class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> People’s tendency towards living in apartment houses is increasing in a densely populated country. However, some residents living in apartment houses are bothered by noise coming from the houses above. In order to reduce noise pollution, the communities are increasingly imposing a bylaw, including the limitation of floor impact sound, minimum thickness of floors, and floor soundproofing solutions. This research effort focused on the specific long-time deflection of resilient materials in the floor sound insulation systems of apartment houses. The experimental program consisted of testing nine floor sound insulation specimens subjected to sustained load for 45 days. Two main parameters were considered in the experimental investigation: three types of resilient materials and magnitudes of loads. The test results indicated that the structural behavior of the floor sound insulation systems under long-time load was quite different from that the systems under short-time load. The loading period increased the deflection of floor sound insulation systems and the increasing rate of the long-time deflection of the systems with ethylene vinyl acetate was smaller than that of the systems with low density ethylene polystyrene. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resilient%20materials" title="resilient materials">resilient materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20sound%20insulation%20systems" title=" floor sound insulation systems"> floor sound insulation systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=long-time%20deflection" title=" long-time deflection"> long-time deflection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustained%20load" title=" sustained load"> sustained load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=noise%20pollution" title=" noise pollution"> noise pollution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8489/long-term-structural-behavior-of-resilient-materials-for-reduction-of-floor-impact-sound" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8489.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">268</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10588</span> The Effect of Floor Impact Sound Insulation Performance Using Scrambled Thermoplastic Poly Urethane and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bonsoo%20Koo">Bonsoo Koo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seong%20Shin%20Hong"> Seong Shin Hong</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Byung%20Kwon%20Lee"> Byung Kwon Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Most of apartments in Korea have wall type structure that present poor performance regarding floor impact sound insulation. In order to minimize the transmission of floor impact sound, flooring structures are used in which an insulating material, 30 mm thickness pad of EPS or EVA, is sandwiched between a concrete slab and the finished mortar. Generally, a single-material pad used for insulation has a heavyweight impact sound level of 44~47 dB with 210 mm thickness slab. This study provides an analysis of the floor impact sound insulation performance using thermoplastic poly urethane (TPU), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), and expanded polystyrene (EPS) materials with buffering performance. Following mock-up tests the effect of lightweight impact sound turned out to be similar but heavyweight impact sound was decreased by 3 dB compared to conventional single material insulation pad. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20impact%20sound" title="floor impact sound">floor impact sound</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermoplastic%20poly%20urethane" title=" thermoplastic poly urethane"> thermoplastic poly urethane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethylene%20vinyl%20acetate" title=" ethylene vinyl acetate"> ethylene vinyl acetate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavyweight%20impact%20sound" title=" heavyweight impact sound"> heavyweight impact sound</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84146/the-effect-of-floor-impact-sound-insulation-performance-using-scrambled-thermoplastic-poly-urethane-and-ethylene-vinyl-acetate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84146.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">404</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10587</span> Development of Prediction Tool for Sound Absorption and Sound Insulation for Sound Proof Properties</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yoshio%20Kurosawa">Yoshio Kurosawa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Takao%20Yamaguchi"> Takao Yamaguchi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> High frequency automotive interior noise above 500 Hz considerably affects automotive passenger comfort. The Acoubat software numerical simulation has been used to simulate the impact noise transmission through different floor configurations used in Algerian construction mode. The results are compared with the available measurements. We have developed two experimental methods, i) field method, and ii) laboratory method using Brüel and Kjær equipments. The results show that the different cases of floor configurations need some improvement to ensure the acoustic comfort in the receiving apartment. The recommended value of the impact sound level in the receiving room should not exceed 58 dB. The important results obtained in this paper can be used as platform to improve the Algerian building acoustic regulation aimed at the construction of the multi-storey residential building. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20noise" title="impact noise">impact noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20acoustic" title=" building acoustic"> building acoustic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20insulation" title=" floor insulation"> floor insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resilient%20material" title=" resilient material"> resilient material</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43697/sound-insulation-between-buildings-the-impact-noise-transmission-through-different-floor-configurations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/43697.