The International Criminal Court - a conference: 10 year review of the ICC.</em></p> <p align="left">The conference marked the 10<sup>th</sup> Anniversary of the operation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and discussed the work and impact of the ICC during its first decade. Speakers included ICC President, Judge Sang-Hyun Song, ICC Registrar Silvana Arbia, ICC Deputy Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, ASP President Ambassador Tiina Intelmann and a number of renowned academic, government and civil society experts on the Court.</p> <p align="left">The two key objectives of the Conference were to examine the role and success of the ICC in achieving gender justice, and to analyse the participation of the Asia Pacific region in the ICC regime. The Conference will review the circumstances and reasons for the Asia Pacific’s limited engagement with the ICC, and the key lessons from other regions about how to achieve ratification and full implementation of the Court’s mandate, including in the area of gender justice. Against the backdrop of the two main themes of gender justice and the Asia Pacific, the Conference considered the operation of the Rome Statute of the ICC at three distinct levels: within the Court itself, as between states parties, and between the ICC and civil society.</p> <p align="left">The Justice for All Conference was held at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, on <strong>14 - 15 February 2012</strong>. The conference included the Australian Human Rights Centre Annual Public Lecture. The day directly after the conference was dedicated to a capacity-building workshop with delegates from the region. The workshop was by invitation only.</p> <p><strong>The Conference addressed questions such as:</strong></p> <ul> <li>How effective has the ICC been in ensuring that gender justice informs its mandate, practice and procedure?</li> <li>What factors explain the limited engagement of states in the Asia Pacific region with the ICC?</li> <li>How does advocacy around the ICC fit into broader strategies for achieving gender justice and equality at the global, regional and national level?</li> <li>What is the future of the ICC (and similar tribunals) in putting an end to impunity for the perpetrators of crimes and contributing to the prevention of such crimes?</li> </ul> <div style="border-right: rgb(204,204,204) 2px solid;
