The purpose of the study is to provide evidential support for government policymaking so as to drive up more effective public policies by taking into consideration the variance in these social factors. It was found that the respondents’ party affiliation or preference, religious belief, and ethnicity, in addition to their health condition, gender, level of concern of contracting COVID-19, all affected their mask-wearing habits both in March, the initial coronavirus outbreak stage, and in August, when mask-wearing had been made mandatory by state governments. The study concludes that pandemic awareness campaigns must be run among all citizens, especially among African Americans, Muslims, and Republicans, who have the lowest rates of wearing masks, in order to protect themselves and others. It is recommended that complementary cognitive bias awareness programs should be implemented in non-Black and non-Muslim communities to eliminate social concerns that deter them from wearing masks. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=COVID-19%20pandemic" title="COVID-19 pandemic">COVID-19 pandemic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethnicity" title=" ethnicity"> ethnicity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mask-wearing" title=" mask-wearing"> mask-wearing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=policymaking%20implications" title=" policymaking implications"> policymaking implications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=political%20affiliations" title=" political affiliations"> political affiliations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=religious%20beliefs" title=" religious beliefs"> religious beliefs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=United%20States" title=" United States"> United States</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130731/social-influences-on-americans-mask-wearing-behavior-during-covid-19" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130731.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">234</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">580</span> Quantification of Site Nonlinearity Based on HHT Analysis of Seismic Recordings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruichong%20Zhang">Ruichong Zhang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study proposes a recording-based approach to characterize and quantify earthquake-induced site nonlinearity, exemplified as soil nonlinearity and/or liquefaction. A novel technique for Feature Extraction (FE) has been presented here, further a new method has been used for human emotion recognition which is based on HHT method. This method is feasible for analyzing the nonlinear and non-stationary signals. Each signal has been decomposed into the IMF using the EMD. These functions are used to extract the features using fission and fusion process. The decomposition technique which we adopt is a new technique for adaptively decomposing signals. In this perspective, we have reported here potential usefulness of EMD based techniques. We evaluated the algorithm on Augsburg University Database; the manually annotated database. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrinsic%20mode%20function%20%28IMF%29" title="intrinsic mode function (IMF)">intrinsic mode function (IMF)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hilbert-Huang%20transform%20%28HHT%29" title=" Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT)"> Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=empirical%20mode%20decomposition%20%28EMD%29" title=" empirical mode decomposition (EMD)"> empirical mode decomposition (EMD)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotion%20detection" title=" emotion detection"> emotion detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrocardiogram%20%28ECG%29" title=" electrocardiogram (ECG)"> electrocardiogram (ECG)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19551/analysis-of-nonlinear-and-non-stationary-signal-to-extract-the-features-using-hilbert-huang-transform" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19551.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">581</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">578</span> Multi-Path Signal Synchronization Model with Phase Length Constraints</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tzu-Jung%20Huang">Tzu-Jung Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsun-Jung%20Cho"> Hsun-Jung Cho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chien-Chia%20Li%C3%A4m%20Huang"> Chien-Chia Liäm Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To improve the level of service (LoS) of urban arterial systems containing a series of signalized intersections, a proper design of offsets for all intersections associated is of great importance. The MAXBAND model has been the most common approach for this purpose. In this paper, we propose a MAXBAND model with phase constraints so that the lengths of the phases in a cycle are variable. In other words, the length of a cycle is also variable in our setting. We conduct experiments on a real-world traffic network, having several major paths, in Taiwan for numerical evaluations. Actual traffic data were collected through on-site experiments. Numerical evidences suggest that the improvements are around 32%, on average, in terms of total delay of the entire network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arterial%20progression" title="arterial progression">arterial progression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MAXBAND" title=" MAXBAND"> MAXBAND</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=signal%20control" title=" signal control"> signal control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=offset" title=" offset"> offset</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63250/multi-path-signal-synchronization-model-with-phase-length-constraints" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63250.