During this time he expanded, also, his knowledge on inflammation by focusing on immune-mediated inflammatory diseases and investigated the role of Annexin-1 (ANX-1) and interleukin-17A (IL-17A) in different model of inflammation. Since 2010, he joined Prof. Nicola Mascolo’s lab where he re-activated his long-term interest in natural compound biology, starting an unexplored path in the role of natural molecules in the inflammatory response and cardiovascular system. Subsequently he also received Bursary Award at XVII International Congress of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC-World Lab), Firenze, Italy in 1999. His passion in research led him to emigrate to the U.S. to pursue his advanced research career at The Ohio State University in 2006. Dr. Sanjay Batra joined Department of Pathobiological Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, Louisiana State University in 2009 and his work focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms associated with the pathogenesis of bacterial pneumonia and during COPD/Emphysema. Dr. Batra is presently Associate Professor in the Environmental Toxicology PhD program, Southern University and A&M College, Baton Rouge and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Pathobiological Sciences, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Dr. Batra is serving as reviewer and Editorial Board member for several journals. Dr. Batra’s premier work on benzyl isothiocyanate (BITC), a dietary agent contained in high amounts in garden cress, papaya and common cruciferous vegetables established a direct correlation between HDAC1 and HDAC3 inhibition and inactivation of NF-кB in pancreatic cancer cells.
