Ministerial Troika Meeting</b></center> <p>24 January 2006 <p>Tshwane – South African Foreign Minister, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, in her capacity as the former Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), will host a meeting of the NAM Troika, (comprising South Africa, Malaysia and Cuba) in Cape Town scheduled from Thursday to Friday, 26 - 27 January 2006. Foreign Ministers of Malaysia and Cuba Syed Hamid Albar and Felipe Perez Roque respectively will attend the meeting in their capacities as current and incoming Chairs of the NAM. <p>NAM, with 114 member countries, remains the largest political grouping of countries outside of the United Nations itself. In this regard, South Africa has placed a high premium on membership of this Movement in identifying areas of common concern and support for implementation of the developmental agenda of the South and the African agenda in particular. During South Africa’s tenure as Chair, Minister Dlamini Zuma initiated the Zimbali process aimed at revitalisation of the Movement and its structures. <p>This initiative was followed up at the Kuala Lumpur Summit in 2003 which envisaged a more active role for both NAM Ministers and the Troika, to enable a more rapid NAM response to global developments of importance to the Movement.