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">358</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">577</span> Microfluidic Synthesis of Chlorophyll Extraction–Loaded PCL Composite Microparticles Developed as Health Food</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ching-Ju%20Hsiao">Ching-Ju Hsiao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mao-Chen%20Huang"> Mao-Chen Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pei-Fan%20Chen"> Pei-Fan Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ruo-Yun%20Chung"> Ruo-Yun Chung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiun-Hua%20Chou"> Jiun-Hua Chou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Hui%20Yang"> Chih-Hui Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Keng-Shiang%20Huang"> Keng-Shiang Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jei-Fu%20Shaw"> Jei-Fu Shaw</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Chlorophyll has many benefits for human body. This characteristic causes that human body is difficult to absorb Chl effective components. In order to solve this problem, we utilize polycaprolactone (PCL) polymer encapsulation technology to increase the stability of Chl. COP uses H2O2 to transform boric acid to perborates which can easily precipitate with barium ions at room temperature. However, the generation of the waste sludge that requires sludge/water separation and sludge dewatering is troublesome. This work presents an innovative technology which integrates chemical oxo-precipitation (COP) with fluidized-bed homogeneous granulation (FBHG) to reclaim boron as homogeneous perborate particles. By conducting COP in a fluidized-bed reactor, the barium perborate can be granulated to form homogeneous particles (>1.0 mm) with low water content (< 10%). This study aims to measure the perception of QoL and to find the effect on satisfaction and intent to return for distance runners. Exploratory factor analysis is carried out to extract four major factorial dimensions of QoL, including multiple functions, spiritual, physical and cognitive factors. The main factors of QoL will be introduced into the regression function on satisfaction and return intention. However, creating a real-world document processing system needs to integrate several NLP and CV tasks, rather than treating them separately. There is a need to have a unified approach for processing documents containing textual and graphical elements with rich formats, diverse layout arrangement, and distinct semantics. In this paper, a framework that fulfills this unified approach is presented. The framework includes a representation model definition for holding the information generated by various tasks and specifications defining the coordination between these tasks. The framework is a blueprint for building a system that can process documents with rich formats, styles, and multiple types of elements. The flexible and lightweight design of the framework can help build a system for diverse business scenarios, such as contract monitoring and reviewing. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=document%20processing" title="document processing">document processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=framework" title=" framework"> framework</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formal%20definition" title=" formal definition"> formal definition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126703/docpro-a-framework-for-processing-semantic-and-layout-information-in-business-documents" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126703.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">218</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">572</span> Longitudinal Vortices Mixing in Three-Stream Micromixers with Two Inlets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Tun%20Huang">Yi-Tun Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chih-Yang%20Wu"> Chih-Yang Wu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shu-Wei%20Huang"> Shu-Wei Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this work, we examine fluid mixing in a full three-stream mixing channel with longitudinal vortex generators (LVGs) built on the channel bottom by numerical simulation and experiment. The effects of the asymmetrical arrangement and the attack angle of the LVGs on fluid mixing are investigated. The results show that the micromixer with LVGs at a small asymmetry index (defined by the ratio of the distance from the center plane of the gap between the winglets to the center plane of the main channel to the width of the main channel) is superior to the micromixer with symmetric LVGs and that with LVGs at a large asymmetry index. The micromixer using five mixing modules of the LVGs with an attack angle between 16.5 degrees and 22.5 degrees can achieve excellent mixing over a wide range of Reynolds numbers. Here, we call a section of channel with two pairs of staggered asymmetrical LVGs a mixing module. Besides, the micromixer with LVGs at a small attack angle is more efficient than that with a larger attack angle when pressure losses are taken into account. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microfluidics" title="microfluidics">microfluidics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixing" title=" mixing"> mixing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=longitudinal%20vortex%20generators" title=" longitudinal vortex generators"> longitudinal vortex generators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two%20stream%20interfaces" title=" two stream interfaces"> two stream interfaces</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7216/longitudinal-vortices-mixing-in-three-stream-micromixers-with-two-inlets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7216.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">521</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">571</span> Effects of Structure on Density-Induced Flow in Coastal and Estuarine Navigation Channel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shuo%20Huang">Shuo Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huomiao%20Guo"> Huomiao Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenrui%20Huang"> Wenrui Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In navigation channels located in coasts and estuaries as the waterways connecting coastal water to ports or harbors, density-induced flow often exist due to the density-gradient or gravity gradient as the results of mixing between fresh water from coastal rivers and saline water in the coasts. The density-induced flow often carries sediment transport into navigation channels and causes sediment depositions in the channels. As a result, expensive dredging may need to maintain the water depth required for navigation. In our study, we conduct a series of experiments to investigate the characteristics of density-induced flow in the estuarine navigation channels under different density gradients. Empirical equations between density flow and salinity gradient were derived. Effects of coastal structures for regulating navigation channel on density-induced flow have also been investigated. Results will be very helpful for improving the understanding of the characteristics of density-induced flow in estuarine navigation channels. We propose a CoFeB/Ta/CoFeB tri-layer antiferromagnetic SOT device that could meet the above requirements. The device’s PMA was developed by adopting CoFeB–MgO interface. The key to the success of this structure is to ensure that (i)changes of the inter-layer coupling(IEC) and CoFeB anisotropy can occur simultaneously; (ii) one of the CoFeB needs to have a slightly tilted moment in the beginning. When sufficient current is given, the SHEreverses the already-tiltedCoFeB, and the other CoFeB can be reversed simultaneously by the IEC with the field-free nature. Adjusting the thickness of Ta can modify the coupling state to reduce the switching current while the field-free nature was preserved. Micromagnetic simulation suggests that the Néel orange peel effect (NOPE) is non-negligible due to interface roughness and coupling effect in the presence of perpendicular anisotropy. Fortunately, the Néel field induced by the NOPE appears to favor the field-free reversal. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CoFeB" title="CoFeB">CoFeB</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spin-orbit%20torque" title=" spin-orbit torque"> spin-orbit torque</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antiferromagnetic" title=" antiferromagnetic"> antiferromagnetic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MRAM" title=" MRAM"> MRAM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trilayer" title=" trilayer"> trilayer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357/a-potential-spin-orbit-torque-device-using-the-tri-layer-structure" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158357.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">569</span> Particle Filter State Estimation Algorithm Based on Improved Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guangyuan%20Zhao">Guangyuan Zhao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nan%20Huang"> Nan Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xuesong%20Han"> Xuesong Han</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xu%20Huang"> Xu Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to solve the problem of sample dilution in the traditional particle filter algorithm and achieve accurate state estimation in a nonlinear system, a particle filter method based on an improved artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm was proposed. The algorithm simulated the process of bee foraging and optimization and made the high likelihood region of the backward probability of particles moving to improve the rationality of particle distribution. The opposition-based learning (OBL) strategy is introduced to optimize the initial population of the artificial bee colony algorithm. The convergence factor is introduced into the neighborhood search strategy to limit the search range and improve the convergence speed. Finally, the crossover and mutation operations of the genetic algorithm are introduced into the search mechanism of the following bee, which makes the algorithm jump out of the local extreme value quickly and continue to search the global extreme value to improve its optimization ability. It is an important