Both of them are jewelers, whose names will go unmentioned. One offered her $250. The other offered her $100! That鈥檚 right, one hundred dollars, and we paid her $630.</p> <p>A couple of weeks ago we bought a bag of silver rings and chains from a young man here in San Marcos and paid him $210 for it. The competition, a pawn shop this time, had offered him $40 for it.</p> <p>Do we always beat the competition? No. Yesterday a lady told us she was offered, by a different pawn shop, $85 for a gold necklace for which we had offered $80.