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">373</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10585</span> Thermal Insulation, Sound Insulation, and Tensile Properties of Epoxy-Silica Aerogel and Epoxy-Polystyrene Composites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20Ucar">Mehmet Ucar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nuray%20Ucar"> Nuray Ucar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Both thermal insulation and sound insulation play a key role in energy saving and the quality of life. In this study, the effects of different fillers, such as silica aerogel and polystyrene, on the tensile strength, thermal insulation, and sound insulation of epoxy composites have been analyzed. Results from the experimental studies show that both tensile strength and insulation properties (sound and thermal insulation) of the epoxy composite increased by the use of silica aerogel additive. Polystyrene additive significantly increases the sound absorption coefficient of the epoxy composite. To carry out such tests, the standardised reverberation room separated by a standard floor from the second measuring room are required. The need to have a special laboratory results in high cost and low accessibility of this measurement. The authors propose their own engineering method to measure the impact sound improvement with floor coverings. This method does not require standard rooms and floor. This paper describes the measurement procedure of proposed engineering method. Further, verification tests were performed. Validation of the proposed method was based on the analytical model, Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) model and empirical measurements. The received results were related to corresponding ones obtained from ISO 10140-3:2010 measurements. The study confirmed the usefulness of the engineering method. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20acoustic" title="building acoustic">building acoustic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20noise" title=" impact noise"> impact noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20sound%20insulation" title=" impact sound insulation"> impact sound insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impact%20sound%20transmission" title=" impact sound transmission"> impact sound transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reduction%20of%20impact%20sound" title=" reduction of impact sound"> reduction of impact sound</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78691/engineering-method-to-measure-the-impact-sound-improvement-with-floor-coverings" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78691.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">324</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10583</span> Laboratory Evaluation of the Airborne Sound Insulation of Plasterboard Sandwich Panels Filled with Recycled Textile Material</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Svetlana%20Trifonova%20Djambova">Svetlana Trifonova Djambova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Natalia%20Bobeva%20Ivanova"> Natalia Bobeva Ivanova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roumiana%20Asenova%20Zaharieva"> Roumiana Asenova Zaharieva</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Small size acoustic chamber test method has been applied to experimentally evaluate and compare the airborne sound insulation provided by plasterboard sandwich panels filled with mineral wool and with its alternative from recycled textile material (produced by two different technologies). The experimental results of one of the recycled textile material specimens have demonstrated sound insulation properties similar to those of the mineral wool specimen and even superior in the 1600-3150 Hz frequency range. As a new approach, first the wall’s thermal insulation sufficiency’s were calculated and then, artificial neural network (ANN) modeling was used on their cross sections to check if they are sound transmitters too. The ANN was trained and tested by using MATLAB toolbox on a personal computer. ANN input parameters that used were thickness of lightweight concrete wall, frequency and density of lightweight concrete wall, while the transmitted sound was the output parameter. When the results of the TS analysis and those of ANN modeling are evaluated together, it is found from this study, that sound transmit loss increases at higher frequencies, higher wall densities and with larger wall cross sections. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neuron%20network" title="artificial neuron network">artificial neuron network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lightweight%20concrete" title=" lightweight concrete"> lightweight concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20insulation" title=" sound insulation"> sound insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20transmit%20loss" title=" sound transmit loss"> sound transmit loss</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41076/analysis-of-sound-loss-from-the-highway-traffic-through-lightweight-insulating-concrete-walls-and-artificial-neural-network-modeling-of-sound-transmission" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41076.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">252</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10581</span> Experimental Study on the Floor Vibration Evaluation of Concrete Slab for Existing Buildings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-Taeg%20Lee">Yong-Taeg Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun-Ho%20Na"> Jun-Ho Na</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seung-Hun%20Kim"> Seung-Hun Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seong-Uk%20Hong"> Seong-Uk Hong</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Damages from noise and vibration are increasing every year, most of which are noises between floors in deteriorated building caused by floor impact sound. Experimentally, the sound insulation of the panels has been evaluated for frequencies in the range of 600 Hz to 4000 Hz, utilizing a small-sized acoustic chamber. Additionally, the sound absorption coefficient for the frequency range of 63 Hz to 4000 Hz was measured according to the EN ISO 354 standard in a laboratory reverberation room. This research was deemed necessary after conducting reverberation time measurements of a university classroom following the EN ISO 3382-2 standard. The measurements indicated values of 2.86 s at 500 Hz, 3.23 s at 1000 Hz, and 2.53 s at 2000 Hz, which significantly exceeded the requirements set by the national regulatory framework (0.6s) for such premises. For this reason, recycled felt panels have been investigated in the laboratory, showing very good acoustic properties at high frequencies. To enhance performance in the low frequencies, the influence of the distance of the panel spacing was examined. Furthermore, the sound insulation of the panels was studied to expand the possibilities of their application, both for the acoustic treatment of educational and multifunctional halls and for sound insulation purposes (e.g., a suspended ceiling with an air gap passing from room to room). As a conclusion, a theoretical acoustic design of the classroom has been carried out with suggestions for improvements to achieve the necessary acoustic and aesthetic parameters for such rooms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustic%20panels" title="acoustic panels">acoustic panels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recycled%20felt" title=" recycled felt"> recycled felt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20absorption" title=" sound absorption"> sound absorption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20insulation" title=" sound insulation"> sound insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classroom%20acoustics" title=" classroom acoustics"> classroom acoustics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167058/investigation-of-the-acoustic-properties-of-recycled-felt-panels-and-their-application-in-classrooms-and-multi-purpose-halls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167058.