Adolescents & Youth</h1> </header> <div class="description"> <p>The SNF, taking into account that the economic and resulting social crises are always potential risk factors for the manifestation and development of psychiatric symptoms throughout the population, and that times of crisis affect, primarily, the most vulnerable members of society, such as children and adolescents, came to the conclusion that the implementation of a program targeting the amelioration of the mental health of children, adolescents and young adults was an area worth its attention and support. More specifically, special emphasis was given by the Foundation to the groups that are at high risk of developing mental health disorders, such as children of immigrants, children whose parents suffer from severe mental health illnesses, children who are exposed to domestic violence, and children whose families are affected by the socio-economic crisis.</p> <p>Under the Program, a total of 12 sub-programs and interventions aresupported for a period ranging from one to three years. Issues addressed through this program include the promotion of mental health of infants and toddlers, the implementation of training programs for mental health professionals, programs for children of immigrants, as well as programs aimed at preventing eating disorders. The organizations supported through this program are three University psychiatry clinics, and respected NGOs in the field of mental health services. Programs take place both in Athens and the Greek Provinces.The faculty members of the University of Athens Medical School post-graduate program entitled “Disaster Medicine and Health Crisis Management” are responsible for the scientific evaluation and coordination of all programs that come under the Mental Health Promotion Program for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults.</p> </div>
