The Muon Collider Study (MuC) covers the accelerator complex, detectors and physics for a future muon collider. In 2023, European Commission support was obtained for a design study of a muon collider (MuCol) [3]. This project started on 1st March 2023, with work-packages aligned with the overall muon collider studies. In preparation of and during the 2021-22 U.S. Snowmass process, the muon collider project parameters, technical studies and physics performance studies were performed and presented in great detail. Recently, the P5 panel [4] in the U.S. recommended a muon collider R&amp;D, proposed to join the IMCC and envisages that the U.S. should prepare to host a muon collider, calling this their &#34;muon shot&#34;. In the course of the decomposition of the investigated systems, ethylene is eliminated with the production of either keto or enol tautomer. The six-membered transition state structure encountered in the path of keto formation is much lower in energy than the fourmembered transition state required to give enol form. Rate constants and activation energies for the decomposition of 1-EisoQ, 2-EQ, 3-EQ, 3-EisoQ, 4-EQ, 4-EisoQ, 5-EQ, 5-EisoQ, 8- EQ, and 8-EisoQ have been estimated at different temperatures and pressures using conventional transition state theory combined with Eckart tunneling (TST/Eck) and the statistical Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus (RRKM) theories. The tunneling correction is significant at temperatures up to 1000 K. Rate constants results reveal that ethylene elimination with keto production is favored kinetically and thermodynamically over the whole temperature range of 400-1200 K and the rates of the processes under study increase with the rising of pressure up to 1 bar. <a class="is-size-7" style="white-space: nowrap;" onclick="document.getElementById('2302.04849v1-abstract-full').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('2302.04849v1-abstract-short').style.display = 'inline';">&#9651; Less</a> </span> </p> <p class="is-size-7"><span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Submitted</span> 25 January, 2023; <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">originally announced</span> February 2023. </p> <p class="comments is-size-7"> <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Comments:</span> <span class="has-text-grey-dark mathjax">25 pages, 11 figures</span> </p> </li> <li class="arxiv-result"> <div class="is-marginless"> <p class="list-title is-inline-block"><a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.02764">arXiv:2302.02764</a> <span>&nbsp;[<a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2302.02764">pdf</a>, <a href="https://arxiv.org/format/2302.02764">other</a>]&nbsp;</span> </p> <div class="tags is-inline-block"> <span class="tag is-small is-link tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="Instrumentation and Detectors">physics.ins-det</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="High Energy Physics - Experiment">hep-ex</span> </div> <div class="is-inline-block" style="margin-left: 0.5rem"> <div class="tags has-addons"> <span class="tag is-dark is-size-7">doi</span> <span class="tag is-light is-size-7"><a class="" href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.nima.2023.168449">10.1016/j.nima.2023.168449 <i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a></span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="title is-5 mathjax"> Machine Learning based tool for CMS RPC currents quality monitoring </p> <p class="authors"> <span class="search-hit">Authors:</span> <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Shumka%2C+E">E. They are gaseous detectors operated in the hostile environment of the CMS underground cavern on the Large Hadron Collider where pp luminosities of up to $2\times 10^{34}$ $\text{cm}^{-2}\text{s}^{-1}$ are routinely achieved. The CMS RPC system performance is constantly monitored and the detector is regularly maintained to ensure stable operation. The main monitorable characteristics are dark current, efficiency for muon detection, noise rate etc. Herein we describe an automated tool for CMS RPC current monitoring which uses Machine Learning techniques. We further elaborate on the dedicated generalized linear model proposed already and add autoencoder models for self-consistent predictions as well as hybrid models to allow for RPC current predictions in a distant future. <a class="is-size-7" style="white-space: nowrap;" onclick="document.getElementById('2302.02764v1-abstract-full').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('2302.02764v1-abstract-short').style.display = 'inline';">&#9651; Less</a> </span> </p> <p class="is-size-7"><span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Submitted</span> 6 February, 2023; <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">originally announced</span> February 2023. </p> </li> <li class="arxiv-result"> <div class="is-marginless"> <p class="list-title is-inline-block"><a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.16591">arXiv:2211.16591</a> <span>&nbsp;[<a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2211.16591">pdf</a>, <a href="https://arxiv.org/format/2211.16591">other</a>]&nbsp;</span> </p> <div class="tags is-inline-block"> <span class="tag is-small is-link tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="Instrumentation and Detectors">physics.ins-det</span> </div> <div class="is-inline-block" style="margin-left: 0.5rem"> <div class="tags has-addons"> <span class="tag is-dark is-size-7">doi</span> <span class="tag is-light is-size-7"><a class="" href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.nima.2023.168271">10.1016/j.nima.2023.168271 <i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a></span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="title is-5 mathjax"> RPC based tracking system at CERN GIF++ facility </p> <p class="authors"> <span class="search-hit">Authors:</span> <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Amarilo%2C+K+M">K. At the CERN Gamma Irradiation Facility (GIF++) many muon detectors undergo such studies, but the high gamma background can pose a challenge to the muon trigger system which is exposed to many fake hits from the gamma background. A tracking system using RPCs is implemented to clean the fake hits, taking profit of the high muon efficiency of these chambers. The muon collider design aims to deliver physics reach at the highest energies with costs, power consumption and on a time scale that may prove favorable relative to other proposed facilities. In this context, a new international collaboration has formed to further extend the design concepts and performance studies of such a machine. This effort is focused on delivering the elements of a $\sim$10 TeV center of mass (CM) energy design to explore the physics energy frontier. The path to such a machine may pass through lower energy options. Currently a 3 TeV CM stage is considered. Other energy stages could also be explored, e.g. an s-channel Higgs Factory operating at 125 GeV CM. We describe the status of the R&amp;D and design effort towards such a machine and lay out a plan to bring these concepts to maturity as a tool for the high energy physics community. <a class="is-size-7" style="white-space: nowrap;" onclick="document.getElementById('2203.08033v1-abstract-full').