link describes a connection between web resources. Just as an anchor element of type <code><a></code> is commonly used to describe relationships in the body of a <abbr title="HyperText Markup Language">HTML</abbr> page, an anchor element of type <code><link></code> may be used to define resource relationships in the <abbr>HTML</abbr> header.</p> <p>Link elements with a <code>rel</code> value of "alternate" are used to describe an alternate representation of the content of the current web page. Is the same information available in another language or another data type? Great! Be sure to define these relationships for proper interpretation by browsers and search engines.</p> <p>Link alternates must be placed in the header section of your <abbr>HTML</abbr>: between <code><head></code> and <code></head></code>.