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">90</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10579</span> Acoustic and Thermal Insulating Materials Based on Natural Fibres Used in Floor Construction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jitka%20Hroudova">Jitka Hroudova</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiri%20Zach"> Jiri Zach</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The majority of contemporary insulation materials commonly used in the building industry is made from non-renewable raw materials; furthermore, their production often brings high energy costs. A long-term trend as far as sustainable development is concerned has been the reduction of energy and material demands of building material production. One of the solutions is the possibility of using easily renewable natural raw material sources which are considerably more ecological and their production is mostly less energy-consuming compared to the production of normal insulations (mineral wool, polystyrene). The paper describes the results of research focused on the development of thermal and acoustic insulation materials based on natural fibres intended for floor constructions. Given the characteristic open porosity of natural fibre materials, the hygrothermal behaviour of the developed materials was studied. Especially the influence of relative humidity and temperature on thermal insulation properties was observed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Green%20thermal%20and%20acoustic%20insulating%20materials" title="Green thermal and acoustic insulating materials">Green thermal and acoustic insulating materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20fibres" title=" natural fibres"> natural fibres</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=technical%20hemp" title=" technical hemp"> technical hemp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flax" title=" flax"> flax</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20construction" title=" floor construction"> floor construction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15542/acoustic-and-thermal-insulating-materials-based-on-natural-fibres-used-in-floor-construction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15542.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10578</span> An Enhanced Floor Estimation Algorithm for Indoor Wireless Localization Systems Using Confidence Interval Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kriangkrai%20Maneerat">Kriangkrai Maneerat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chutima%20Prommak"> Chutima Prommak </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Indoor wireless localization systems have played an important role to enhance context-aware services. Determining the position of mobile objects in complex indoor environments, such as those in multi-floor buildings, is very challenging problems. This paper presents an effective floor estimation algorithm, which can accurately determine the floor where mobile objects located. The proposed algorithm is based on the confidence interval of the summation of online Received Signal Strength (RSS) obtained from the IEEE 802.15.4 Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with those of other floor estimation algorithms in literature by conducting a real implementation of WSN in our facility. The experimental results and analysis showed that the proposed floor estimation algorithm outperformed the other algorithms and provided highest percentage of floor accuracy up to 100% with 95-percent confidence interval. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20estimation%20algorithm" title="floor estimation algorithm">floor estimation algorithm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor%20determination" title=" floor determination"> floor determination</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-floor%20building" title=" multi-floor building"> multi-floor building</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indoor%20wireless%20systems" title=" indoor wireless systems"> indoor wireless systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9832/an-enhanced-floor-estimation-algorithm-for-indoor-wireless-localization-systems-using-confidence-interval-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9832.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">418</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10577</span> Insulation Properties of Rod-Plane Electrode Covered with ATH/SIR Nano-Composite in Dry-Air</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jae-Yong%20Sim">Jae-Yong Sim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jung-Hun%20Kwon"> Jung-Hun Kwon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ji-Sung%20Park"> Ji-Sung Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kee-Joe%20Lim"> Kee-Joe Lim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the latest trends for insulation systems to improve the insulation performance is the use of eco-friendly hybrid insulation using compressed dry-air. Despite the excellent insulation performance of sulphurhexafluoride (SF6) gas, its use has been restricted due to the problems with significant global warming potential (GWP). Accordingly, lightning impulse performance of the hybrid insulation system covered with an aluminum trihydrate/silicone rubber (ATH/SIR) nanocomposite was examined in air at atmospheric pressure and in compressed air at pressures between 0.2 and 0.6 MPa. In the experiments, the most common breakdown path took place along the surface of the covered rod. The insulation reliability after several discharges should be guaranteed in hybrid insulation. On the other hand, the surface of the covered rod was carbonized after several discharges. Therefore, nanoscale ATH can be used as a reinforcement of covered dielectrics to inhibit carbonization on the surface of a covered rod. The results were analyzed in terms of the surface resistivity of the cover dielectrics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocomposite" title="nanocomposite">nanocomposite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hybrid%20insulation" title=" hybrid insulation"> hybrid insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ATH" title=" ATH"> ATH</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry-air" title=" dry-air"> dry-air</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14050/insulation-properties-of-rod-plane-electrode-covered-with-athsir-nano-composite-in-dry-air" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14050.