Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a sudden and strong expansion of educational institutions followed by great digital infrastructure investments in order to achieve the educational goals. In this sense, the experience of students, teachers and educational managers have contributed significantly to the further development and modernization of the educational process. In this article, we intend to identify and analyse several aspects from the perspective of the role played by digital technologies and the Internet in the teaching-learning process during the pandemic. Therefore, in order to answer the research questions, 182 Romanian students from several universities with different study profiles were interviewed. Thus, in this article, we aimed to emphasize both the benefits of digital technologies for students and the problems that they faced in the online learning environment. Even though the intensive use of the different digital technologies for teaching and learning has been widely advocated for minimum two decades, the COVID-19 pandemic has exponentially increased the needs in the world in which all the stakeholders from schools, students, and families to public and political institutions, particularly the universities have become deeply interested in using properly. To analyse and understand critically how the impacts of the digital technologies on the teaching and learning of the university students during the COVID-19 pandemic, the qualitative research had been strategically designed and developed. The main target of this qualitative research is to understand deeply how the effects of the most used digital technologies on the teaching and learning of the university students during the COVID-19 pandemic period when the university students have taken their courses mainly online or blended, face to face and online. As a field study, three different university students have been taken into account. The participants (25) who had actively participated in the semistructured focus groups through Zoom meetings had answered 21 questions. The collected data were analysed by using NVivo. The data have showed the most used digital technologies-from Google Classroom, Blackboard, Canvas, and Zoom to Google Drive, YouTube WhatsApp, and Notability-affect positively minimum 88% of the university students on the teaching and learning even in the most difficult subjects including those of the applied ones. Since they are the most well known facilitators for learning activities involving high technologies for both face to face and distance learning ecosystems in the higher education institutions, it creates also a long term model by developing and systematizing a roadmap for future teaching, learning, collaborating, networking, assessing, and researching at the university level. As the 94% of the participants has clarified that the students&#39; learning outcomes are much better by using these different digital technologies. Under these new circumstances, most of the participants (98%) point out how they have faced with the difficulties, reliabilities, and stresses while they are taking exams; hence, universities need new successful methodologies to conduct reliable and valid assessments, which affect their success in their Grade Point Average (GPA). Additionally, as the participants (96%) mention that the university professors, lecturers, and teaching assistants need to implement digital teaching methodologies and digital pedagogy by having better digital, technological, infrastructural, institutional, and organizational learning ecosystems that promote and boost teaching, learning, collaborating, networking, and researching. Although, since the launching of the multitude of MOOCs (massive open online courses) offered by entities like Khan Academy, edX, Coursera and others, the idea of home office and even of online education has not been completely new, there still is a basic difference between the alternative, facultative aspect of these facilities and the regular character forced by the Covid-19 pandemic. Home schooling, remote education have become the new normality including both advantages and drawbacks. While there is a general consent upon the ineffectiveness of home schoolingat least regarding Romania-, is this valid for tertiary education, too, or could online education offer some perspectives for future academic instruction? Having this in mind, we conducted a research at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Oradea, Romania, covering the period of online education from March 2020 to June 2021, trying to find an answer to questions like: could the advantages (flexibility in time and space management, broader accessibility cancelling space limits, partial reduction of requirements at least regarding attendance) be materialised in a higher level of attending activities and a lower rate of school abandonment; is online education efficient and to the liking of generation Z; could they, as digital natives, imagine to move online for their studies? Starting from certain hypotheses covering the aforementioned aspects we applied two research methods: a quantitative one (statistical inventory based on the data offered by the education platform of the institution, distance.iduoradea.ro, used in the time span March-September 2020, and e.uoradea.ro used as from October 2020, survey among the students) and a qualitative one (interview with the students). Based on data gathered through a survey (N = 784), this paper analyses students’ perceptions regarding the effectiveness of online education in a period when this type of education is the only available option. Although several studies suggest that online education can be as effective as traditional education which requires attendance, few studies have focused on learner satisfaction with online instruction, particularly in the transition to online learning from traditional approaches. They can work with them in full-time and distance education. The current research paper contributes to educational research based on the investigation of holistic perspectives of the ongoing online teaching activities during the lockdown period. The article is built on a literature review. The methodologies are described and the results are presented. There have been research on distant learning and digitalization, but mostly in terms of potential, obstacles, and student assessments, as well as their influence on education. There are no empirical research on the worldwide trend of how employees utilize e-learning resources to determine instructors&#39; interest in and attitudes about using them. This chasm is also regarded a new angle of empirical research that uses the Chi-square test of independence to find patterns. The present research aims to build a realistic instrument that can assess instructors&#39; attitudes about e-learning during COVID-19 with this purpose in mind.The paper consists of two parts: a literature review and statistical analysis. The research was conducted by means of a diagnostic opinion CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) questionnaire and statistical analysis. This study was conducted among 342 teachers working in various universities located in the following countries: Poland, Pakistan, Iraq, USA, UK, Germany, and Austria. The questionnaire consisted of 20 questions. The researchers provided a detailed overview of e-learning practices during the pandemic and its future prospects from the teacher&#39;s point of view. The goals of this article and the research problems are to learn about the worldwide trend of how employees utilize e-learning resources, to identify teachers&#39; interests in and attitudes towards using e-learning resources throughout the globe, and to recommend opportunities for workers to use e-learning resources around the world, which is a very important issue, especially in the era of globalization, society 5.0, and industry 4.0. The authors also proposed a Chi-square statistical analysis to check whether there exists a relationship between two variables based on which the hypotheses were formulated. The results of the study clearly show that the respondents approach to e-learning was very responsible because they realized that it was up to them to properly convey knowledge.
