19 was jointly held by Nanjing Overseas Friendship Association, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Nanjing Municipal People’s Government, and the eight universities. </p><p><br /></p><p><img /></p><p><br /></p><p>On behalf of Nanjing University, Yang Zhong, executive deputy secretary of the university’s CPC committee, extended his greetings to all the alumni, overseas Chinese, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.</p><p><br /></p><p>Yang noted that in recent years, Nanjing University has focused on its intensive growth and high-quality improvement to build “the First Nanjing University” and advance the construction of “Double First-Class.” </p><p><br /></p><p>The university has made remarkable achievements in education, research, social services, cultural preservation and innovation, and international cooperation and exchange. Therefore, it has ushered in a new era of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and Nanjing University style. </p><p><br /></p><p>Yang also extended his invitation to all compatriots to visit Nanjing University when it celebrates its 120th anniversary on May 20, 2022. He hoped that they will continue to pay attention to the university, support it, and create a better future together with it.</p><p><br /></p><p>During the webcast, Hua Jing, president of Nanjing Overseas Friendship Association, said that Chinese people at home and abroad always show their concern about the growth of their country and their hometown. They have been giving strong support to the development of China and construction of Nanjing with a sincere heart and a patriotic sentiment. They actively participate in the construction of a “Famous Innovative City, Beautiful Ancient Capital” through innovation and entrepreneurship and contribute their wisdom and strength to Nanjing’s “prosperous, wealthy, beautiful and highly-civilized” development. </p><p><br /></p><p>Wei Zuliang, president of Nanjing University’s Alumni Association of Australia, also sent Mid-Autumn greetings at the event. He hoped that the university alumni at home and abroad can contribute to the national rejuvenation and the joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He also wished that the alumni would make great progress in a new year.</p><p><br /></p><p>At the webcast, Nanjing University’s traditional orchestra put up a wonderful performance of “A Moonlit Night on the Spring River” and won wide acclaim. </p><p><br /></p><p>During the event, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and from overseas actively participated in the program. They said that the event has conveyed fervent patriotism, deep reminiscence and strong voice of the times.
