La strada da percorrere per ridurre gli sprechi alimentari

Per affrontare questa sfida, SISTERS ha sviluppato soluzioni volte a ridurre le perdite e gli sprechi alimentari lungo l鈥檌ntera catena di approvvigionamento. Ora, 3 anni dopo l鈥檌nizio del progetto, l鈥橝ssociazione dei produttori ed esportatori di frutta e verdura della regione di Murcia (Proexport), organizzazione partner di SISTERS, sta contribuendo a fornire informazioni utili ai ricercatori circa il funzionamento del settore produttivo. Progettati nell鈥檃mbito del progetto SISTERS e testati in condizioni di lavoro reali, questi contenitori misurano parametri di freschezza come CO2, umidit脿 e temperatura e segnalano di conseguenza le condizioni del prodotto, consentendo di adottare misure preventive. 芦Non ci stiamo prendendo in giro禄, osserva Hern谩ndez. 芦Le soluzioni tecniche proposte sono complesse e non 猫 sufficiente che funzionino e riducano gli sprechi in un ambito gi脿 abbastanza perfezionato: la loro implementazione a livello industriale richieder脿 anche la valutazione di altri aspetti, come lo spazio occupato dai contenitori o il rapporto costi-benefici.禄</sectionBody> </section> <section> <sectionTitle xmlns="">Contenitori, ma non solo</sectionTitle> <sectionBody xmlns="">Oltre ai contenitori intelligenti, SISTERS sta impiegando una serie di altre innovazioni intese ad affrontare il problema degli sprechi alimentari, tra cui piattaforme online per aiutare gli agricoltori a vendere i loro prodotti scartati e nuove soluzioni di imballaggio alimentare a base biologica, come le pellicole biodegradabili sviluppate dall鈥檃zienda croata Bio-Mi, impresa partner del progetto. Nell鈥檃mbito del progetto, Bio-Mi ha lavorato allo sviluppo della produzione di pellicole a base biologica e biodegradabili realizzate principalmente con acido polilattico (PLA). Per migliorarne la biodegradabilit脿, il progetto ha incorporato nel processo di produzione di questa pellicola ricca di PLA un additivo, noto come CARBIOS Active, che le consente di disintegrarsi e biodegradarsi completamente, anche a temperatura ambiente, senza lasciare alcun residuo tossico o microplastica. L鈥檌ntegrazione di CARBIOS Active migliora le propriet脿 meccaniche della pellicola, in particolare la sua capacit脿 di allungarsi prima di raggiungere il punto di rottura, e offre inoltre il vantaggio di ridurre in certi casi le grinze, rendendo possibile la produzione di pellicole pi霉 sottili e consentendo di impiegare meno materiali e abbassare i costi. Oltre alle pellicole, SISTERS (Systemic Innovations for a SusTainable reduction of the EuRopean food waStage) sta sviluppando altre soluzioni di imballaggio a base biologica come vassoi, cestini e confezioni 芦flow pack禄, che dispongono del potenziale di ridurre i rifiuti alimentari.