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('2203.08033v1-abstract-short').style.display = 'inline';">&#9651; Less</a> </span> </p> <p class="is-size-7"><span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Submitted</span> 15 March, 2022; <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">originally announced</span> March 2022. </p> <p class="comments is-size-7"> <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Comments:</span> <span class="has-text-grey-dark mathjax">23 pages, 3 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2201.07895</span> </p> </li> <li class="arxiv-result"> <div class="is-marginless"> <p class="list-title is-inline-block"><a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2201.07789">arXiv:2201.07789</a> <span>&nbsp;[<a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2201.07789">pdf</a>, <a href="https://arxiv.org/format/2201.07789">other</a>]&nbsp;</span> </p> <div class="tags is-inline-block"> <span class="tag is-small is-link tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="Instrumentation and Methods for Astrophysics">astro-ph.IM</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="General Relativity and Quantum Cosmology">gr-qc</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="High Energy Physics - Experiment">hep-ex</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="High Energy Physics - Phenomenology">hep-ph</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="Atomic Physics">physics.atom-ph</span> </div> <div class="is-inline-block" style="margin-left: 0.5rem"> <div class="tags has-addons"> <span class="tag is-dark is-size-7">doi</span> <span class="tag is-light is-size-7"><a class="" href="https://doi.org/10.1140/epjqt/s40507-022-00147-w">10.1140/epjqt/s40507-022-00147-w <i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a></span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="title is-5 mathjax"> Cold Atoms in Space: Community Workshop Summary and Proposed Road-Map </p> <p class="authors"> <span class="search-hit">Authors:</span> <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Alonso%2C+I">Ivan Alonso</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Alpigiani%2C+C">Cristiano Alpigiani</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Altschul%2C+B">Brett Altschul</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Araujo%2C+H">Henrique Araujo</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Arduini%2C+G">Gianluigi Arduini</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Arlt%2C+J">Jan Arlt</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Badurina%2C+L">Leonardo Badurina</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Balaz%2C+A">Antun Balaz</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Bandarupally%2C+S">Satvika Bandarupally</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Barone%2C+B+C+B+M">Barry C Barish Michele Barone</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Barsanti%2C+M">Michele Barsanti</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Bass%2C+S">Steven Bass</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Bassi%2C+A">Angelo Bassi</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Battelier%2C+B">Baptiste Battelier</a>, <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Baynham%2C+C+F+A">Charles F. The cold atom technologies discussed include atomic clocks, quantum gravimeters and accelerometers, and atom interferometers. Prospective applications include metrology, geodesy and measurement of terrestrial mass change due to, e.g., climate change, and fundamental science experiments such as tests of the equivalence principle, searches for dark matter, measurements of gravitational waves and tests of quantum mechanics. We review the current status of cold atom technologies and outline the requirements for their space qualification, including the development paths and the corresponding technical milestones, and identifying possible pathfinder missions to pave the way for missions to exploit the full potential of cold atoms in space. Finally, we present a first draft of a possible road-map for achieving these goals, that we propose for discussion by the interested cold atom, Earth Observation, fundamental physics and other prospective scientific user communities, together with ESA and national space and research funding agencies. <a class="is-size-7" style="white-space: nowrap;" onclick="document.getElementById('2201.07789v1-abstract-full').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('2201.07789v1-abstract-short').style.display = 'inline';">&#9651; Less</a> </span> </p> <p class="is-size-7"><span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Submitted</span> 19 January, 2022; <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">originally announced</span> January 2022. </p> <p class="comments is-size-7"> <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Comments:</span> <span class="has-text-grey-dark mathjax">Summary of the Community Workshop on Cold Atoms in Space and corresponding Road-map: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1064855/</span> </p> <p class="comments is-size-7"> <span class="has-text-black-bis has-text-weight-semibold">Journal ref:</span> EPJ Quantum Technol. 9, 30 (2022) </p> </li> <li class="arxiv-result"> <div class="is-marginless"> <p class="list-title is-inline-block"><a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2109.14331">arXiv:2109.14331</a> <span>&nbsp;[<a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2109.14331">pdf</a>, <a href="https://arxiv.org/format/2109.14331">other</a>]&nbsp;</span> </p> <div class="tags is-inline-block"> <span class="tag is-small is-link tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="Instrumentation and Detectors">physics.ins-det</span> <span class="tag is-small is-grey tooltip is-tooltip-top" data-tooltip="High Energy Physics - Experiment">hep-ex</span> </div> <div class="is-inline-block" style="margin-left: 0.5rem"> <div class="tags has-addons"> <span class="tag is-dark is-size-7">doi</span> <span class="tag is-light is-size-7"><a class="" href="https://doi.org/10.1088/1748-0221/17/01/C01011">10.1088/1748-0221/17/01/C01011 <i class="fa fa-external-link" aria-hidden="true"></i></a></span> </div> </div> </div> <p class="title is-5 mathjax"> Upgrade of the CMS Resistive Plate Chambers for the High Luminosity LHC </p> <p class="authors"> <span class="search-hit">Authors:</span> <a href="/search/physics?searchtype=author&amp;query=Samalan%2C+A">A. The expected experimental conditions in that period in terms of background rates, event pileup, and the probable aging of the current detectors present a challenge for all the existing experiments at the LHC, including the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment. To ensure a highly performing muon system for this period, several upgrades of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) system of the CMS are currently being implemented. These include the replacement of the readout system for the present system, and the installation of two new RPC stations with improved chamber and front-end electronics designs.
