A denarius was customarily a day's wage for a laborer (see Matthew 20:2)">a</a></span> and three choenixes of barley for a denarius; and you should not injure the oil and the wine.” </p><p class="hdg">The Fourth Seal: Death</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard <i>the</i> voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And I looked, and behold, a pale horse, and the <i>one</i> sitting on it, <i>the</i> name of him <i>was</i> Death, and Hades was following with him; and authority was given to them over the fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with plague, and by the beasts of the earth. </p><p class="hdg">The Fifth Seal: The Martyrs</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those having been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had upheld. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And they were crying in a loud voice, saying, “Until when, O Lord, holy and true, do You not judge and avenge our blood from those dwelling upon the earth?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And to each of them were given white robes, and it was said to them that they shall rest yet a little time, until their fellow servants would also be complete, and their brothers, those being about to be killed as they also <i>had been</i>. </p><p class="hdg">The Sixth Seal: Terror</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And I saw when He opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the whole moon became like blood, <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>and the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs, being shaken by a great wind. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And heaven departed like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the commanders, and the rich, and the powerful, and every slave and free, hid themselves in the caves, and among the rocks of the mountains. <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And they say to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us<span class="fn"><a href="#fnb" title="See Hosea 10:8">b</a></span> from <i>the</i> face of the <i>One</i> sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, <span class="reftext"><a href="/revelation/6-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>because the great day of Their<span class="fn"><a href="#fnc" title="BYZ and TR ‘His’">c</a></span> wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”<A name="fn"><br /><br /></p><A name="fna"></a><span class="footnotesbot">a</span> <span class="fnverse">6</span> <span class="footnote">A choenix was a Greek dry measure, equivalent to 1.92 pints.