work for the world to study the ancient civilizations and medical history of China. Language in HDNJ is highly concise and vague, and notably challenging to translate. This paper investigates the translatability of one particular vagueness in HDNJ: the conceptual vagueness which carries the Chinese philosophical and cultural connotations. The corpora tool Sketch Engine is used to provide potential online contexts and word behaviors. Selected two English translations of HDNJ by TCM practitioner and non-practitioner are used to examine frequency and distribution of linguistic features of the translation. It was found the hypothesis about the universals of translated language (explicitation, normalisation) is true in one translation, but it is on the sacrifice of some original contextual connotations. Transliteration is purposefully used in the second translation to retain the original flavor, which is argued as a violation of the principle of relevance in communication because it yields little contextual effects and demands more processing effort of the reader. The translatability of conceptual vagueness in HDNJ is constrained by source language context and the reader’s cognitive environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corpus-based%20translation" title="corpus-based translation">corpus-based translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=translatability" title=" translatability"> translatability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TCM%20classics" title=" TCM classics"> TCM classics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vague%20language" title=" vague language"> vague language</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95082/corpus-based-analysis-on-the-translatability-of-conceptual-vagueness-in-traditional-chinese-medicine-classics-huang-di-nei-jing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95082.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">377</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">567</span> Up-regulation of KRT14 Promotes EMT in Basal Muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer through IGF2BP1/FTO Dependence on Methyladenosine-modified SNAI1</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shirui%20Huang">Shirui Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wei%20Chen"> Wei Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chuanshu%20Huang"> Chuanshu Huang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Basal muscle-invasive bladder cancer (BMIBC) is considered one of the subtypes of BC with the highest metastatic rate and the poorest prognosis. Therefore, elucidating the mechanisms underlying BMIBC metastasis and identifying novel precision therapeutic targets are current research hotspots and challenges to cancer researchers. Through a series of in vitro and in vivo functional experiments, we have identified the crucial role of KRT14 in the high invasiveness and adverse prognosis of BMIBC. We found that the K294 site within the IGF2BP1-KH2 domain is responsible for reading the conserved genetic information carried by D226/E227 in the KRT14 nuclear export signal (NES). Activation of the KRT14-IGF2BP1 signaling axis is essential for IGF2BP1-mediated stabilization of SNAI1 mRNA through FTO modification. Additionally, IGF2BP1 forms a positive feedback loop by stabilizing its own mRNA, thereby accelerating the invasion and metastasis of BMIBC. Collectively, our study identifies the KRT14/IGF2BP1/FTO/Snail signaling axis as an essential regulatory mechanism associated with poor prognosis in BMIBC, providing a theoretical basis for KRT14 and its downstream regulated molecules as therapeutic targets for BMIBC and the development of corresponding targeted therapies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BMIBC" title="BMIBC">BMIBC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=KRT4" title=" KRT4"> KRT4</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IFGF2BP1" title=" IFGF2BP1"> IFGF2BP1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA%20methylation" title=" DNA methylation"> DNA methylation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194686/up-regulation-of-krt14-promotes-emt-in-basal-muscle-invasive-bladder-cancer-through-igf2bp1fto-dependence-on-methyladenosine-modified-snai1" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/194686.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">13</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">566</span> Study on an Integrated Real-Time Sensor in Droplet-Based Microfluidics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tien-Li%20Chang">Tien-Li Chang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huang-Chi%20Huang"> Huang-Chi Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhao-Chi%20Chen"> Zhao-Chi Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wun-Yi%20Chen"> Wun-Yi Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The droplet-based microfluidic are used as micro-reactors for chemical and biological assays. Hence, the precise addition of reagents into the droplets is essential for this function in the scope of lab-on-a-chip applications. To obtain the characteristics (size, velocity, pressure, and frequency of production) of droplets, this study describes an integrated on-chip method of real-time signal detection. By controlling and manipulating the fluids, the flow behavior can be obtained in the droplet-based microfluidics. The detection method is used a type of