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">449</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10576</span> Development and Sound Absorption and Insulation Performance Evaluation of Nonwoven Fabric Material including Paper Honeycomb Structure for Insulator Covering Shelf Trim</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=In-Sung%20Lee">In-Sung Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Un-Hwan%20Park"> Un-Hwan Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun-Hyeok%20Heo"> Jun-Hyeok Heo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dae-Gyu%20Park"> Dae-Gyu Park</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Insulator Covering Shelf Trim is one of the automotive interior parts located in the rear seat of a car, and it is a component that is the most strongly demanded for impact resistance, strength, and heat resistance. It was found that body weight at slaughter age (5weeks) for boilers raised in batteries were significantly higher than those raised on the floor. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=broilers" title="broilers">broilers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cages" title=" cages"> cages</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floor" title=" floor"> floor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poultry" title=" poultry "> poultry </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29909/the-influence-of-cage-versus-floor-pen-management-of-broilers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29909.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">416</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10569</span> Dielectric Properties in Frequency Domain of Main Insulation System of Printed Circuit Board</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xize%20Dai">Xize Dai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jian%20Hao"> Jian Hao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Claus%20Leth%20Bak"> Claus Leth Bak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gian%20Carlo%20Montanari"> Gian Carlo Montanari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huai%20Wang"> Huai Wang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is a critical component applicable to power electronics systems, especially for high-voltage applications involving several high-voltage and high-frequency SiC/GaN devices. The insulation system of PCB is facing more challenges from high-voltage and high-frequency stress that can alter the dielectric properties. Dielectric properties of the PCB insulation system also determine the electrical field distribution that correlates with intrinsic and extrinsic aging mechanisms. Hence, investigating the dielectric properties in the frequency domain of the PCB insulation system is a must. The paper presents the frequency-dependent, temperature-dependent, and voltage-dependent dielectric properties, permittivity, conductivity, and dielectric loss tangents of PCB insulation systems. The dielectric properties mechanisms associated with frequency, temperature, and voltage are revealed from the design perspective. It can be concluded that the dielectric properties of PCB in the frequency domain show a strong dependence on voltage, frequency, and temperature. The voltage-, frequency-, and temperature-dependent dielectric properties are associated with intrinsic conduction behavior and polarization patterns from the perspective of dielectric theory. The results may provide some reference for the PCB insulation system design in high voltage, high frequency, and high-temperature power electronics applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrical%20insulation%20system" title="electrical insulation system">electrical insulation system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dielectric%20properties" title=" dielectric properties"> dielectric properties</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20voltage%20and%20frequency" title=" high voltage and frequency"> high voltage and frequency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=printed%20circuit%20board" title=" printed circuit board"> printed circuit board</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168071/dielectric-properties-in-frequency-domain-of-main-insulation-system-of-printed-circuit-board" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168071.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">94</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10568</span> Prediction of Sound Transmission Through Framed Façade Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fangliang%20Chen">Fangliang Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yihe%20Huang"> Yihe Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tejav%20Deganyar"> Tejav Deganyar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anselm%20Boehm"> Anselm Boehm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamid%20Batoul"> Hamid Batoul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> With growing population density and further urbanization, the average noise level in cities is increasing. Excessive noise is not only annoying but also leads to a negative impact on human health. To deal with the increasing city noise, environmental regulations bring up higher standards on acoustic comfort in buildings by mitigating the noise transmission from building envelope exterior to interior. Framed window, door and façade systems are the leading choice for modern fenestration construction, which provides demonstrated quality of weathering reliability, environmental efficiency, and installation ease. The overall sound insulation of such systems depends both on glasses and frames, where glass usually covers the majority of the exposed surfaces, thus it is the main source of sound energy transmission. While frames in modern façade systems become slimmer for aesthetic appearance, which contribute to a minimal percentage of exposed surfaces. Nevertheless, frames might provide