Somewhere between starting and finishing college, I took a detour into the United States Army, where I was a very small part of Operation Desert Storm. Returning to Indiana, I have spent many years working as computer support, dabbled in computer programming, and eventually moved on to project management. </p><p>I'm an Elder at my local church and love to talk about my church (just ask me!). I teach Sunday School to adults, and once a month have the privilege of teaching a group of kids as well. I co-support a bi-weekly Bible study and am the secretary for the Missions team. I do a little bit of tech support when needed, but leave most of that to the professionals. I've only been able to go on one missions trip, and that was to Poland, but it was a wonderful experience and would love to go again. </p><p>From a genealogical research standpoint, I started off with the usual "who am I" and "where did I come from" questions. These led to some handwritten notes that were accurate, but only went back a few generations. It seems that the family Bible with all the answers unfortunately did not fall into my lap. However, I have been able to discover a rich heritage of ancestors who have come to this country from the early days of the United States, many with stories of hard work, lots of manual labor, and an amazing streak of stubbornness that appears to have extended its way all the way down the line. </p><p>Special thanks to those who put together the original Fulkerson.org website, which sadly has moved on to the archives, and especially to Bob Fulkerson, the man who spent countless hours researching the Fulkerson Family. My hat is off to you. I only wish we could have met while you were still living. I have endeavored to pick up where he left off as much as I have been able, and transcribed many of the lost relationships, family members, and research that I could onto WikiTree. It is an ongoing effort, so perhaps I can help to complete a small portion of that in my efforts on WikiTree. </p><p>On WikiTree, I often feel like the Jack of all Trades (Master of None). I truly enjoy research, finding obscure sources, seeking out lost family members, and digging up secrets of the past. While I "say" I don't enjoy writing biographies, I can put together a fairly good one, even though I feel it's never finished enough. I am an avid connector, and feel everyone has a chance to be connected to the global tree, but some do take a bit longer to find than others. Patience is the key to connections, and I've had to walk away from a few of them for a little bit to give me a chance to think about them differently. I co-manage the Notables Team alongside other talented leaders, coordinators, and team members and feel that we should always remain in collaboration with each other and with all other teams to be successful. My favorite experiences involve helping others out when I know how to do it (and they don't), but even better, when I can help them learn how to do it at the same time. </p><p>These are some of what I refer to as my ancestors that go the furthest back. The Notables Project set warnings on those categories 5 years ago that they were no longer to be used, and that they were scheduled to be deleted. The categorization team would typically have done this automatically, however, they have gone without a formal leader and tasks like this have unfortunately not been addressed in a timely manner. I informed the Leaders that this was coming, and asked for input prior to beginning the task. As one of the Notables Leaders, and these being pre-Notables Team categories that were intended to be converted to the Notables Template or Sticker, this is more or less a maintenance category intended to be replaced with "Notables".<p>As to the term "Famous", the discussion around this was primarily what drove the change. What makes one man "famous" over another. No one could give a consistent answer, so it was clear that these categories were confusing and utilized in a random fashion as opposed to their original intention. </p><p>For Film Director, you would just use the category "Film Directors". If the individual has a Wikipedia page, you would add the Notables Template for profiles that are not Open privacy, or the Notables Sticker if they are Open privacy. </p><p>Let me know if this answers your questions. </p><p>Thanks. For any profile you're looking for, it would be a good idea to get comfortable with the Find screen in WikiTree. His was easy to find. Usually I go to Wikipedia, get the birth date and birth name, and then go to the Find screen and enter the name and birth year, and see what comes up. I can see where he "worked" places where a lot of interesting things were happening, but not the specifics of what he "did". Normally things like why something was above and beyond the call of duty, or why it was an incredible challenge that he rose to face it, or the level of impact it had on things are what are looked for in evaluating someone who does not have a Wikipedia page. There have always been those in the medical profession who were given a task and completed it as requested, but those don't tend to become Notables. However, I do see the potential with his work in India - I think it just needs to be clearer as to the role he played there, the challenges he faced, the risks he faced, and the level of success he achieved. If he was only one of 100 doctors out there doing the same thing, then it really means he would have to be shown where he was above and beyond what the others were doing. If all we can determine is that he was just one of many jabbing people in the arm, then it probably isn't all that Notable. Hope that helps.
