In the past the two often looked and act alike, and often were in similar roles in singles and PVs. Around the time Morning Musume was split into <a href="/web/20101226003842/http://hpdb.vicion.net/show/groups/Sakura+Gumi.html">Sakura Gumi</a> (with Ai) and <a href="/web/20101226003842/http://hpdb.vicion.net/show/groups/Otome+Gumi.html">Otome Gumi</a> (with Nozomi) the two started having more distinct styles, although being in <a href="/web/20101226003842/http://hpdb.vicion.net/show/groups/W.html">W</a> now they often wear more or less same set of clothing. </p></div><div class="editable"><p class="text_text">To further complement their similarity, the two were members of the subgroup <a href="/web/20101226003842/http://hpdb.vicion.net/show/groups/Mini+Moni.html">Mini Moni</a> from the beginning to the end of the group in May of 2004. In addition to that, Ai was a member of <a href="/web/20101226003842/http://hpdb.vicion.net/show/groups/Tanpopo.html">Tanpopo</a> until the subgroups were shuffled in 2002.
