expenditure meant for development keeps falling. The implication is that development is stagnated in the country. For instance, in the 2010 national budget of NGN4.60tn or USD28.75b, only NGN1.80tn or USD11.15b was set aside for capital expenditure. Also, in the 2013 national budget of NGN4.92tn or USD30.75b, only NGN1.50tn or USD9.38b was set aside for capital expenditure. Therefore, with the analysis of secondary data, this study examined the reasons for the high cost of governance in Nigeria. It observed that the high cost of governance in the country is in the interest of the ruling class, arising from their unethical behaviour – corrupt practices and the poor management of public resources. As a result, the study recommends the need to intensify the war against corruption and mismanagement of public resources by government officials as possible solution to overcome the high cost of governance in Nigeria. This could be achieved by strengthening the constitutional powers of the various anti-corruption agencies in the area of arrest, investigation and prosecution of offenders without the interference of the executive arm of government either at the local, state or federal level. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cost%20of%20governance" title="cost of governance">cost of governance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capital%20expenditure" title=" capital expenditure"> capital expenditure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recurrent%20expenditure" title=" recurrent expenditure"> recurrent expenditure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unethical%20behavior" title=" unethical behavior"> unethical behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nigeria" title=" Nigeria"> Nigeria</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19129/cost-of-governance-in-nigeria-in-whose-interest" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19129.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">339</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7804</span> Fama French Four Factor Model: A Study of Nifty Fifty Companies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Deeksha%20Arora">Deeksha Arora</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study aims to explore the applicability of the widely used asset pricing models, namely, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and the Fama-French Four Factor Model in the Indian equity market. The study will be based on the companies that form part of the Nifty Fifty Index for a period of five years: 2011 to 2016. The asset pricing model is examined by forming portfolios on the basis of three variables – market capitalization (size effect), book-to-market equity ratio (value effect) and profitability. The study provides a basis to test the presence of the Fama-French Four factor model in Indian stock market. This study may provide a basis for future research in the generalized asset pricing model comprising of multiple risk factors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=book%20to%20market%20equity" title="book to market equity">book to market equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fama%20French%20four%20factor%20model" title=" Fama French four factor model"> Fama French four factor model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=market%20capitalization" title=" market capitalization"> market capitalization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=profitability" title=" profitability"> profitability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=size%20effect" title=" size effect"> size effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=value%20effect" title=" value effect"> value effect</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76959/fama-french-four-factor-model-a-study-of-nifty-fifty-companies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76959.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">263</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7803</span> Analysis of the Impacts of Capital Goods' Import and Human Capital on the Economic Growth of the Sub Sahahra Africa: A Panel-ARDL Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adeleke%20Omolade">Adeleke Omolade</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study investigated the impacts of capital goods' import and human capital on the economic growth of the Sub Sahahra Africa (SSA). 30 countries were used in the Panel- ARDL analysis where economic growth is the dependent variables and capital goods' import, human capital, primary export, investment exchange rate, among others were used as the independent variables. The result from the panel analysis indicates that capital goods' import will significantly and positively influence economic growth but human capital fails to have significant positive impact on economic growth of the SSA. Earlier the trend analysis and the correlation results have shown that there is a weak association between capital goods' import and human capital in the SSA. We have allocated unidentifiable capital as a separate category of intangible capital, including a variety of synergistic interaction effects and other. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intangible%20capital" title="intangible capital">intangible capital</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intangible%20property" title=" intangible property"> intangible property</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=object%20of%20intangible%20property" title=" object of intangible property"> object of intangible property</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reputation%20capital" title=" reputation capital"> reputation capital</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25209/the-structure-of-the-intangible-capital" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">535</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7801</span> Clarification of the Essential of Life Cycle Cost upon Decision-Making Process: An Empirical Study in Building Projects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ayedh%20Alqahtani">Ayedh Alqahtani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andrew%20Whyte"> Andrew Whyte</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Life Cycle Cost (LCC) is one of the goals and key pillars of the construction management science because it comprises many of the functions and processes necessary, which assist organisations and agencies to achieve their goals. It has therefore become important to design and control assets during their whole life cycle, from the design and planning phase through to disposal phase. LCCA is aimed to improve the decision making system in the ownership of assets by taking into account all the cost elements including to the asset throughout its life. Current application of LCC approach is impractical during misunderstanding of the advantages of LCC. This main objective of this research is to show a different relationship between capital cost and long-term running costs. One hundred and thirty eight actual building projects in United Kingdom (UK) were used in order to achieve and measure the above-mentioned objective of the study. The result shown that LCC is one of the most significant tools should be considered on the decision making process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