infrared sensor. Through the varieties of droplets in the microfluidic devices, the real-time conditions of velocity and pressure are gained from the sensors. Here the microfluidic devices are fabricated by polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). To measure the droplets, the signal acquisition of sensor and LabVIEW program control must be established in the microchannel devices. The devices can generate the different size droplets where the flow rate of oil phase is fixed 30 μl/hr and the flow rates of water phase range are from 20 μl/hr to 80 μl/hr. The experimental results demonstrate that the sensors are able to measure the time difference of droplets under the different velocity at the voltage from 0 V to 2 V. Consequently, the droplets are measured the fastest speed of 1.6 mm/s and related flow behaviors that can be helpful to develop and integrate the practical microfluidic applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microfluidic" title="microfluidic">microfluidic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=droplets" title=" droplets"> droplets</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensors" title=" sensors"> sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single%20detection" title=" single detection"> single detection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24600/study-on-an-integrated-real-time-sensor-in-droplet-based-microfluidics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24600.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">493</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">565</span> Deep Learning Application for Object Image Recognition and Robot Automatic Grasping</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shiuh-Jer%20Huang">Shiuh-Jer Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Zon%20Yan"> Chen-Zon Yan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20K.%20Huang"> C. Here, deep learning algorithm is employed in image system to recognize the industrial object and integrate with a 7A6 Series Manipulator for object automatic gripping task. PC and Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) are chosen to construct the 3D Vision Recognition System. Depth Camera (Intel RealSense SR300) is employed to extract the image for object recognition and coordinate derivation. The YOLOv2 scheme is adopted in Convolution neural network (CNN) structure for object classification and center point prediction. Additionally, image processing strategy is used to find the object contour for calculating the object orientation angle. Then, the specified object location and orientation information are sent to robotic controller. Finally, a six-axis manipulator can grasp the specific object in a random environment based on the user command and the extracted image information. The experimental results show that YOLOv2 has been successfully employed to detect the object location and category with confidence near 0.9 and 3D position error less than 0.4 mm. It is useful for future intelligent robotic application in industrial 4.0 environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20learning" title="deep learning">deep learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20processing" title=" image processing"> image processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=convolution%20neural%20network" title=" convolution neural network"> convolution neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=YOLOv2" title=" YOLOv2"> YOLOv2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=7A6%20series%20manipulator" title=" 7A6 series manipulator"> 7A6 series manipulator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110468/deep-learning-application-for-object-image-recognition-and-robot-automatic-grasping" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/110468.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">250</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">564</span> Optimization of Topology-Aware Job Allocation on a High-Performance Computing Cluster by Neural Simulated Annealing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zekang%20Lan">Zekang Lan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yan%20Xu"> Yan Xu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yingkun%20Huang"> Yingkun Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dian%20Huang"> Dian Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shengzhong%20Feng"> Shengzhong Feng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Jobs on high-performance computing (HPC) clusters can suffer significant performance degradation due to inter-job network interference. Topology-aware job allocation problem (TJAP) is such a problem that decides how to dedicate nodes to specific applications to mitigate inter-job network interference. In this paper, we study the window-based TJAP on a fat-tree network aiming at minimizing the cost of communication hop, a defined inter-job interference metric. The window-based approach for scheduling repeats periodically, taking the jobs in the queue and solving an assignment problem that maps jobs to the available nodes. Two special allocation strategies are considered, i.e., static continuity assignment strategy (SCAS) and dynamic continuity assignment strategy (DCAS). For the SCAS, a 0-1 integer programming is developed. For the DCAS, an approach called neural simulated algorithm (NSA), which is an extension to simulated algorithm (SA) that learns a repair operator and employs them in a guided heuristic search, is proposed. The efficacy of NSA is demonstrated with a computational study against SA and SCIP. The results of numerical experiments indicate that both the model and algorithm proposed in this paper are effective. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high-performance%20computing" title="high-performance computing">high-performance computing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=job%20allocation" title=" job allocation"> job allocation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neural%20simulated%20annealing" title=" neural simulated annealing"> neural simulated annealing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=topology-aware" title=" topology-aware"> topology-aware</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160964/optimization-of-topology-aware-job-allocation-on-a-high-performance-computing-cluster-by-neural-simulated-annealing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/160964.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">563</span> Effects of New Anthraquinone Derivatives on Resistance Ovarian Cancer Cells and The Mechanism Investigation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hui-Hsin%20Huang">Hui-Hsin Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheng-Tung%20Huang"> Sheng-Tung Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chi-Ming%20Lee"> Chi-Ming Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chiao-Han%20Yen"> Chiao-Han Yen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Mao%20Lin"> Chun-Mao Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> At initiation stage, there are no symptoms at initiation stage; however, at late stage, patients suffer symptoms as soon as ovarian cancer metastasis. Moreover, ovarian cancer cells are resistant to some anti-ovarian cancer drugs in clinical. Thus, it is very important to find an effective treatment for resistant ovarian cancer. Anthraquinone derivatives are able to induce DNA damage and lead to cell apoptosis, so several derivatives have been used for clinical application. Therefore, to explore more effective anti-ovarian cancer drugs, this study investigates the mechanism of three new anthraquinone compounds bearing different functional groups to camptothecin-resistance ovarian cell line A2780R2000. Cell viability was determined by MTT assay after treating A2780R2000 with the three new anthraquinone compounds. The results indicated that IC50 values are 33.44μM (Compound I), 25.77μM (Compound II) and 24.59μM (Compound III). Next, through cell cycle analysis, the results demonstrated that three new anthraquinone compounds not only induced A2780R2000 cell cycle arrest at early stage but also apoptosis at late stage. Besides, through apoptosis assay, the results indicated new anthraquinone compound induced apoptosis at late stage. Furthermore, the results of western blot show that the three new anthraquinone compounds lead to A2780R2000 apoptosis through intrinsic pathway. Theses results suggested that three new anthraquinone compounds may be potential new drugs for clinical cancer treatment in the future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anthraquinone" title="anthraquinone">anthraquinone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=camptothecin" title=" camptothecin"> camptothecin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resistance" title=" resistance"> resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ovarian%20cancer" title=" ovarian cancer"> ovarian cancer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44883/effects-of-new-anthraquinone-derivatives-on-resistance-ovarian-cancer-cells-and-the-mechanism-investigation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/44883.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">395</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">562</span> Distributing Complementary Food Supplement - Yingyangbao Reducing the Anemia in Young Children in a County of Sichuan Province after Wenchuan Earthquake</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lijuan%20Wang">Lijuan Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Junsheng%20Huo"> Junsheng Huo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Sun"> Jing Sun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenxian%20Li"> Wenxian Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jian%20Huang"> Jian Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lin%20Ling"> Lin Ling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yiping%20Zhou"> Yiping Zhou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chengyu%20Huang"> Chengyu Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jifang%20Hu"> Jifang Hu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Backgrounds and Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of highly nutrient-dense complementary food supplement-Yingyangbao, at the time of 3 months after Wenchuan earthquake, on the anemia of young children in a county in Sichuan province. Methods: The young children aged 6-23 months in the county were fed one sachet Yingyangbao per day. Yingyangbao were distributed for 15 months for free. The children entering 6 months age would be included. The length, weight and hemoglobin of the children aged 6-29 months were assessed at baseline (n=257) and Yingyangbao intervention for 6 (n=218) and 15 months (n=253) by cluster sampling. Growth status has not been described in the paper. The analysis was