Some of the major challenges faced by the world today include high building energy consumption, uncertain sea level estimation, rising soil and coastal erosion, inadequate water quality, dwindling groundwater resources, increasing traffic congestion, poor infrastructure resilience to disasters, deteriorating infrastructure, the necessity for improved mining and coal ash waste disposal methods, and low construction site safety. Civil engineers are often tasked with finding solutions to these challenges. Their work frequently involves creating intricate numerical or mathematical models to handle vast amounts of data and conducting repeated experimental studies.