substantial transmission paths for sound travels through because of much less mass crossing the path, thus becoming more critical in limiting the acoustic performance of the whole system. There are various methodologies and numerical programs that can accurately predict the acoustic performance of either glasses or frames. However, due to the vast variance of size and dimension between frame and glass in the same system, there is no satisfactory theoretical approach or affordable simulation tool in current practice to access the over acoustic performance of a whole façade system. For this reason, laboratory test turns out to be the only reliable source. However, laboratory test is very time consuming and high costly, moreover different lab might provide slightly different test results because of varieties of test chambers, sample mounting, and test operations, which significantly constrains the early phase design of framed façade systems. To address this dilemma, this study provides an effective analytical methodology to predict the acoustic performance of framed façade systems, based on vast amount of acoustic test results on glass, frame and the whole façade system consist of both. Further test results validate the current model is able to accurately predict the overall sound transmission loss of a framed system as long as the acoustic behavior of the frame is available. Though the presented methodology is mainly developed from façade systems with aluminum frames, it can be easily extended to systems with frames of other materials such as steel, PVC or wood. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=city%20noise" title="city noise">city noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20facades" title=" building facades"> building facades</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20mitigation" title=" sound mitigation"> sound mitigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20transmission%20loss" title=" sound transmission loss"> sound transmission loss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=framed%20fa%C3%A7ade%20system" title=" framed façade system"> framed façade system</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184125/prediction-of-sound-transmission-through-framed-facade-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184125.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">61</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10567</span> Influence of Nano-ATH on Electrical Performance of LSR for HVDC Insulation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ju-Na%20Hwang">Ju-Na Hwang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Min-Hae%20Park"> Min-Hae Park</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kee-Joe%20Lim"> Kee-Joe Lim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Many studies have been conducted on DC transmission. Without sufficient insulation, a great amount of the energy used to heat or cool a building will be lost to the outdoors. In this study, we developed a highly efficient thermal insulation paint with the incorporation of silica aerogel. Silica aerogel, with a low thermal conductivity of 0.01 W/mK, has been successfully prepared from the solid waste from the incineration plants. It has been added into water-based paints to increase its thermal insulation properties. To investigate the thermal insulation performance of silica aerogel additive, the paint samples were mixed with silica aerogel at different sizes and with various portions. The thermal conductivity, water resistance, thermal stability and adhesion strength of the samples were tested and evaluated. The thermal diffusivity measurements proved that adding silica aerogel additive could improve the thermal insulation properties of the paint significantly. Up to 5 ˚C reductions were observed after applying paints with silica aerogel additive compare to the one without it. The results showed that the developed thermal insulation paints have great potential for an application in green and sustainable building. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silica%20aerogel" title="silica aerogel">silica aerogel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20insulation" title=" thermal insulation"> thermal insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water-based%20paints" title=" water-based paints"> water-based paints</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20resistant" title=" water resistant"> water resistant</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118598/development-of-water-based-thermal-insulation-paints-using-silica-aerogel" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118598.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">187</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10562</span> [Keynote Talk]: Thermal Performance of Common Building Insulation Materials: Operating Temperature and Moisture Effect</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maatouk%20Khoukhi">Maatouk Khoukhi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An accurate prediction of the heat transfer through the envelope components of building is required to achieve an accurate cooling/heating load calculation which leads to precise sizing of the hvac equipment. The main question that remains unanswered is related to the influence of the source position on the sound power radiated by a complex wall-floor system in buildings. This research is concerned with the investigation of vibration transmission across walls and floors in buildings. It is primarily based on the determination of vibration reduction index via experimental tests. Knowledge of this parameter may help in predicting noise and vibration propagation in building components. First, the physical mechanisms involving vibration transmission across structural junctions are described. An experimental setup is performed to aid this investigation. The experimental tests have shown that the vibration generation in the walls and floors is directed related to their size and boundary conditions. It is also shown that the vibration source position can affect the overall vibration spectrum significantly. Second, the characteristics of the noise spectra inside the rooms due to an impact source (tapping machine) are also presented. Conclusions are drawn for the general trend of vibration and noise spectrum of the structural components and rooms, respectively. In summary, the aim of this paper is to investigate the vibro-acoustical behavior of building floors and walls under floor impact excitation. The impact excitation was at distinct positions on the slab. The analysis has highlighted the main physical characteristics of the vibration transmission mechanism. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