conducted based on 6-11, 12-17, 18-23 and 24-29 months. Results: It showed that the hemoglobin concentration in each group among the 4 groups increased by 4.9, 6.4, 8.0, 9.5 g/L after 6 months and 12.7, 11.4, 16.7, 15.7 g/L after 15 months compared to the baseline, respectively. The total anemia prevalence in each group was significantly lower after 6 and 15 months than the baseline (P<0.001), except the 6-11 months group after 6 months because of fewer Yingyangbao consumption. Total moderate anemia rate decreased from 18.3% to 5.5% after 6 months, and kept decreasing to 0.8% after another 9 months. The hemoglobin concentration was significantly correlated with the amount of Yingyangbao consumption(P<0.001) The anemia rate was significantly different based on the Yingyangbao compliance (P<0.001). Conclusion: It was concluded that Yingyangbao which contains quality protein, vitamins and micronutrients intervened 15 months could be effective for the improvement of anemia of young children. Dendrobium nobile Lindl. Alkaloids (DNLA) as one of the active compounds of Dendrobium nobile Lindl. In this study, we attempted to verify the hypoglycemic effect and investigate the effects of DNLA on the amyloid precursor protein (APP) metabolic pathway of the hippocampus in db/db mice. Methods: 4-weeks-old male C57BL/KsJ mice were the control group. And the same age and sexuality db/db mice were: model, DNLA-L (20 mg/kg), DNLA-M (40 mg/kg), and DNLA-H (80 mg/kg). After, mice were treated with different concentrations of DNLA for 17 weeks. The fasting blood glucose (FBG) was detected by glucose oxidase assay every week from the 4th to last week. The protein expression of β-amyloid 1-42 (Aβ1-42), β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1), and APP were examined by Western blotting. Results: The concentration of FBG and the protein expression of Aβ1-42, BACE1, and APP were increased in the hippocampus of the model group. Moreover, DNLA not only significantly decreased the concentration of FBG but also reduced the protein expressions of Aβ1-42, BACE1 and APP in the hippocampus of db/db mice in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusions: DNLA can decrease the protein expressions of Aβ1-42 in the hippocampus of db/db mice, and the mechanism may be involved in the APP metabolic pathway. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alzheimer%27s%20disease" title="Alzheimer's disease">Alzheimer's disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=type%202%20diabetes%20mellitus" title=" type 2 diabetes mellitus"> type 2 diabetes mellitus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%CE%B2-site%20amyloid%20precursor%20protein-cleaving%20enzyme%201" title=" β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1"> β-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme 1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traditional%20Chinese%20medicines" title=" traditional Chinese medicines"> traditional Chinese medicines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beta-amyloid" title=" beta-amyloid"> beta-amyloid</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152548/the-effect-of-dendrobium-nobile-lindl-alkaloids-on-the-blood-glucose-and-amyloid-precursor-protein-metabolic-pathways-in-dbdb-mice" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152548.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">255</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">560</span> Ultradrawing and Ultimate Tensile Properties of Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene Composite Fibers Filled with Activated Nanocarbon Particles with Varying Specific Surface Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang-Xi%20Fan">Wang-Xi Fan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi%20Ding"> Yi Ding</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhong-Dan%20Tu"> Zhong-Dan Tu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kuo-Shien%20Huang"> Kuo-Shien Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chao-Ming%20Huang"> Chao-Ming Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jen-Taut%20%20Yeh"> Jen-Taut Yeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Original and/or functionalized activated nanocarbon particles with a quoted specific surface area of 100, 500, 1000 and 1400 m2/g, respectively, were used to investigate the influence of specific surface areas of activated nanocarbon on ultra drawing and ultimate tensile properties of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), UHMWPE/activated nanocarbon and UHMWPE/ functionalized activated nanocarbon fibers. However, it is almost impossible for many laboratories to handle and analysis these “BIG” data without the support from a bioinformatics team. We aimed to provide a web-based analysis platform for users with only limited knowledge on bio-computing to study the functional genomics and proteomics. Method: We use NCI-60 as an example dataset to demonstrate the power of the web-based analysis platform and data delivering system: C-eXpress takes a simple text file that contain the standard NCBI gene or protein ID and expression levels (rpkm or fold) as input file to generate a distribution map of gene/protein expression levels in a heatmap diagram organized by color gradients. The diagram is hyper-linked to a dynamic html table that allows the users to filter the datasets based on various gene features. A dynamic summary chart is generated automatically after each filtering process. Results: We implemented an integrated database that contain pre-defined annotations such as gene/protein properties (ID, name, length, MW, pI); pathways based on KEGG and GO biological process; subcellular localization based on GO cellular component; functional classification based on GO molecular function, kinase, peptidase and transporter. An approach used in these last is prediction of tridimensional structure based in the residue chain, however, this has been proved an NP-hard problem, due to the complexity of this process, explained by the Levinthal paradox. An alternative solution is the prediction of intermediary structures, such as the secondary structure of the protein. Artificial Intelligence methods, such as Bayesian statistics, artificial neural networks (ANN), support vector machines (SVM), among others, were used to predict protein secondary structure. Due to its good results, artificial neural networks have been used as a standard method to predict protein secondary structure. Recent published methods that use this technique, in general, achieved a Q3 accuracy between 75% and 83%, whereas the theoretical accuracy limit for protein prediction is 88%. Alternatively, to achieve better results, support vector machines prediction methods have been developed. The statistical evaluation of methods that use different AI techniques, such as ANNs and SVMs, for example, is not a trivial problem, since different training sets, validation techniques, as well as other variables can influence the behavior of a prediction method. In this study, we propose a prediction method based on artificial neural networks, which is then compared with a selected SVM method. The chosen SVM protein secondary structure prediction method is the one proposed by Huang in his work Extracting Physico chemical Features to Predict Protein Secondary Structure (2013). The developed ANN method has the same training and testing process that was used by Huang to validate his method, which comprises the use of the CB513 protein data set and three-fold cross-validation, so that the comparative analysis of the results can be made comparing directly the statistical results of each method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neural%20networks" title="artificial neural networks">artificial neural networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein%20secondary%20structure" title=" protein secondary structure"> protein secondary structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein%20structure%20prediction" title=" protein structure prediction"> protein structure prediction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=support%20vector%20machines" title=" support vector machines"> support vector machines</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22850/comparison-of-different-artificial-intelligence-based-protein-secondary-structure-prediction-methods" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22850.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">621</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">554</span> The Diverse and Flexible Coping Strategies Simulation for Maanshan Nuclear Power Plant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chin-Hsien%20Yeh">Chin-Hsien Yeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shao-Wen%20Chen"> Shao-Wen Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wen-Shu%20Huang"> Wen-Shu Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Fu%20Huang"> Chun-Fu Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jong-Rong%20Wang"> Jong-Rong Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jung-Hua%20Yang"> Jung-Hua Yang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yuh-Ming%20Ferng"> Yuh-Ming Ferng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chunkuan%20Shih"> Chunkuan Shih</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this research, a Fukushima-like conditions is simulated with TRACE and RELAP5. Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) occurred the disaster which caused by the earthquake and tsunami. This disaster caused extended loss of all AC power (ELAP). Hence, loss of ultimate heat sink (LUHS) happened finally. In order to handle Fukushima-like conditions, Taiwan Atomic Energy Council (AEC) commanded that Taiwan Power Company should propose strategies to ensure the nuclear power plant safety. One of the diverse and flexible coping strategies (FLEX) is a different water injection strategy. It can execute core injection at 20 Kg/cm2 without depressurization. In this study, TRACE and RELAP5 were used to simulate Maanshan nuclear power plant, which is a three loops PWR in Taiwan, under Fukushima-like conditions and make sure the success criteria of FLEX. Reducing core cooling ability is due to failure of emergency core cooling system (ECCS) in extended loss of all AC power situation. The core water level continues to decline because of the seal leakage, and then FLEX is used to save the core water level and make fuel rods covered by water. The result shows that this mitigation strategy can cool the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) as soon as possible under Fukushima-like conditions, and keep the core water level higher than Top of Active Fuel (TAF). The FLEX can ensure the peak cladding temperature (PCT) below than the criteria 1088.7 K. Finally, the FLEX can provide protection for nuclear power plant and make plant safety. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
